How fertility preservation guidelines have progressed worldwide:Potential implications and inspiration

To summarize fertility preservation (FP) guidelines and consensus provided by medical facilities worldwide. Five reference databases (PubMed/Embase, China BioMedical Literature Database, ClinicalKey, Wanfang Data, and China Knowledge Resource Integrated) and 7 guideline databases (Guideline international Network, National Collaborating Centre for Women’s and Children’s Health, National Guideline Clearinghouse, The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network, New Zealand Guideline Group, and Canadian Medical association infobase) were searched. Official websites of societies were searched to find relevant guidelines and consensus, and guidelines and published systematic reviews and consensus were reviewed from inception through May 2021. A literature search was performed regarding guidance offered in professional facilities, and 304 records (including 4 in Chinese) of existing guidelines for full-text review were found. Moreover, 55 guidelines were identified after a manual search. The literature review demonstrated that FP guidance and options were unevenly distributed worldwide for women who wanted to post-pone pregnancy or had impaired fertility after gonadal toxicity. With promising cancer survival rates and diversified family decisions, more attention should be paid to the improvement and update of accessible guidelines and regulatory infrastructure to inform patients about the available options and empower them to make informed choices. Restrictions to such services can be gradually eased due to the efficacy and safety of certain FP techniques for the right candidates to initiate pregnancy conception.

Shape memory alloys(SMAs) thin films have attracted much attention in recent years as intelligent and functional materials because of their unique characteristics. The sputtering thin films have been attracted great interest as powerful actuators in microelectromechanical systems(MEMS) such as microvalves, microfluid pumps, and microgrippers. Amongst SMAs, the equiatomic Ti Ni compound is the most widely used. In this paper, Ti Ni films prepared by magnetron sputtering are reviewed. The influence of parameters including thickness, target, substrate temperature and work pressure on the microstructure and properties of Ti Ni films are analysised. In additionally, several Ti Ni based ternary alloys films such as Ti Ni Cu films, Ti NiP d films and Ti Ni Pt films are introduced. At last, the research direction of SMAs thin films is presented.

Effects of Environmental Noise on School Performance among Hearing-Impaired Students

Background and Purpose: Our study examined the effect of ambient noise on hearing and school performance in children with hearing loss, and the relationship between hearing loss and cognition. Method: A pilot study involving 728 people (aged 11 to 16 years) was conducted in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. All participants completed the ENAFEP test, the SIFTER short scale, pure tone audiometry, and a three-digit test. Teachers and investigators completed a 6-day listening training course. Results: Correlation and structural equation modeling indicated that ambient noise and five cognitive domains were associated with hearing in noise, but only unmeasured cognition was associated with hearing loss and poor academic performance. Cognitive compensation significantly reduces communication problems and improves concentration and academic performance. Noise and deafness had significant and moderate effects on academic performance (r = -0.13). Conclusion: The sample size and relatively high participation rate meant the study was representative. However, the results showed an association between ambient noise, hearing loss and cognition, and reduced school performance. Large-scale randomized interventions for hearing loss and long-term noise exposure studies are needed to measure cognitive outcomes after short- and multi-year noise exposure.

This study examined the moderating effects of parent-child,same-sex,opposite-sex and teacher-student relation-ships between sibling status and loneliness during COVID-19.A total of 1,591 adolescents in China completed the study questionnaires which assessed the aforementioned *** results showed that same-sex and teacher-student relationships moderated the association between sibling status and *** results indicated that among participants with good same-sex relationships during COVID-19,compared to non-only-children parti-cipants,the only-children participants were more likely to experience a lower level of ***,parti-cipants with poor same-sex relationships experienced similar level of loneliness regardless of whether they had *** would be helpful for parents,teachers,and other stakeholders to take effective measures to reduce loneliness feelings among Chinese adolescents.

Objectives:The difficulties in the early detection consequent to the lack of sensitive biomarkers render patients with cholangiocarcinoma(CCA)to have poor ***,sensitive and specific volatile organic compounds(VOCs)were identified in several ***,the VOC profiles in CCA are not ***,we investigated the VOC profiles in exhaled breath of CCA patients and ***:We prospectively collected exhaled breath samples from 30 consecutive patients newly diagnosed with CCA and 30 controls who did not have CCA(seven had benign biliary strictures and 23 had other medical conditions).Exhaled VOCs were identified using gas chromatography mass spectrometry Triple Quadrupoles *** of the significant differences in VOCs between cases and controls was conducted using supervised multivariate regression *** validation was performed for these VOCs in another cohort of 18 CCA patients and 22 ***:Levels of six compounds were significantly different between CCA patients and controls,namely,acetone,isopropyl alcohol,dimethyl sulfide,1,4-pentadiene,allyl methyl sulfide,and N,*** and dimethyl sulfide were independently associated with CCA as demonstrated in the multivariate *** the cut-off value of 8.59107 arbitrary unit(AU),acetone had a sensitivity and specificity of 82.1%and 75.8%,respectively,with an area under the receiving operator curve(AUROC)of 0.85 for the CCA *** level was also significantly different between cases and controls in the validation *** the same cut-off value,the sensitivity,specificity,and AUROC was 59.1%,66.7%,and 0.85,***:Breath analysis may potentially be useful for CCA diagnosis.A cohort of patients with earlystage CCA in further studies is needed to confirm the ability of exhaled VOCs for the early detection of CCA.

Changes in ocean heat content(OHC), salinity, and stratification provide critical indicators for changes in Earth’s energy and water cycles. These cycles have been profoundly altered due to the emission of greenhouse gasses and other anthropogenic substances by human activities, driving pervasive changes in Earth’s climate system. In 2022, the world’s oceans, as given by OHC, were again the hottest in the historical record and exceeded the previous 2021 record *** to IAP/CAS data, the 0–2000 m OHC in 2022 exceeded that of 2021 by 10.9 ± 8.3 ZJ(1 Zetta Joules = 1021Joules);and according to NCEI/NOAA data, by 9.1 ± 8.7 ZJ. Among seven regions, four basins(the North pacific, North Atlantic, the Mediterranean Sea, and southern oceans) recorded their highest OHC since the 1950s. The salinity-contrast index, a quantification of the “salty gets saltier–fresh gets fresher” pattern, also reached its highest level on record in 2022,implying continued amplification of the global hydrological cycle. Regional OHC and salinity changes in 2022 were dominated by a strong La Ni?a event. Global upper-ocean stratification continued its increasing trend and was among the top seven in 2022.
