Studies have extensively addressed the development of electrocatalytic technologies for energy storage and conversion,fuel production,and environmental *** processes such as different oxidation and reduction reactions play a vital and significant role in these *** this regard,efficient,inexpensive,and stable electrocatalysts capable can significantly promote electrochemical *** features of metal–organic frameworks(MOFs)such as their high porosity,tunable structure,size,and pore shape,high surface area,and redox properties have introduced them as an ideal electrocatalyst *** review is thus aimed at elucidating the role of MOF-based materials(pristine,derivatives and composites)as efficient electrocatalysts in energy and sensing-related oxidation and reduction reactions such as oxygen reduction reaction(ORR),hydrogen oxidation reaction(HOR),carbon dioxide reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR),urea oxidation reaction(UOR),alcohol oxidation reaction(AOR),nitrogen reduction reaction(NRR),and glucose oxidation reaction(GOR)in advanced energy and sensing ***,the structure–property relationship of the electrocatalyst was elaborated for each electrocatalytic ***,perspectives on the potential research topics for practical use of MOF-based electrocatalysts are *** present review can improve the interest in MOF-based electrocatalysts to study different oxidation and reduction reactions in energy and sensing systems.

Objective:Contribute to clarifying the existence of subclinical hearing deficits associated with ***:In this work,we study and compare the auditory perceptual and electrophysiological performance of normal-hearing young and adult subjects(tonal audiometry,high-frequency tone threshold,a triplet of digits in noise,and click-evoked auditory brainstem response).Study sample:45 normal hearing volunteers were evaluated and divided into two groups according to age.27 subjects were included in the“young group”(mean 22.1 years),and 18 subjects(mean 42.22 years)were included in the“adult group.”Results:In the perceptual tests,the adult group presented significantly worse tonal thresholds in the high frequencies(12 and 16 kHz)and worse performance in the digit triplet tests in *** the electrophysiological test using the auditory brainstem response technique,the adult group presented significantly lower I and V wave amplitudes and higher V wave latencies at the supra-threshold *** the threshold level,we observed a significantly higher latency in wave V in the adult *** addition,in the partial correlation analysis,controlling for the hearing level,we observed a relationship(negative)between age and speech in noise performance and high-frequency *** significant association was observed between age and the auditory brainstem ***:The results are compatible with subclinical hearing loss associated with aging.

Ni-Mo-P coatings are obtained at the surface of ceramic substrate by electroless deposition using palladium as a surface *** influence of catalyst activation conditions on coatings’ properties was assessed by structural,morphological,electrical,mechanical measurements and adhesion strength by using X-ray diffraction,field emission scanning electron microscopy,atomic force microscopy,Hall effect and nanoindentation techniques,*** results indicated the formation of dense,continuous and uniform coatings consisting mainly of *** coatings obtained at 300℃for 12 h exhibited the best electrical properties,namely resistivity of 9.32 μΩ cm,smaller roughness(Ra 0.090 μm) and average mechanical *** adhesion tests showed a firm adherence of the Ni-Mo-P coatings to the ceramic *** results of this study could offer an approach for obtaining conducting ceramic substrates in order to be employed in photovoltaic *** performance of demonstrative heterojunction solar cell obtained with such metallized ceramic is indicative of the high potential of the Ni-Mo-P electroless coatings for functional ceramics.

We propose a realistic topological p-n junction （TPNJ） by matching two Bi2Se3 （0001） slabs with opposite arrangements of planar twin boundary defects. The atomistic modeling of such a device leads to dislocation defects in the hexagonal lattice in several quintuple layers. Nevertheless, total energy calculations reveal that the interface relaxes, yielding a smooth geometrical transition that preserves the nearest-neighbors fcc-type geometry throughout these defect layers. The electronic, magnetic, and transport properties of the junction have then been calculated at the ab initio level under open boundary conditions, i.e., employing a thin-film geometry that is infinite along the electron transport direction. Indeed, a p-n junction is obtained with a built-in potential as large as 350 meV. The calculations further reveal the spin texture across the interface with unprecedented detail. As the main result, we obtain non-negligible transmission probabilities around the F point, which involve an electron spin-flip process while crossing the interface.

