Total pancreatectomy(TP) is a surgical procedure which includes the complete removal of the pancreatic gland, the spleen, the duodenum, the gallbladder, and the distal part of the stomach. TP represents the curative treatment of pancreatic cancer which simultaneously involves the head and the body/tail of the pancreas. Other possible indications for TP comprise multifocal parenchymal diseases, such as intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms, pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, multiple endocrine neoplasms, and chronic pancreatitis. Sometimes, TP is carried out in patients scheduled for pancreaticoduodenectomy(where only the head of the pancreas is removed) when a cancer located in the pancreatic head is intraoperatively found to also extend to the pancreatic body [1].

BACKGROUND Interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome(IC/BPS)is an at least 6-mo noninfectious bladder inflammation of unknown origin characterized by chronic suprapubic,abdominal,and/or pelvic *** the term cystitis suggests an inflammatory or infectious origin,no definite cause has been *** occurs in both sexes,but women are twice as much *** To systematically review evidence of psychiatric/psychological changes in persons with IC/*** Hypothesizing that particular psychological characteristics could underpin IC/BPS,we investigated in three databases the presence of psychiatric symptoms and/or disorders and/or psychological characteristics in patients with IC/BPS using the following strategy:("interstitial cystitis"OR"bladder pain syndrome")AND("mood disorder"OR depressive OR antidepressant OR depression OR depressed OR hyperthymic OR mania OR manic OR rapid cyclasterisk OR dysthymiasterisk OR dysphoriasterisk).RESULTS On September 27,2023,the PubMed search produced 223 articles,CINAHL 62,and the combined PsycLIT/PsycARTICLES/PsycINFO/Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection search *** on *** produced 14 studies,of which none had available *** were peer-reviewed articles reporting psychiatric/psychological symptoms in patients with IC/BPS,i.e.63 articles spanning from 2000 to October *** studies identified depression and anxiety problems in the IC/BPS population,along with sleep problems and the tendency to *** Psychotherapies targeting catastrophizing and life stress emotional awareness and expression reduced perceived pain in women with IC/*** concepts should be considered when implementing treatments aimed at reducing IC/BPS-related pain.

Witness for resolution: post-conflict quadratic affiliation in semi-free ranging pigs

In social mammals,post-conflict resolution can involve the reunion of former opponents(reconciliation),spontaneous/solicited post-conflict affliation of a third party with either opponent(triadic contacts),and affiliation between other individuals(hereafter bystanders;quadratic contacts).Quadratic contacts-possibly informing complex cognitive abilities-have been neglected in post-conflict *** investi-gated quadratic affliation in semi-free ranging pigs Sus scrofa,at the ethical farm Parva-Domus(Cavagnolo,italy).Kinship was *** collected behavioral data on adult pigs(n=104)via video recordings(43 h)followed by video *** and anxiety behaviors between bystanders were collected under post-conflict(PC;following a conflict between non-bystanders)and matched-control(MC;no conflict)*** affiliation was present in pigs,as bystanders affliated more in PC than MC,and such affiliation was followed by a decrease in the anxiety behaviors of both the interacting ***,quadratic contacts may be partly aimed at reducing one's own anxiety(intrinsic regulation).Quadratic affiliation was highest between closely related bystanders,which suggests that such affiliation may be most effective when close kin is *** affiliation was lowest after reconciliation and spontaneous triadic *** suggests that direct peacemaking between opponents and spontaneous triadic contacts with close kin may most likely replace quadratic ***,pigs can be influenced by the negative events that affect other pigs-but not themselves-and their response may be modulated by social *** non-random quadratic affiliation may point toward the presence of elements of social appraisal abilities inpigs.

Investigation on the influence of vortex generator on particle resuspension

The vortex generator(VG)and its well-known effect in flow optimization are widely studied and employed across different engineering ***,while the same working principles of VG may be well suited for the applications on surface-cleaning technologies,such promising potential is hardly,if any,explored in the published ***,in the present study,the influence on flow-induced particle resuspension brought by a rectangular vG in a channel flow is investigated with the help of highfidelity computational fluid dynamics *** increases of particle removal forces and resuspension rates are discovered in long,strip-like regions with reduced boundary-layer thickness resulted from the vG-induced vortices,and the enhancement effect is especially significant for configurations with the VG installed at a greater angle of *** is also shown that while the resuspension enhancements on the lower and the upper surfaces of the channel exhibit distinct statistical characteristics,having a VG in the channel improves the overall particle-removing capability of the channel flow by introducing higher surface-averaged removal forces and particle resuspension *** but not least,the increase of resuspension rate is especially significant for the smaller,micron-scale particles which are otherwise hardly disturbed by a VG-less channel flow,and such resuspension-enhancement effectgenerally subsides with increasing particle size.

Nonlinear dynamics of the reversed shear Alfvén eigenmode in burning plasmas

In a tokamak fusion reactor operated at steady state,the equilibrium magnetic field is likely to have reversed shear in the core region,as the noninductive bootstrap current profile generally peaks *** reversed shear Alfvén eigenmode(RSAE)as a unique branch of the shear Alfvén wave in this equilibrium,can exist with a broad spectrum in wavenumber and frequency,and be resonantly driven unstable by energetic particles(EP).After briefly discussing the RSAE linear properties in burning plasma condition,we review several key topics of the nonlinear dynamics for the RSAE through both wave-EP resonance and wave-wave coupling channels,and illustrate their potentially important role in reactor-scale fusion *** means of simplified hybrid MHD-kinetic simulations,the RSAEs are shown to have typically broad phase space resonance structure with both circulating and trapped EP,as results of weak/vanishing magnetic shear and relatively low *** the route of wave-EP nonlinearity,the dominant saturation mechanism is mainly due to the transported resonant EP radially decoupling with the localized RSAE mode structure,and the resultant EP transport generally has a convective *** saturated RSAEs also undergo various nonlinear couplings with other collective *** typical routes as parametric decay and modulational instability are studied using nonlinear gyrokinetic theory,and applied to the scenario of spontaneous excitation by a finite amplitude pump *** RSAEs could naturally couple and induce the spectral energy cascade into a low frequency Alfvénic mode,which may effectively transfer the EP energy to fuel ions via collisionless Landau ***,zero frequency zonal field structure could be spontaneously excited by modulation of the pump RSAE envelope,and may also lead to saturation of the pump RSAE by both scattering into stable domain and local distortion of the continuum structure.
