This study presents the crustal shear wave velocity structure and radial anisotropy along two linear seismic arrays across the North China Craton(NCC) from ambient noise *** a half to one year long ambient noise data from 87 stations were used for obtaining the inter-station surface wave empirical Green’s functions(ECFs) from *** and Love dispersion curves within the period band 5-30 s were measured from the EGFs of the vertical and transverse components,*** dispersion data were then used to determine the crustal shear wave velocity structure(V and V) and radial anisotropy (2(V - V) /(V + V)) from point-wise linear inversion with constraints from receiver function analysis. Our results reveal substantial structural variations among different parts of the *** Bohai Bay Basin in the eastern NCC is underlain by a thin crust(～30 km) with relatively low velocities(particularly V) and large positive radial anisotropy in the middle to lower *** a crustal structure is no longer of a cratonic type and may have resulted from the widespread tectonic extension and intensive magmatism in this region since late *** the Ordos Basin in the western NCC,the crust is relatively thicker(>40 km) and well stratified,and presents a large-scale low velocity zone in the middle to lower crust and overall weak radial anisotropy except for a localized lower crust *** overall structural features of this region resemble those of typical Precambrian shields,in agreement with the long-term stability of the *** crustal structure under the Trans North China Orogen(TNCO,central NCC) is more complicated and characterized by smaller scale velocity variations,strong positive radial anisotropy in the middle crust and rapid change to weak-to-negative anisotropy in the lower *** features may reflect complex deformations and crustmantle interactions,probably associated with tectonic extension and magmatic under

Overexpression of c-Myc-dependent heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A1 promotes proliferation and inhibits apoptosis in NOTCH1-mutated chronic lymphocytic leukemia cells

Background: NOTCH1 mutation is an essential molecular biologic aberration in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). CLL patients withNOTCH1 mutation have shown an unfavorable survival and a poor response to chemoimmunotherapy. This study aims to present the mechanisms of adverse prognosis caused byNOTCH1 mutation from the perspective of the splicing factor heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A1 (hnRNPA1).Methods: The microarray data in Gene Expression Omnibus datasets were analyzed by bioinformatics and the function of hnRNPA1 was checked by testing the proliferation and apoptosis of CLL-like cell lines. Afterward, quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and western blotting were applied to explore the relationship among NOTCH1, c-Myc, and ***: RNA splicing was found to play a vital part inNOTCH1-mutated CLL cells;hence, hnRNPA1 was selected as the focus of this study. Higher expression of hnRNPA1 validated in primaryNOTCH1-mutated CLL samples could promote proliferation and inhibit apoptosis in CLL. The expression of hnRNPA1 increased when NOTCH1 signaling was activated by transfection with NOTCH1 intracellular domain (NICD)-overexpressed adenovirus vector and declined after NOTCH1 signaling was inhibited by NOTCH1-shRNA. Higher expression of c-Myc was observed in NICD-overexpressed cells and hnRNPA1 expression was downregulated after applying c-Myc inhibitor 10058-F4. Moreover, in NICD-overexpressed cells, hnRNPA1 expression decreased through c-Myc ***: Overexpression of c-Myc-dependent hnRNPA1 could promote proliferation and inhibit apoptosis inNOTCH1- mutated CLL cells, which might partly account for the poor prognosis of patients withNOTCH1 mutation.

Monitoring the Amery Ice Shelf front during 2004-2012 using ENVISAT ASAR data

The Amery Ice Shelf is the largest ice shelf in East Antarctica. It drains continental ice from an area of more than one million square kilometres through a section of coastline that represents approximately 2% of the total circumference of the Antarctic continent. In this study, we used a time series of ENVISAT ASAR images from 2004-2012 and flow lines derived from surface velocity data to monitor the changes in 12 tributaries of the Amery Ice Shelf front. The results show that the Amery Ice Shelf has been expanding and that the rates of expansion differ across the shelf. The highest average annual rate of advance from 2004-2012 was 3.36 m＇d-1 and the lowest rate was 1.65 m.d-1. The rates in 2009 and 2010 were generally lower than those in other years. There was a low correlation between the rate of expansion and the atmospheric temperature recorded at a nearby research station, however the mechanism of the relationship was complex. This study shows that the expansion of the Amery Ice Shelf is slowing down, reflecting a changing trend in climate and ice conditions in East Antarctica.

