The catalytic performance during the 1-butyne hydrogenation using two reduced Al_(2) O_(3)-supported Pdbased catalysts was carried out in a total recirculation system with an external fixed-bed *** lab-prepared egg-shell NiPd/CeO_(2)-Al_(2) O_(3) catalyst(NiPdCe) with Pd loading=0.5 wt%,Ni/Pd atomic ratio=1 and CeO_(2) loading=3 wt% was synthesized and characterized,and it was compared with an egg-shell Al_(2) O_(3)-supported Pd based commercial catalyst(PdCC).The reduced catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,and high-resolution transmission electron *** textural characteristics and ammonia temperature-programmed desorption profiles of the fresh(unreduced) catalysts were also *** catalysts show high 1-butyne conversion and selectivity to 1-butene,but the catalysts also present important differences between hydroisomerizing and hydrogenating *** catalyst shows higher capability for hydroisomerization reactions,while the PdCC catalyst exhibits higher hydrogenating *** observed catalytic performances can be interesting for some industrial processes and can provide a guideline for the development of a Pd-based catalyst with specific catalytic properties.

Antisana is a stratovolcano with an associated glacier located in the Ecuadorian Andes. dr Aguirre made meteorological readings every day, at every hour from sunrise to sunset, from december 1845 to december 1846, at Antisana using a meteorological station at 4060 mamsl （meters above mean sea level）. Unfortunately, only the monthly average data have been preserved. These meteorological data are here studied and compared with the closest modern stations for monthly values of temperature, rainfall, and pressure. According to these comparisons, the year 1846 was rainy and cold in comparison with the current climate. Moreover, these observations have been useful to help resolve a debate about a possible E1Nifio event in 1846 with the high precipitation in Antisana and Quito in 1846 discarding the occurrence of an E1 Nifio event. The probable occurrence of a La Nifia event is discussed. These data are the earliest known systematic instrumental meteorological observations taken at above 4000 mamsl.

A simple and fast method to calculate the coil currents and the external poloidal flux and magnetic field consistent with a given internal magnetohydrodynamic(MHD) equilibrium and coil geometry is presented. The constrained optimization technique employed allows to fix the exact position of the X-points. The external poloidal flux and field are calculated using Green's functions expressed in terms of elliptic integrals that are calculated using a fast and accurate *** calculation can be limited to the region between the plasma and the device wall. An example for a double null configuration is presented.

Over the past century,age-related diseases,such as cancer,type-2 diabetes,obesity,and mental illness,have shown a significant increase,negatively impacting overall quality of *** on aged animal models have unveiled a progressive discoordination at multiple regulatory levels,including transcriptional,translational,and post-translational processes,resulting from cellular stress and circadian *** circadian clock emerges as a key regulator,sustaining physiological homeostasis and promoting healthy aging through timely molecular coordination of pivotal cellular processes,such as stem-cell function,cellular stress responses,and inter-tissue communication,which become disrupted during *** the crucial role of hypothalamic circuits in regulating organismal physiology,metabolic control,sleep homeostasis,and circadian rhythms,and their dependence on these processes,strategies aimed at enhancing hypothalamic and circadian function,including pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches,offer systemic benefits for healthy *** brain-directed drug administration represents a promising avenue for effectively targeting specific brain regions,like the hypothalamus,while reducing side effects associated with systemic drug delivery,thereby presenting new therapeutic possibilities for diverse age-related conditions.

Litterfall is the largest source of nutrients to for-est soils of tropical ***,variability in lit-terfall production,nutrient remobilization,and changes in leaf nutrient concentration with climate seasonality remain largely unknown for the central *** study meas-ured litterfall production,leaf nutrient remobilization,and leaf area index on a forest plateau in the central *** was measured at monthly intervals during 2014,while nitrogen,phosphorus,potassium,calcium and mag-nesium concentrations of leaf litter and canopy leaves were measured in the dry and rainy seasons,and remobilization rates *** area index was also recorded in the dry and rainy *** litterfall varied from 33.2(in the rainy season)to 87.6 g m^(-2) in the dry season,while leaf area index increased slightly in the rainy *** seasonality had no effect on concentrations of nitrogen,calcium,and magnesium,whereas phosphorous and potassium responded to rainfall seasonality *** phosphorous increased,potassium decreased during the dry *** seasons,nitrogen,potassium,and phosphorous decreased in leaf litter;calcium increased in leaf litter,while magnesium remained unaffected with leaf ***,the five nutrients had similar remobilization rates over the *** absence of climate seasonality on nutrient remobilization suggests that the current length of the dry season does not alter nutrient remobilization rates but this may change as dry periods become more prolonged in the future due to climate change.

