Delphi study for developing a checklist of adverse events associated with acupotomy

Background Acupotomy,a more invasive procedure than acupuncture,involves the use of a thicker needle with an integrated knife at the tip,necessitating safety *** aimed to define relevant adverse events(AEs)and create a standardized form of the ACUPOtomy-related AEs CHECKlist(ACUPOCHECK).Methods Before conducting the Delphi process,a systematic review and pilot prospective study were conducted to gather information on previously reported *** these data,pilot versions of the ACUPOCHECK and Delphi questionnaires were *** Delphi questionnaire involved selecting types of AE for inclusion,establishing separate criteria for acupotomy-related AEs,and achieving a consensus on AE *** Korean doctors with experience in acupotomy or AE research were recruited to participate in each Delphi *** was considered to have been reached if the critical value for the content validity ratio met or exceeded *** The final ACUPOCHECK was developed using four rounds of the Delphi method and one face-to-face consensus *** included 12 local AEs(pain,hemorrhage,bruise,hematoma,edema,pruritus,rash,infection,nerve damage,dysesthesia,movement impairment,and pneumothorax)and 14 systemic AEs(disease aggravation,needle fatigue,sleepiness,procedural nausea,procedural vomiting,procedural headache,procedural dizziness,sweating,procedural shock,syncope,dyspnea,procedural pain,sleep disorder,and postprocedural infection).Separate criteria were established for pain,hemorrhage and bruising:pain was defined as pain that occurrs during daily activities and persists for longer than 72 h,hemorrhage as bleeding that continues for≥3 min despite pressure application,and bruising as having a bruise with a diameter of≥3 ***-ended descriptions were allowed for AEs not covered by the checklist,and severity and causality were assessed using the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events and modified World Health Organization-Uppsala Monitoring C

Toosendanin: upgrade of an old agent in cancer treatment

Toosendanin(TSN), a tetracyclic triterpenoid derived from Melia toosendan and M. azedarach, demonstrates broad application prospects in cancer treatment. Although previously employed as a pesticide, recent studies have revealed its potential therapeutic value in treating various types of cancer. TSN exerts an anticancer effect via mechanisms including proliferation inhibition, apoptosis induction, migration suppression, and angiogenesis inhibition. However, TSN's toxicity, particularly its hepatotoxicity, significantly limits its therapeutic application. This review explored the dual nature of TSN, evaluating both its anticancer potential and toxicological risks, emphasizing the importance of balancing these aspects in therapeutic applications. Furthermore, we investigated the incorporation of TSN into novel therapeutic strategies, such as Proteolysis-targeting chimeras(PROTAC) technology and nanotechnology-based drug delivery systems(DDS), which enhance treatment efficacy while mitigating toxicity in normal tissues.

The Changes on MRI of the HIVD Patients after oriental medicine Treatment

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to report the image changes of four cases of Lumbar intervertebral disc Herniation after oriental medicine *** & Methods : We examined 4 patients with Lumbar intervertebral disc Herniation (HIVD of L-spine) who showed changes on MRI images before/ after the treatment among HIVD of L-spine patients who visited jaseng hospital of oriental medicine from Jan.2006 to *** & Conclusions : In this study, the first MRI examination of HIVD of L-spine patients was performed at the first visit and re-examination of MRI was done after the *** assessed clinical symptoms by using Numerical rating scales(NRS).In each case, the size of the disc herniation was considerably reduced in MRI *** was also reduced significantly.

Objectives: This study is to investigate the clinical application of conservative treatment to a patient who has the paresthesia and migration on L-spine ***: A male patient, 34 years old, who has paresthesia and migration on L-spine MRI was evaluated after conservative oriental medical and chuna treatment by Visual Analog Scale(VAS), Numeric Rating Scale(NRS), Straight Leg Rasing Test(SLRT), Sensation, MRI ***- *** Analog Scale(VAS), Numeric Rating Scale(NRS), Straight Leg Rasing Test(SLRT), Sense was significantly improved after conservative oriental medical and chuna *** it was observed that herniated disc was decreased by L-spine MRI *** oriental medical and chuna treatment can be effective for decreasing pain and improving paresthesia, also decreasing the volume of herniated disc.

To the Editor:Atherosclerosis is the main pathological feature of ischemic stroke,which remains a major cause of disability and death worldwide.[1]Vulnerable plaque,was characterized by ulceration,platelet activation,and thrombosis,potentially leading to emboli detachment and stroke.[2]Vascular smooth muscle cells(VSMCs),a major cellular component within lesions,can display pleiotropic phenotypes,including osteogenic or inammatory phenotypes,which may be harmful in maintaining advanced atherosclerotic plaque stability.[3]The modulation of the function of VSMCs,including proliferation,migration,and synthesizing the extracellular matrix(ECM)and matrix metalloproteinase(MMP),is thought to markedly affect plaque formation and vulnerability.[4]Therefore,it is of considerable signicance to drive harmful VSMCs toward VSMCs having benecial properties to strengthen plaque stability and retard plaque development.

Clinical study of The influence of hysterectomy on LBP investigated through oriental medicine theory

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of hysterectomy on LBP and to describe it through oriental medicine ***: Research was conducted by history taking of 1849 female LBP patients who visited jaseng oriental medicine *** was focused on the number of patients who underwent hysterectomy, and the length of time developing LBP after the ***; 178 patients (9.6%) underwent hysterectomy among 1849 patients, and it was higher than general rate of *** oriental medicine, this result can be explained that it is caused by the lack of water function of spleen(肾水) from the absence of uterus, consequently it makes muscle weak and does harm to Blood, meridian Conclusions: History of hysterectomy has a significant influence on the development of LBP.

The Clinical Report on 3 cases of The patients of extruded disc Treated with Motion Style Treatment

Objectives: the purpose of this study is to report the improvement of HIVD patients with gait difficulty, who treated by M.S.T(Motion Style Treatment) Methods: the clinical study was done on 3 cases of patients with disc extrusion, whose walking ability was not improved after the admission in Ja-Seng oriental medicine hospital for a *** checked the walking time and NRS score after the treatment of M.S.T(Motion Style Treatment) each ***: the walking time increased after the treatment of M.S.T(Motion Style Treatment).Whereas NRS score decreased after the treatment of M.S.T(Motion Style Treatment).after 2-3 weeks of treatment, 3 cases of patients could walk more than 20 minutes.
