The Puesto Piris Formation: Evidence of basin-development in the North Patagonian Massif during crustal extension associated with Gondwana breakup

The Marifil Volcanic complex, exposed in the eastern North Patagonian Massif, Argentina, includes up to 550 m of red conglomerates, sandstones, black siltstones, limestones, and reworked tuff of the Puesto Piris Formation. The basal part of this unit, which was deposited in high-gradient topographic relief, is composed of conglomerates and sandstones with thin layers of reworked tuffs. The lithofacies associations of the basal part indicate that the depositional mechanisms were mantled and gravitational *** middle part of the unit consists of fine sandstones, limestones, and black siltstones that were deposited in low-energy fluvial and lacustrine environments. The outcrops are located along the NEe SW direction and the major thickest units represented by limestones and siltstones, occur near the southeastern border of this NEeS W depocenter. Since the rhyolitic and trachytic lava flows and tuffs of the Marifil Volcanic complex are interbedded with the sedimentary sequences of the Puesto Piris Formation,both units are coeval. Zircon Ue Pb age was obtained for a trachytic lava flow(193.4 ±3.1 Ma) suggesting that sedimentation and volcanism are Sinemurian. This extensional episode was recorded in the eastern,western, and southwestern sectors of the North Patagonian Massif, and is possibly associated with the Gondwana supercontinent breakup.

Oxygen(O_(2))-sensing matrices are promising tools for the live monitoring of extracellular O_(2) consumption levels in long-term cell *** this study,ratiometric O_(2)-sensing membranes were prepared by electrospinning,an easy,low-cost,scalable,and robust method for fabricating ***(ε-caprolactone)and poly(dimethyl)siloxane polymers were blended with tris(4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline)ruthenium(II)dichloride,which was used as the O_(2)-sensing probe,and rhodamine B isothiocyanate,which was used as the reference *** functionalized scaffolds were morphologically characterized by scanning electron microscopy,and their physicochemical profiles were obtained by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,thermogravimetric analysis,and water contact angle *** sensing capabilities were investigated by confocal laser scanning microscopy,performing photobleaching,reversibility,and calibration curve studies toward different dissolved O_(2)(DO)*** sensing nanofibers showed a high response to changes in DO concentrations in the physiological-pathological range from 0.5%to 20%and good stability under ratiometric *** addition,the sensing systems were highly biocompatible for cell growth promoting adhesiveness and growth of three cancer cell lines,namely metastatic melanoma cell line SK-MEl2,breast cancer cell line McF-7,and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma cell line Panc-1,thus recreating a suitable biological environment in *** O_(2)-sensing biomaterials can potentially measure alterations in cell metabolism caused by changes in ambient O_(2)content during drug testing/validation and tissue regeneration processes.

Joint simulation of cross-correlated ore grades and geological domains:an application to mineral resource modeling

Spatial modeling of ore grades is frequently impacted by the local variation in geological domains such as lithological characteristics,rock types,and geological *** this information may lead to biased results in the final ore grade block model,subsequently impacting the downstream processes in a mining chain *** the current practice of ore body evaluation,which is known as stochastic cascade/hierarchical geostatistical modeling,the geological domain is first characterized,and then,within the geological model,the ore grades of interest are *** practice may be unrealistic in the case when the variability in ore grade across the boundary is gradual,following a smooth *** reproduce such characteristics,the cross dependence that exists between the ore grade and geological formations is considered in the conventional joint simulation between continuous and categorical ***,when using this approach,only one ore variable is considered,and its relationship with other ore grades that may be available at the sample location is *** this study,an alternative approach to jointly model two cross-correlated ore grades and one categorical variable(i.e.,geological domains)with soft contact relationships that exist among the geological domains is *** statistical and geostatistical tools are provided for variogram inference,Gibbs sampling,and conditional *** algorithm is also tested by applying it to a cu deposit,where the geological formations are managed by the local and spatial distribution of two cross-correlated ore grades,cu and Au,throughout the *** results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms other geostatistical techniques in terms of global and local reproduction of statistical parameters.