Solar energetic particles(SEPs) affect the solar–terrestrial space environment and are very important to space weather *** this work,we numerically investigate the transport processes of SEPs in the three-dimensional interplanetary magnetic field,with an emphasis on the longitudinal distribution of SEPs in the *** confirm our previous finding that there exists an east–west longitudinal asymmetry in the SEP intensities,i.e.,with the same longitude separations between the solar source centers and the magnetic footpoint of the observer,the fluxes of SEP events originating from solar sources located on the eastern side of the nominal magnetic footpoint of the observer are systematically larger than those of the SEP events originating from sources located on the western *** discuss the formation mechanism of this phenomenon,and conclude that the longitudinally asymmetric distribution of SEPs results from the east–west azimuthal asymmetry in the topology of the heliospheric magnetic field as well as the effects of perpendicular diffusion on the transport of SEPs in the *** results will be valuable to understanding Sun–Earth relations and useful for space weather forecasting.

Tonstein layers are found worldwide in the Permo-Carboniferous coal-bearing *** study investigates the geochronology,mineralogy,and geochemistry of four tonstein samples from the Permo-Carboniferous Benxi Formation,Ordos Basin,North China Craton(NCC).The typical features of the studied tonsteins include thin beds,lateral continuity,angular quartz grains,and euhedral zircons with similar U-Pb ages,indicating a significant pyroclastic *** addition,the tonstein samples have low TiO_(2)/Al_(2)O_(3)ratios(western margin of the NCC during the early Permian,implying that the Alxa Terrane had not amalgamated with the NCC at that time.

Origin of the Diamonds within Chromitite from the Mirdita Ophiolite(Albania) and its Geological Significance

Geophysical investigations and laboratory experiments show evidence for possible subduction of ancient oceanic *** and mineralogical observations suggest that subducted oceanic crust is recycled into the upper *** subduction is supported by the recovery of superdeep diamonds from kimberlites and the presence of crustal materials in ophiolitic chromitites and their host *** is the mechanism?Here we report the new discovery of ophiolite-hosted diamonds in the podiform chromitites within the Skenderbeu massif from the Mirdita ophiolite in the western part of Neo-Tethys(Fig.1).The diamonds are characterized by exceedingly light C isotopes(δ13CPDB^-25‰),which can be interpreted as evidence for subduction of organic carbon from Earth’s *** diamonds are also characterized by an exceptionally large range inδ15Nair(-12.9‰to+25.5‰),accompanied by a low N aggregation state(Fig.2).On the other hand,materials sparsely included in diamonds include amorphous material,Ni-Mn-Co alloy,nanocrystals(20 nm×20 nm)of calcium silicate with an orthorhombic perovskite structure(Ca-Pv),and fluids(Fig.3).We consider that the Skenderbeu diamonds nucleated and grew from a C-saturated,NiMnCo-rich melt derived from a subducted slab of ocean crust and lithosphere in the deep mantle *** environment is in the diamond stability field or near the top of the mantle transition *** new discovery of diamonds from the Mirdita ophiolite provides a valuable opportunity to understand deep cycling of subducted oceanic crust and mantle(i.e.,composition and process).

