In recent decades, substantial increase in average weight of individuals has been seen in rich countries. Such changes are the result of significant changes in pattern of people’s lives. One of these issues is increasing levels in consumption of fast foods or processed foods. According to experts, the consumption of processed foods, because of having high-calories and trans-fatty acids, is fattening and harmful. In this study, the researchers after obtaining permission from the ethics committee and head of the School of Nursing, introduced themselves to nursing students then, samples were randomly selected among those who are eligible for the study. Before performing to complete the questionnaire and relevant experiments, testimonial were asked from the subjects. At the end of the study, results were suggested that, levels of Serum folate between males and females and also among married and single people were equivalent. Level of Serum folate among those students who usually have anemia in their families is significantly lower than those ones who have not anemia in their families (P = 0.003). There was a significant relationship between age and semester with levels of folate (P i.e. by increasing age and educational terms, levels of serum folate would be reduced. The level of serum folate among students who smoke is lesser than those do not (P = 0.001).

·AIM:To identify various risk factors that may play a significant role in the development of congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction(CNLDO).·METHODS:This observational case-control study included a case group of 122 children less than two years of age with CNLDO who underwent probing and irrigation treatment at the ophthalmology department of Imam Khomeini Hospital in Ahvaz,Iran,from June 2022 to June2024.A control group of 122 age-matched children without CNLDO was also included for *** was collected from the children's medical records.·RESULTS:The study found a significant correlation between the occurrence of CNLDO and several maternal factors,such as preeclampsia,the use of levothyroxine,hypothyroidism,having more than three pregnancies(gravidity>3),natural pregnancy,and gestational diabetes ***,in children,factors,such as oxygen therapy,anemia,reflux,jaundice,and a family history of CNLDO in first-degree relatives were associated with CNLDO,and maternal preeclampsia and hypothyroidism were found to significantly increase the risk of developing CNLDO in children.·CONCLUSION:Given that CNLDO affects both premature and full-term children,the present findings may potentially facilitate the early identification of children and infants at risk of nasolacrimal duct obstruction,thereby preventing the onset of chronic dacryocystitis.

Effect of melting temperature on microstructural evolutions, behavior and corrosion morphology of Hadfield austenitic manganese steel in the casting process

In this study, the effect of melting temperature on the microstructural evolutions, behavior, and corrosion morphology of Hadfield steel in the casting process is investigated. The mold was prepared by the sodium silicate/CO_2 method, using a blind riser, and then the desired molten steel was obtained using a coreless induction furnace. The casting was performed at melting temperatures of 1350, 1400, 1450, and 1500°C, and the cast blocks were immediately quenched in water. Optical microscopy was used to analyze the microstructure, and scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and X-ray diffractrometry(XRD) were used to analyze the corrosion morphology and phase formation in the microstructure, respectively. The corrosion behavior of the samples was analyzed using a potentiodynamic polarization test and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) in 3.5 wt% NaCl. The optical microscopy observations and XRD patterns show that the increase in melting temperature led to a decrease of carbides and an increase in the austenite grain size in the Hadfield steel microstructure. The corrosion tests results show that with increasing melting temperature in the casting process, Hadfield steel shows a higher corrosion resistance. The SEM images of the corrosion morphologies show that the reduction of melting temperature in the Hadfield steel casting process induced micro-galvanic corrosion conditions.

A new lanthanum complex formulated as {（bpyH2）[La（btc）（H2O）4（NO3）]·2H2O}n （1）（btcH4=benzene-1,2,4,5-tetracarboxylic acid; bpy=4,4＇-bipyridine） was hydrothermally synthesized. The complex was characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis and X-ray diffraction. X-ray crystal structural analysis revealed that the compound belonged to the monoclinic space group C2/c with cell parameters a= 1.42806（7） nm, b=1.10258（5） nm, c=1.60333（8） nm and β=101.9400（10）°. The complex was polymeric with La^III atoms linked by four O atoms from two carboxylate groups of one benzene-1,2,4,5-tetracarboxylate. The LaIn atom was ten coordinated in a distorted tetracapped trigonal prism. In the crystal structure, a wide range of noncovalent interactions consisting of hydrogen bonding （of the types of O-H…O, N-H…O and C-H…O） and ion pairing interactions connected the various components into a supramolecular structure.

A flow injection method is proposed for determining vanadium（V）. The method is based on its catalytic effect on the oxidation of malachite green oxalate by bromate. The reaction was monitored spectrophotometrically by measuring malachite green oxalate absorbance at λmax = 625 nm. The reagents and manifold variables, which have influences on the sensitivity, were investigated and the optimum conditions were established. The optimized conditions made it possible to determine vanadium in the ranges of 10-140 ng/mL with a detection limit of 5.2 ng/mL and a sample rate of 20 ± 5 samples/h.

