Background Functional mapping, despite its proven efficiency, suffers from a “chicken or egg” scenario, in that, poor spatial features lead to inadequate spectral alignment and vice versa during training, often resulting in slow convergence, high computational costs, and learning failures, particularly when small datasets are used. Methods A novel method is presented for dense-shape correspondence, whereby the spatial information transformed by neural networks is combined with the projections onto spectral maps to overcome the “chicken or egg” challenge by selectively sampling only points with high confidence in their alignment. These points then contribute to the alignment and spectral loss terms, boosting training, and accelerating convergence by a factor of five. To ensure full unsupervised learning, the Gromov–Hausdorff distance metric was used to select the points with the maximal alignment score displaying most confidence. Results The effectiveness of the proposed approach was demonstrated on several benchmark datasets, whereby results were reported as superior to those of spectral and spatial-based methods. Conclusions The proposed method provides a promising new approach to dense-shape correspondence, addressing the key challenges in the field and offering significant advantages over the current methods, including faster convergence, improved accuracy, and reduced computational costs.

The Yangtze River is the mother river of *** promote the aquatic ecosystem protection of the great river,the Project of Yangtze Fisheries Resources and Environment Investigation(2017-2021)supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs,*** carried out by 24 institutes and universities that located in the Yangtze River basin surveys the status of(1)fish species composition and spatial distribution,(2)current fish abundance,(3)endangered fishes,(4)Yangtze finless porpoise,(5)aquatic eco-environments,(6)water-level fluctuation areas,(7)capture fisheries and recreational fisheries of the Yangtze River mainstream and 10 of its main tributaries,including Yalong River,Heng River,Min River(including Dadu River),Chishui River,Tuo River,Jialing River,Wu River,Han River,Dongting Lake and Poyang *** results showed that there were 443 fish species(belonging to 163 genus,37 families,and 18 orders)before 2017,but only 323 fish species(including 15 new recorded exotic species)were recorded in the project of *** them,Cyprinus carpio,Carassius auratus,Hypophthalmichthys molitrix,Pelteobagrus fulvidraco,Coilia brachygnathus,Silurus asotus,Saurogobio dabryi,Ctenopharyngodon idellus,Pelteobagrus nitidus,Hemiculter leucisculus,Siniperca chuatsi,Coreius heterodon,Culter alburnus,Parabramis pekinensis,and Aristichthys nobilis were the dominant species across the whole Yangtze River *** is estimated that there were 886 million individuals weighing 124.8 million kg,merely equivalent to 27.3%of the resources in 1950s,30.9%of the resources in 1960s,or 58.7%of the resources in *** the new list of protected fishes that recorded in the Yangtze River system,only 15 of 29 were collected in this project of *** gladius has been affirmed to be Extinct by International Union for Conservation of Nature(IUCN).The wild individuals of Tenualosa reevesii and Luciobrama macrocephalus have disappeared for many years and maybe have been extinct

BACKGROUND Although the association of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD)with psychiatric disorders is well known,its association with somatic diseases is *** few studies have investigated the gastrointestinal(GI)morbidity in adult patients with *** To measure gastrointestinal comorbidity and its burden on healthcare in young adults with *** The cohort included subjects aged 17-35 years recruited to the israel Defense Forces in 2007-2013,33380 with ADHD and 355652 without(controls).The groups were compared for functional and inflammatory conditions of the gastrointestinal tract and clinic and specialist visits for gastrointestinal symptoms/disease during service(to 2016).Findings were analyzed by generalized linear models adjusted for background *** Compared to controls,the ADHD group had more diagnoses of functional gastrointestinal disorders(referred to as FGID),namely,dyspepsia[odds ratio(OR):1.48,95%confidence interval(CI):1.40-1.57,P<0.001],chronic constipation(OR:1.64,95%CI:1.48-1.81,P<0.001),and irritable bowel syndrome(OR:1.67,95%CI:1.56-1.80,P<0.001)but not of organic disorders(inflammatory bowel disease,celiac disease).They had more frequent primary care visits for gastrointestinal symptoms[rate ratio(RR):1.25,95%CI:1.24-1.26,P<0.001]and referrals to gastrointestinal specialists(RR:1.96,95%CI:1.88-2.03,P<0.001)and more episodes of recurrent gastrointestinal symptoms(RR:1.29,95%CI:1.21-1.38,P<0.001).Methylphenidate use increased the risk of dyspepsia(OR:1.49,95%CI:1.28-1.73,P<0.001)and constipation(OR:1.42,95%CI:1.09-1.84,P=0.009).CONCLUSION ADHD in young adults is associated with an excess of FGID and increased use of related health *** is needed to determine if an integrative approach treating both conditions will benefit these patients and cut costs.