Major and trace element compositions of constituent minerals,partly decomposed rims of orthopyroxenes (DRO),’closed’ melt pockets(CMP) and open melt pockets (OMP) in some western Qinling peridotite xenoliths were obtained by *** core-to-rim compositional variations of garnet,clinopyroxene and orthopyroxene demonstrate that these minerals underwent variable degrees of subsolidus breakdown or partial *** DROs and CMPs consist of similar mineral assemblages and are characterized by high TiO,CaO + NaO and low MgO contents;they arc enriched in LREE and LILE compositions,have positive anomalies in Pb,Sr and particularly Ti,negative Th and U,and variable Zr and Hf *** chemical features are distinct and reflect reactions involving the ortho-pyroxenes. Compared to the CMPs,the OMPs,which are composed of a complex assemblage of minerals,display lower FeO and MgO contents,larger ranges in SiO and NaO, higher TiO,A1O,CaO and trace element concentrations, slightly negative Zr and Hf anomalies,and apparently negative Ti *** calculations of partial fusion of ortho-pyroxenes and clinopyroxenes suggest that the CMPs most likely originated from the breakdown of orthopyroxenes with variably minor contribution of external melts from the melting of clinopyroxenes,whereas the OMPs were probably formed from the modification of the CMPs through the interaction with large amount of external melts.

Seasonal variation of transport pathways and potential source areas at high inorganic nitrogen wet deposition sites in southern China

This study attempts to identify the dominant transport pathways,potential source areas,and their seasonal variation at sites with high inorganic nitrogen(IN)wet deposition flux in southern *** is a long-term study(2010-2017)based on continuous deposition measurements at the Guangzhou urban site(GZ)and the Dinghushan Natural Reserve site(DHS)located in the Pearl River Delta(PRD)region.A dataset on monthly IN concentration in precipitation and wet deposition flux were *** average annual fluxes measured at both sites(GZ:33.04±9.52,DHS:20.52±10.22 kg N/(ha·year))were higher,while the ratios of reduced to oxidized N(GZ:1.19±0.77,DHS:1.25±0.84)were lower compared with the national mean level and the previous reported level throughout the PRD *** dominant pathways were not always consistent with the highest proportional trajectory *** transport pathways contributing most of deposition were identified in the north and northnortheast in the dry season and in the east-southeast,east,and south-southwest in the wet season.A weighted potential source contribution function(WPSCF)value>0.3 was determined reasonably to define the potential source *** within the PRD region contributed the majority(≥95%at both sites)of the IN deposition in the wet season,while the contribution outside the region increased significantly in the dry season(GZ:27.86%,DHS:95.26%).Our results could help create more effective policy to control precursor emissions for IN fluxes,enabling reduction of the ecological risks due to excessive nitrogen.

Mantle xenoliths from the western Qinling,central China,are dominated by lherzolites,which can be divided into four subgroups-namely,garnet-facies,coexisting spinel-garnet,spinel-facies,and carbonate-bearing *** these rocks display light rare earth element enrichment,positive Sr and Ba anomalies,carbonatite-like trace element patterns,and Sr-Nd-Pb isotopic mixing between depleted mantle and enriched mantle type II end members,consistent with the geochemical features resulting from carbonatite *** garnet-facies lherzolites show high trace element concentrations but low La/Yb ratios,and they show high Sr and Pb isotopic ratios that are similar to those of carbonatites,suggesting that they were highly *** spinel-facies group has the lowest trace element concentrations but higher La/Yb ratios than the garnet-facies group;their lowest Sr and Pb isotopic ratios are closer to those of the depleted mantle end member,implying low-degree *** variation of the coexisting spinel-garnet sample lies between that of the garnet and spinel *** elevated and highly variable trace element concentrations and Sr-Pb isotopic values of the carbonate-bearing lherzolite group are most likely related to the modal content of carbonate ***,these geochemical features indicate a rising front of carbonatite metasomatism in the lithospheric mantle beneath the western *** experimental and empirical data,the positive Pb,Y,and high-field strength element anomalies in the peridotites might be ascribed to the involvement of a subduction component in the carbonatite *** the basis of the data presented in this article,we propose a general model for carbonatite metasomatism in the lithospheric mantle to interpret the different signatures recorded in the garnet-facies peridotites(chemical imprint) and spinel-facies peridotites(occurrence of carbonate minerals),which has potential application to other regions that