Rapidly solidified Al 87 Ni 7Cu 3Nd 3 metallic glasses were prepared by using melt spinning. Its calorimetric behavior was characterized by using differential scanning calorimeter. The metallic glasses were partially crystallized under continuous heating regime. Primary crystallization was studied through structural characterization of the amorphous and partially crystallized ribbons by means of conventional X ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy with selected area electron diffraction. The results show that, the as spun ribbons are fully amorphous and homogeneous on the micron scale, but contain high density of nanoscale quenched in clusters or crystallite embryos. Primary crystallization mainly leads to formation of two phase mixture of α Al nanocrystalline and residual amorphous phase. Precipitation of α Al nanoparticles is limited by build up and overlapped diffusion field of solute atoms with low diffusion rate. At the earlier stage of primary crystallization the crystal nuclei exhibit high density and growth rate. With the α Al crystal growing, the crystal growth rate decreases, and even at the later stage further crystallization into α Al crystal becomes difficult to occur due to thermal stabilization of the residual nickel and neodymium enriched amorphous phase, the saturated values of crystallized volume fraction and α Al crystal diameter getting to 20%30% and 515 nm.

The synthesis and self-assembly of tetragonal phase-containing L10-Fe55Pt45 nanorods with high coercive field is described. The experimental procedure resulted in a tetragonal/cubic phase ratio close to 1：1 for the as-synthesized nanoparticles. Using different surfactant/solvent proportions in the process allowed control of particle morphology from nanospheres to nanowires. Monodisperse nanorods with lengths of 60 ＋ 5 nm and diameters of 2-3 nm were self-assembled in a perpendicular oriented array onto a substrate surface using hexadecylamine as organic spacer. Magnetic alignment and properties assigned, respectively, to the shape anisotropy and the tetragonal phase suggest that the self-assembled materials are a strong candidate to solve the problem of random magnetic alignment observed in FePt nanospheres leading to applications in ultrahigh magnetic recording （UHMR） systems capable of achieving a performance of the order of terabits/in2.

Single-layer MoS_(2)produced by mechanical exfoliation is usually connected to thicker and multilayer *** show a facile laser trimming method to insulate single-layer MoS_(2)regions from thicker *** demonstrate,through electrical characterization,that the laser trimming method can be used to pattern single-layer MoS_(2)channels with regular geometry and electrically disconnected from the thicker *** photocurrent microscope further confirms that in the as-deposited flake(connected to a multilayer area)most of the photocurrent is being generated in the thicker flake *** laser trimming,scanning photocurrent microscopy shows how only the single-layer MoS_(2)region contributes to the photocurrent *** presented method is a direct-write and lithography-free(no need of resist or wet chemicals)alternative to reactive ion etching process to pattern the flakes that can be easily adopted by many research groups fabricating devices with MoS_(2) and similar twodimensional materials.

This work focuses on the changes of raw hydroxyapatite obtained from porcine bones during heat treatment with heating rates of 2.5 and 5.0 °C/min between 600 °C and 1100 °C. High-Resolution transmission electron microscopy(HR-TEM) images showed that raw hydroxyapatite was formed by high-ordered nanometric platelet crystals with a length of around 18 nm and width around 7 nm. High-Resolution scanning electron microscopy(HR-SEM) images evidenced the coalescence phenomena during heating giving. It was found that the growth of the crystals and the transition from nano to a micro-size occurred at around 700 °C. And the changes in the full width at half maximum(FWHM) for the characteristic(002) plane of the X-ray diffraction patterns and the FWHM of the characteristic Raman band at 960 cm-1 for ν1 PO43-exhibited the transition from nano to a micro size, that was confirmed by HR-SEM images and the thermogravimetric(TG) analysis. The porosity of the BIOHAp changes from intra nanometric to intercrystalline.

Breeding effects on the genotype×environment interaction for yield of durum wheat grown after the Green Revolution:The case of Spain

This study evaluates the changes caused by breeding in the genotype by environment(G×E)interaction of the durum wheat varieties most widely cultivated in Spain after the Green Revolution.A set of 12 cultivars was tested in 27 environments,which are understood as the combination of different sites,years,and treatments(water regime and planting dates),representative of the durum wheat growing conditions in Spain with average grain yields(GY)ranging between 2.8 and 9.1 Mg ha^-*** most important environmental factors affecting the G×E interaction for yield were themaximum and the mean temperature during the entire crop *** improvement in genetic yield was observed in warm environments and under optimal water conditions that resemble those where the germplasm originated(essentially as advanced lines)before its release in ***,the adaptation of semi-dwarf durum in Spain has shown a tendency to specific adaptation rather than large-scale *** different patterns of selection have been reported due the G×E interaction and changes in the ranking of genotypes:in the high yielding environments(GY>5 Mg ha^-1),plants favor increased water uptake,with higher levels of transpiration and more open stomata(more negative values of carbon isotope composition,δ^13 C,and higher canopy temperature depression,CTD),whereas,in low yielding environments(GY<5 Mg ha^-1)plants close their stomata and favor greater water use efficiency(less negativeδ^13 C values and lower CTD values).