BAcKGROUND Radicular cyst is a lesion of odontogenic origin that arises from epithelial remains due to periapical periodontitis caused by inflammatory reactions generated at the apex of affected teeth with infected or necrotic *** therapeutic mana gement of radicular cysts is *** is only one case report of enucleation of a radicular cyst managed with microsurgery and apicoectomy,but without the use of the guided tissue regeneration(GTR)technique in the same surgical *** present clinical case describes the management of a radicular cyst with microsurgical approach,performance of an apicoectomy of the tooth associated with the entity,application of GTR technique,use of a resorbable membrane of type I bovine collagen,and bovine *** SUMMARY A 68-year-old patient presented with a radicular cyst from an upper lateral *** microsurgical management used was aimed at enucleating the chemical membrane,performing apicoectomy of the tooth along with careful and precise retrograde filling,and implementing GTR technique using a resorbable collagen membrane and bovine *** diagnosis of radicular cyst was confirmed using histopathological *** patient underwent follow-up evaluations at 10 and 30 d *** 4 months postoperative evaluation,she remained asymptomatic,and radiographs showed significant periapical healing with adequate bone *** These results suggest that microsurgical management using the GTR technique with collagen membrane and xenograft,contributes to bone regeneration.

Auxin Is Required for Valve Margin Patterning in Arabidopsis After All

Fruits are important as a nutritional source, but biologically more important are their seed protection and dispersal funcions. Dry fruits can be dehiscent and the process of opening of ripe fruits, or pod shattering, causes the seeds to be dispersed （Ferrandiz, 2002）. This process occurs in many crop species, for instance of members of the Brassicaceae family. Arabidopsis thaliana, the model plant species in the laboratory, belongs to this family and also presents pod shattering （Figure 1）. The Arabidopsis fruit is a silique, and before fertilization it is called a gynoecium or pistil. The gynoecium is formed by two carpels that are fused, and the replum is present at their margins and is connected to the septum that divides the silique inside. In between each valve-replum border, the valve margin or dehiscence zone is formed. When the fruit matures, a separation layer and a lignified cell layer are formed in the dehiscence zone. In addition, a lignified layer is formed in the valves, and when the mature fruit starts to desiccate, tension is created, which in association with the effect of middle lamella degrading enzymes in the separation layer, results in shattering of the fruit （Ferrandiz, 2002）. Research has led to the proposal of a model for the gene regulatory network that explains valve margin formation in Arabidopsis （e.g., ch＆vez Montes et al., 2015）. Mutations in various members of this gene regulatory network result in indehiscent fruits, i.e., the fruit does not open or shatter. One of these genes is the bHlH transcription factor INDEHIScENT （IND）, which is necessary for the formation of the separation layer and the lignified cell layers （liljegren et al., 2004）. IND has also been related to auxin, more precisely, to auxin distribution, important for gynoecium and fruit patterning （Sorefan et al., 2009; Girin et al., 2011）.

circular RNAs in colorectal cancer:Possible roles in regulation of cancer cells

colorectal cancer(cRc) is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer in the world and the fourth principal cause of cancer deaths worldwide. currently, there is a lack of low cost and noninvasive screening tests for cRc, becoming a serious health problem. In this context, a potential biomarker for the early detection of cRc has recently gained attention. circular RNAs(circ RNA), a re-discovered, abundant RNA specie, is a type of noncoding covalent closed RNAs formed from both exonic and intronic sequences. These circular molecules are widely expressed in cells, exceeding the abundance of the traditional linear m RNA transcript. They can regulate gene expression, acting as real sponges for mi RNAs and also regulate alternative splicing or act as transcriptional factors and inclusive encoding for proteins. However, little is known about circ RNA and its relationship with cRc. In this review, we focus on the biogenesis, function and role of these circ RNAs in relation to cRc, including their potential as a new biomarker.
