Metal-halide perovskites are revolutionizing the world of X-ray detectors,due to the development of sensitive,fast,and cost-effective ***-powered operation,ensuring portability and low power consumption,has also been recently demonstrated in both bulk materials and thin ***,the signal stability and repeatability under continuous X-ray exposure has only been tested up to a few hours,often reporting degradation of the detection *** it is shown that self-powered direct X-ray detectors,fabricated starting from a FAPbBr_(3)submicrometer-thick film deposition onto a mesoporous TiO_(2)scaffold,can withstand a 26-day uninterrupted X-ray exposure with negligible signal loss,demonstrating ultra-high operational stability and excellent *** structural modification is observed after irradiation with a total ionizing dose of almost 200 Gy,revealing an unexpectedly high radiation hardness for a metal-halide perovskite thin *** addition,trap-assisted photoconductive gain enabled the device to achieve a record bulk sensitivity of 7.28 C Gy^(−1)cm^(−3)at 0 V,an unprecedented value in the field of thin-film-based photoconductors and photodiodes for“hard”***,prototypal validation under the X-ray beam produced by a medical linear accelerator for cancer treatment is also introduced.

We numerically study the dynamics of quasi-two dimensional cholesteric liquid crystal droplets in the presence of a time-dependent electric field,rotating at constant angular velocity.A surfactant sitting at the droplet interface is also introduced to prevent droplet *** dynamics is modeled following a hybrid numerical approach,where a standard lattice Boltzmann technique solves the Navier-Stokes equation and a finite difference scheme integrates the evolution equations of liquid crystal and *** results show that,once the field is turned on,the liquid crystal rotates coherently triggering a concurrent orbital motion of both droplets around each other,an effect due to the momentum transfer to the surrounding *** addition the topological defects,resulting from the conflict orientation of the liquid crystal within the drops,exhibit a chaotic-like motion in cholesterics with a high pitch,in contrast with a regular one occurring along circular trajectories observed in nematics *** behavior is found to depend on magnitude and frequency of the applied field as well as on the anchoring of the liquid crystal at the droplet *** findings are quantitatively evaluated by measuring the angular velocity of fluid and drops for various frequencies of the applied field.

A Boundary Element Method （BEM） hydrodynamics combined with a flow-alignment technique to evaluate blades shed vorticity is presented and applied to a marine propeller in open water. Potentialities and drawbacks of this approach in capturing propeller performance, slipstream velocities, blade pressure distribution and pressure disturbance in the flow-field are highlighted by comparisons with available experiments and RANSE results. In particular, correlations between the shape of the convected vortex- sheet and the accuracy of BEM results are discussed throughout the paper. To this aim, the analysis of propeller thrust and torque is the starting point towards a detailed discussion on the capability of a 3-D free-wake BEM hydrodynamic approach to describe the local features of the flow-field behind the propeller disk, in view of applications to propulsive configurations where the shed wake plays a dominant role.

In this paper, the authors give a different and more precise analysis of the stability of the classical Gauss-Laguerre quadrature rule for the Cauchy P.V. integrals on the half line. Moreover, in order to obtain this result they give some new estimates for the distance of the zeros of the Laguerre polynomials that can be useful also in other contests.

Multicomponent models based on the Lattice Boltzmann Method(LBM)have clear advantages with respect to other approaches,such as good parallel performances and scalability and the automatic resolution of breakup and coalescence *** flow simulations are useful for a wide range of applications,yet many multicomponent models for LBMare limited in their numerical stability and therefore do not allow exploration of physically relevant low viscosity *** we performa quantitative study and validations,varying parameters such as viscosity,droplet radius,domain size and acceleration for stationary and translating droplet simulations for the color-gradientmethod with centralmoments(CG-CM)formulation,as this method promises increased numerical stability with respect to the *** focus on numerical stability and on the effect of decreasing grid-spacing,*** resolution,in the extremely low viscosity regime for stationary droplet *** effects of small-and large-scale anisotropy,due to grid-spacing and domain-size,respectively,are investigated for a stationary *** effects on numerical stability of applying a uniform acceleration in one direction on the domain,*** both the droplet and the ambient,is explored into the low viscosity regime,to probe the numerical stability of the method under dynamical conditions.
