Vibration properties of Paulownia wood for Ruan sound quality using machine learning methods

As an important material for manufacturing resonant components of musical instruments,Paulownia has an important influence on the sound quality of *** this paper,a model for evaluating the sound quality of Ruan based on the vibration characteristics of wood is developed using machine learning ***,the selection of materials for Ruan manufacturing relies primarily on manually weighing,observing,striking,and listening by the instrument *** in scientific theory have hindered the quality of the finished *** this study,nine Ruans were manufactured,and a prediction model of Ruan sound quality was proposed based on the raw material information of *** of a total of 180 data sets,145 and 45 sets were chosen for training and validation,*** this paper,typical correlation analysis was used to determine the correlation between two single indicators in two adjacent pairwise combinations of the measured objects in each stage of the production process in *** vibra-tion characteristics of the wood were tested,and a model for predicting the evaluation of Ruan’s acoustic qualities was developed by measuring the vibration characteristics of the resonating plate *** acoustic quality of the Ruan sound board wood was evaluated and predicted using machine learning model generalized regression neural *** results show that the prediction of Ruan sound quality can be achieved using Matlab simulation based on the vibration characteristics of the soundboard *** the model-predicted values were compared with the tradi-tional predicted results,it was found that the generalized regression neural network had good performance,achieving an accuracy of 93.8%which was highly consistent with the experimental *** was concluded that the model can accurately predict the acoustic quality of the Ruan based on the vibration performance of the soundboards.

In this paper we present a research-through-design study where we employed text-to-text,text-to-image,and image-to-image generative tools for a conceptual architecture project for the eVolo skyscraper *** trained these algorithms on a dataset that we collected and curated,consisting of texts about and images of *** describe our design process,present the final proposal,reflect on the usefulness of such tools for early-stage design,and discuss implications for future research and *** analysing the results from training the text-to-text generators we could establish a specific design brief that informed the final *** results from the image-to-image generator gave an overview of the shape grammars of previous *** results were intriguing and can assist creativity and in this way,the tools were useful for gaining insight into historical architectural data,helped shape a specific design brief,and provoked new *** reflecting on our design process,we argue that the use of language when employing such tools takes a new role and that three layers of language intertwined in our work:architectural discourse,programming languages,and *** present a map that unfolds how these layers came together as a contribution to making machine learning more explainable for creatives.

The imbalance of rural parking supply and demand has a great impact on traffic congestion and environmental pollution,which has attracted the attention of many scholars as well as ***,most of the current research on parking choice focuses on urban business and residential areas rather than on rural parking choice behaviour,and focuses on the analysis of observable factors,ignoring the internal relationship with potential *** study considers the heterogeneity of individuals and uses the random forest(RF)algorithm to construct a model of rural residents’willingness to choose parking with both latent and explicit variables,to explore how much and in what ways individual characteristics and parking characteristics affect rural residents’parking choices,and to explore parking planning programmes and strategies that are truly applicable to rural *** results of the study suggest that the safety and convenience of the parking environment are key factors influencing the parking choice behaviour of rural residents,and can greatly improve the predictive accuracy of the parking willingness *** comparison,it is found that the application of the RF algorithm is also significantly better than the logit model in terms of prediction effect,indicating that there is a nonlinear effect among the factors influencing the parking choice behaviour of rural residents and that the RF model with the addition of latent variables provides a better explanatory ability for the study of the parking choice behaviour of rural residents.

Individual travel behaviors demonstrate a degree of regularity， particularly concerning time， space， and frequency repetition. Measuring the regularity of individual travel behavior contributes to understanding variations among individuals and provides opportunities for personalized transportation services. However， previous measurement methods have not comprehensively addressed these three aspects simultaneously or sufficiently captured the repetition of "basic travel behaviors"， while also relying on diverse data types without a comprehensive methodology covering multiple datasets. To address these research gaps， this paper presents an innovative method for measuring the regularity of individual users， which considers the repetition of basic travel behaviors along with temporal， spatial， and frequency dimensions. Applying this method to historical trip data from bike-sharing and subway systems has illustrated the effectiveness and applicability of the approach proposed in this paper. The findings suggest the broad applicability of this method across various data types， provided that the data allows for the extraction of information regarding users' travel origins and destinations. Moreover， this method effectively produces a regularity value to assess and compare the overall regularity of users， surpassing previous limitations that solely relied on using frequency as an initial filter or distinguishing users as regular or irregular based solely on frequency thresholds.