Trypanosoma rangeli and *** are both parasitic unicellular species that infect *** ***,the causative agent of Chagas disease,*** is an infective and non-pathogenic parasite for humans,but pathogenic for vectors from the Rhodnius *** both species can coexist in different hosts and overlap their infective cycles but very little is known about the infection of *** in mammalian cells,we decided to characterize both the development of this parasite in cell culture and the effect of therapeutic agents with potential trypanocidal action on *** found that *** exhibits a cycle of infection in Vero cells similar to that for *** and that the repurposed drug,17-AAG,and the natural extract Artemisia *** oil produce a toxic effect on epimastigotes showing a trypanocidal action from the fifth day of *** treatments also affected the infection of trypomastigotes and reduced the capacity of replication of amastigotes of *** ***/*** coinfection cases have been reported,the finding of drugs with potential activity against both species could be significant in the ***,studies of susceptibility of both species to drugs could also help to know the different mechanisms of pathogenicity in humans displayed by *** that are absent in ***.

New Precipitation and Temperature Grids for Northern Patagonia： Advances in Relation to Global Climate Grids

Climate data of mean monthly temperature and total monthly precipitation compiled from different sources in northern Patagonia were interpolated to 20-km resolution grids over the period 1997-2010. This northern Patagonian climate grid （NPCG） improves upon previous gridded products in terms of its spatial resolution and number of contributing stations, since it incorporates 218 and 114 precipitation and temper- ature records, respectively. A geostatistical method using surface elevation from a Digital Elevation Model （deM） as the ancillary variable was used to interpolate station data into even spaced points. The maps provided by NPCG are consistent with the broad spatial and temporal patterns of the northern Patagonian climate, showing a comprehensive representation of the latitudinal and altitudinal gradients in temperature and precipitation, as well as their related patterns of seasonality and continentality. We compared the per- formance of NPCG and various other datasets available to the climate community for northern Patagonia. The grids used for the comparison included those of the Global Precipitation Climatology Project, ERA- Interim, Climate Research Unit （University of East Anglia）, and University of delaware. Based on three statistics that quantitatively assess the spatial coherence of gridded data against available observations （bias, MAE, and RMSE）, NPCG outperforms other global grids. NPCG represents a useful tool for understand- ing climate variability in northern Patagonia and a valuable input for regional models of hydrological and ecological processes. Its resolution is optimal for validating data from the general circulation models and working with raster data derived from remote sensing, such as vegetation indices.

Natural ventilation(NV)is a key passive strategy to design energy-efficient buildings and improve indoor air ***,accurate modeling of the NV effects is a basic requirement to include this technique during the building design ***,there is an important lack of wind pressure coefficients(CP)data,essential input parameters for NV *** this,there are no simple but still reliable tools to predict CP data on buildings with arbitrary shapes and surrounding conditions,which means a significant limitation to NV modeling in real *** this reason,the present contribution proposes a novel cloud-based platform to predict wind pressure coefficients on *** platform comprises a set of tools for performing fully unattended computational fluid dynamics(CFD)simulations of the atmospheric boundary layer and getting reliable CP data for actual ***-expert decisions throughout the entire workflow are implemented to automatize the generation of the computational domain,the meshing procedure the solution stage,and the post-processing of the *** evaluate the performance of the platform,an exhaustive validation against wind tunnel experimental data is carried out for a wide range of case *** include buildings with openings,balconies,irregular floor-plans,and surrounding urban *** C_(P) results are in close agreement with experimental data,reducing 60%-77% the prediction error on the openings regarding the EnergyPlus *** platform introduced shows being a reliable and practical C_(P) data source for NV modeling in real building design scenarios.