A pyridine-based diacid was synthesized via nucleophilic substitution reaction of 4-hydroxy benzoic acid with 2,6- dichloropyridine in the presence of potassium carbonate. The diacid was characterized using FT-IR and 1H-NMR spectroscopic methods and also with elemental analysis. Polycondensation reaction of the diacid with different diols including 1,4-dihydroxy benzene, 1,5-dihydroxy naphthalene, bis-phenol A and bis-phenol-P resulted in preparation of pyridine-based poly（ether-ester）s. The polymers were characterized and their physical and thermal properties including inherent viscosity, molecular weight, solubility, thermal stability, thermal behavior and crystallinity were studied. They revealed high heat-resistance and improved solubility in polar solvents. Structure-property relations for the prepared polyester were also studied.

Metal oxides can be used as a series of new and effective anti-bacterial agents. In this study, four concentrations of ZnO nanoparticles （0.2, 0.5, 0.7 and 1.0 tool/L） were synthesized using a low-temperature sol-gel method annealed at 400 and 550 ℃. The products were characterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, transmission electron microscopy （TEM） and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR）. XRD results show the hexagonal wurtzite structure of the nanoparticles with the grain size in the range of 38-43 nm. TEM micrographs exhibit a polyhedral form of the synthesized nanoparticles. The antimicrobial activity of different concentrations of nanoparticles against Salmonella typhi PTCC 1609 was determined by disk diffusion and agar dilution method at five concentrations of 10, 5, 2.5, 1.25 and 0.625 mg/mL. Analysis shows that the prepared ZnO nanoparticles have a very effective antimicrobial activity against Salmonella typhi. This activity increases by reducing the size of nanoparticles and increasing their content in the bacterial growth medium.

Nonlinear Dust Acoustic Waves in a Magnetized Dusty Plasma with Trapped and Superthermal Electrons

In this work, the effects of superthermal and trapped electrons on the oblique propa- gation of nonlinear dust-acoustic waves in a magnetized dusty （complex） plasma are investigated. The dynamic of electrons is simulated by the generalized Lorentzian （k） distribution function （DF）. The dust grains are cold and their dynamics are simulated by hydrodynamic equations. Using the standard reductive perturbation technique （RPT） a nonlinear modified Korteweg-de Vries （mKdV） equation is derived. Two types of solitary waves; fast and slow dust acoustic solitons, exist in this plasma. Calculations reveal that compressive solitary structures are likely to propagate in this plasma where dust grains are negatively （or positively） charged. The properties of dust acoustic solitons （DASs） are also investigated numerically.

Theoretical Study and NBO Analysis of the Decomposition Kinetics of Oxetane, 2-Methyloxetane and 2,2-Dimethyloxetane

A theoretical study of the thermal decomposition kinetics of oxetane （1）, 2-methyloxetane （2）, and 2,2-dimethyloxetane （3） has been carried out at the B3LYP/6-311＋G＊＊, B3PW91/6-311＋G＊＊, and MPW1PW91/6-311＋G＊＊ levels of theory. The MPW1PW91/6-311＋G＊＊ method was found to give a reasonable good agreement with the experimental kinetics and thermodynamic parameters. The decomposition reaction of compounds 1～3 yields formaldehyde and the corresponding substituted olefin. Based on the optimized ground state geometries using MPW1PW91/6-311＋G＊＊ method, the natural bond orbital （NBO） analysis of donor-acceptor （bond-antibond） interactions revealed that the stabilization energies associated with the electronic delocalization from σC3-C4 bonding to σ＊O1-C2 antibonding orbitals decrease from compounds 1 to 3. The σC3-C4→σO1-C2 resonance energies for compounds 1～3 are 2.63, 2.59 and 2.45 kcal mol-1, respectively. Further, the results showed that the energy gaps between σC3-C4 bonding and σ＊O1-C2 antibonding orbitals decrease from compounds 1 to 3. Also, the decomposition process in these compounds are controlled by σ→σ＊ resonance energies. Moreover, the obtained order of energy barriers could be explained by the number of electron-releasing methyl groups substituted to the Csp3 atom （which is attached to oxygen atom）. NBO analysis shows that the occupancies of σCsp3-O bonds decrease for compounds 1～3 as 3〈2〈1, and those of σCsp3-O bonds increase in the opposite order （3 〉 2 〉 1）. This fact illustrates a comparatively easier thermal decomposition of the sCsp3-O bond in compound 3 compared to compound 2, and in compound 2 compared to compound 1. NBO results indicate that these reactions are occurring through a concerted and asynchronous four-membered cyclic transition state type of mechanism.