Layered lithium intercalating transition metal oxides are promising cathode materials for Li-ion ***,we scrutinize the recently developed strongly constrained and appropriately normed(SCAN)density functional method to study structural,magnetic,and electrochemical properties of prototype cathode materials LiNiO_(2),LiCoO_(2),and LiMnO_(2) at different Li-intercalation *** show that SCAN outperforms earlier popular functional combinations,providing results in considerably better agreement with experiment without the use of Hubbard parameters,and dispersion corrections are found to have a small *** particular,SCAN fares better than Perdew–Burke–Ernzerhof(PBE)functional for the prediction of band-gaps and absolute voltages,better than PBE+U for the electronic density of states and voltage profiles,and better than both PBE and PBE+U for electron densities and in operando lattice *** overall better performance of SCAN may be ascribed to improved treatment of localized states and a better description of short-range dispersion interactions.

Background People over the age of 85 are a rapidly growing age group with a high incidence of congestive heart failure(CHF),in particular heart failure with preserved ejection fraction(HFp EF).The diagnosis of CHF is challenging and longitudinal data assessing cardiac structure and function are necessary to distinguish physiologic from pathologic cardiac *** objective of the study was to determine longitudinal changes in cardiac struture and function from ages 85 to 94 years using home *** Subjects were recruited from the Jerusalem Longitudinal Cohort *** three members of the initial cohort(32 F,31 M)who underwent home echocardiography at age 85 were the subjects of the current study and underwent repeat home 2-D and Doppler echocardiographic assessment at age *** There were no significant longitudinal changes in left ventricular mass index(LVMI),however LV end-diastolic volume significantly decreased from 113.4±30 to 103.6±35.5 m L(P<0.02).Ejection fraction(EF)remained stable,however longitudinal systolic function significantly decreased with age from 7.9±1.8 to 6.6±1.4 cm/s2(P<0.0001).Diastolic function as assessed by increased E:e’(11.2±3.4 to 16±7.5,P<0.0001)and increased left atrial volume index(34.1±11.3 to 42.4±13.7 m L/m^2,P<0.0001)was reduced with *** This study demonstrated preserved EF with decreased longitudinal systolic function and diastolic function without significant change in LV *** in LV function in the very elderly may be independent of changes in LV geometry.

AIM To evaluate and describe the efficacy of fecal microbiota transplantation(FMT) for Clostridium difficile infection(CDI) in a national israeli *** All patients who received FMT for recurrent(recurrence within 8 wk of the previous treatment) or refractory CDI from 2013 through 2017 in all the five medical centers in israel currently performing FMT were included. Stool donors were screened according to the israeli Ministry of Health guidelines. Clinical and laboratory data of patients were collected from patients' medical files, and they included indications for FMT, risk factors for CDI and disease severity. Primary outcome was FMT success(at least 2 mo free of CDI-related diarrhea post-FMT). Secondary outcomes included initial response to FMT(cessation of diarrhea within 7 d) and recurrence at 6 *** There were 111 FMTs for CDI, with a median age of 70 years [interquartile range(IQR): 53-82], and 42%(47) males. Fifty patients(45%) were treated via the lower gastrointestinal(LGI, represented only by colonoscopy) route, 37(33%) via capsules, and 24(22%) via the upper gastrointestinal(UGI) route. The overall success rate was 87.4%(97 patients), with no significant difference between routes of administration(P = 0.338). In the univariant analysis, FMT success correlated with milder disease(P = 0.01), ambulatory setting(P < 0.05) and lower Charlson comorbidity score(P < 0.05). In the multivariant analysis, only severe CDI [odd ratio(OR) = 0.14, P < 0.05] and inpatient FMT(OR = 0.19, P < 0.05) were each independently inversely related to FMT success. There were 35(32%) patients younger than 60 years of age, and 14(40%) of them had a background of inflammatory bowel *** FMT is a safe and effective treatment for CDI, with capsules emerging as a successful and well-tolerated route. Severe CDI is less likely to respond to FMT.

Background:Two-stage hepatectomy(TSH)with portal vein embolization(PVE)is associated with high morbidity and mortality and may result in liver failure due to insufficient future liver *** objectives of this investigation were to evaluate the short-term outcomes of patients with colorectal cancer liver metastasis who underwent TSH with PVE,and to critically review the selection criteria for ***:A retrospective review of all patients who were operated due to bi-lobar CRLM during the years 2007–2017 was *** who underwent TSH-PVE were compared to those who underwent right hepatectomy(RH)***:Twenty-nine patient underwent TSH,25 of whom(86.2%)completed both *** patients demonstrated a major complication rate of 17%,and a 90-day mortality rate of 3.4%.Most complications(80%)were related to the colonic resection,and one patient developed liver *** who suffered complications had a trend towards more baseline comorbidities and more liver *** techniques were utilized in 76%.When compared to 35 patients who underwent sole RH,no significant difference was demonstrated in major complication rate(20%)or mortality(0%).Conclusions:TSH is a relatively safe procedure in selected *** techniques can reduce the occurrence of liver insufficiency and should be used liberally when *** such as number of lesions,comorbidities and the timing of colonic resection should be considered and evaluated in order to improve the outcomes of the procedure.
