Validation of a Swahili version of the World health organization 5-item well-being index among adults living with HIV and epilepsy in rural coastal Kenya

Objective:The purpose of this study was to evaluate the psychometric properties of the World health organization’s five item well-being index(WHO-5)when administered to adults living with HIV or epilepsy in a rural setting at the coast of ***:A case control study design was conducted among 230 adults aged 18-50 years,who comprised 147 cases(63 living with epilepsy and 84 living with HIV)and 83 healthy *** participants were administered to a faceto-face interview during which they completed the Swahili version of WHO-5 well-being index,the Major Depression Inventory(MDI)and responded to some items on their socio-demographic *** to assess internal consistency,construct validity,discriminant validity,and convergent validity of the Swahili version of WHO-5 well-being index was conducted.A multivariate regression was carried out to assess the association between psychological wellbeing(assessed using Swahili version of WHO-5 well-being index)and having a chronic illness(HIV or epilepsy).Results:The Swahili version of WHO-5 well-being index demonstrated good internal consistency with Cronbach alpha ranges of 0.86-0.88 among the three study *** tool had good discriminant validity.A one factor structure of the tool was obtained from confirmatory factor analysis(overall Comparative Fit Index=1.00,Tuckler Lewis Index=1.01,Root Mean Square of Error Approximation=0.00).Living with HIV or epilepsy in comparison to being a healthy control was significantly associated with greater odds of having sub-optimal psychological ***:Our findings demonstrate that the Swahili version of WHO-5 well-being index has good psychometric properties and is appropriate for use to evaluate psychological well-being among adults living with chronic conditions such as HIV or epilepsy from a rural low resource setting in *** its brevity and ease of use,the Swahili version of WHO-5 well-being index could potentially be used by lay wor

Cesarean section (CS), the most commonly surgical procedure, is performed to overcome certain types of dystocia and/or other complications. However, rates of CS with no medical indications have been increasing steadily in both developed and developing countries, exceeding the recommended rates of 10%—15%from the World health organization and the international healthcare community. Epidemiological data showed that higher CS rates may increase risks of certain adverse health outcomes in mothers and children.

Species delimitation is one of the most fundamental processes in *** undertakings,for instance,require explicit species concepts and criteria for species delimitation in order to be relevant and ***,a perfect species concept does not exist for ***,we review the species concepts commonly used in Basidiomycota,the second largest phylum of Fungi that contains some of the best known species of mushrooms,rusts,smuts,and jelly *** general,best practice is to delimitate species,publish new taxa,and conduct taxonomic revisions based on as many independent lines of evidence as possible,that is,by applying a so-called unifying(or integrative)conceptual ***,the types of data used vary considerably from group to *** this reason we discuss the different classes of Basidiomycota,and for each provide:(i)a general introduction with difficulties faced in species recognition,(ii)species concepts and methods for species delimitation,and(iii)community recommendations and conclusions.

The bone marrow in the skull is important for shaping immune responses in the brain and meninges, but its molecular makeup among bones and relevance in human diseases remain unclear. Here, we show that the mouse skull has the most distinct transcriptomic profile compared with other bones in states of health and injury, characterized by a late-stage neutrophil phenotype. In humans, proteome analysis reveals that the skull marrow is the most distinct, with differentially expressed neutrophil-related pathways and a unique synaptic protein signature. 3D imaging demonstrates the structural and cellular details of human skull-meninges connections (SMCs) compared with veins. Last, using translocator protein positronemission tomography (TSPO-PET) imaging, we show that the skull bone marrow reflects inflammatory brain responses with a disease-specific spatial distribution in patients with various neurological disorders. The unique molecular profile and anatomical and functional connections of the skull show its potential as a site for diagnosing, monitoring, and treating brain diseases.

The FAIR principles have been widely cited,endorsed and adopted by a broad range of stakeholders since their publication in *** intention,the 15 FAIR guiding principles do not dictate specific technological implementations,but provide guidance for improving Findability,Accessibility,Interoperability and Reusability of digital *** has likely contributed to the broad adoption of the FAIR principles,because individual stakeholder communities can implement their own FAIR ***,it has also resulted in inconsistent interpretations that carry the risk of leading to incompatible ***,while the FAIR principles are formulated on a high level and may be interpreted and implemented in different ways,for true interoperability we need to support convergence in implementation choices that are widely accessible and(re)-*** introduce the concept of FAIR implementation considerations to assist accelerated global participation and convergence towards accessible,robust,widespread and consistent FAIR *** self-identified stakeholder community may either choose to reuse solutions from existing implementations,or when they spot a gap,accept the challenge to create the needed solution,which,ideally,can be used again by other communities in the ***,we provide interpretations and implementation considerations(choices and challenges)for each FAIR principle.