The flow field near a spur dike such as down flow and horseshoe vortex system(HVS)are susceptible to the topographic changes in the local scouring process,resulting in variation of the sediment transport with *** this study,large eddy simulations with fixed-bed at different scouring stages were conducted to investigate the changes in flow *** results imply that the bed deformation leads to an increase in flow rate per unit area,which represent the capability of sediment transportation by water,in the scour ***,the intensity of turbulent kinetic energy and bimodal motion near the sand bed induced by the HVS were also ***,the peak moments between the two sediment transport mechanisms were ***,understanding the complex feedback mechanism between topography and flow field is essential for the local scour problem.

Biobased Furfurylated Poplar Wood for Flame-Retardant Modification with Boric Acid and Ammonium Dihydrogen Phosphate

Furfurylated wood exhibits excellent dimensional stability and corrosion resistance, making it a promising material for constructing buildings, but it is highly flammable. Herein, flame-retardant furfurylated poplar wood was produced via a two-step process utilizing boric acid (BA) and ammonium dihydrogen phosphate (ADP) as flame-retardant components, and biomass-derived furfuryl alcohol (FA) as a modifier. The acidity of BA and ADP allowed them to catalyze the polymerization of FA, which formed a cross-linked network that immobilized BA and ADP inside the wood. The addition of BA/ADP substantially delayed the time to ignition from 10 to 385 s and reduced the total heat release and total smoke release by 58.75% and 77.31%, respectively. Analysis of the pyrolysis process showed that the decomposition products of BA and ADP protected the underlying furfurylated wood and diluted combustible gases. This method significantly improved the fire retardancy and smokeless properties of furfurylated wood, providing promising prospects for its application as an engineering material. © 2024 The Authors.

This study was aimed to explore the feasibility of introducing two mainstream AI drawing applications,Midjournal and Stable Diffusion,into the environmental art and design courses in higher education *** the basis of introducing the development history of AI drawing technology,the characteristics of Midjournal and Stable Diffusion and their applications in teaching were described in *** analysis on its practical application in public space design courses showed that AI drawing technology could significantly improve students’creative efficiency and the possibility of artistic creation,while also enriching the expressive power of *** spite of the challenges such as technical accuracy,response to complex design requirements,hardware dependencies,and student dependencies,the application of AI drawing technology had an overall positive prospects in the field of ***,the value of AI drawing technology in teaching was emphasized,and the challenges it brought were discussed,as well as how to fully utilize this technology while maintaining teaching objectives and educational principles.

Development of MoS_(2)-stainless steel catalyst by 3D printing for efficient destruction of organics via peroxymonosulfate activation

Herein,a novel MoS_(2)-stainless steel composite material was first synthetized via a 3D printing method(3DP MoS_(2)-SS)for peroxymonosulfate(PMS)activation and organics *** with MoS_(2)-SS powder/PMS system(0.37 g/(m^(2)/min)),4.3-fold higher k_(FLO)/S_(BET)value was obtained in 3DP MoS_(2)-SS/PMS system(1.60 g/(m^(2)/min),resulting from the superior utilization of active *** observed that 3DP MoS_(2)-SS significantly outperformed the 3DP SS due to the enhanced electron transfer rate and increased active ***,Mo^(4+)facilitated the Fe^(2+)/Fe^(3+)cycle,resulting in the rapid degradation of florfenicol(FLO).Quenching experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance spectra indicated that·OH,SO_(4)·^(-),O_(2)·^(-)and^(1)O_(2)were involved in the degradation of *** effect of influencing factors on the degradation of FLO were evaluated,and the optimized degradation efficiency of 98.69%was achieved at 1 mM PMS and pH of *** degradation products were detected by UPLC/MS analyses and several possible degradation pathways were proposed to be the cleavage of C-N bonds,dechlorination,hydrolysis,defluorination and *** addition,3DP MoS_(2)-SS/PMS system also demonstrated superior degradation performance for 2-chlorophenol,acetaminophen,ibuprofen and *** study provided deep insights into the MoS_(2)-SS catalyst prepared by 3DP technology for PMS activation and FLO-polluted water treatment.
