Background:Reconciling agriculture and biodiversity conservation is a challenge given the growing demand for agricultural *** recent decades,Argentina has witnessed agricultural expansion and intensification affecting biodiversity and associated ecosystem *** agroecosystems,the level of habitat quality is critical for birds,and may depend on vegetation structure,availability of invertebrate prey,and the use of *** the relationship between vegetation structure and avian occurrence has been widely studied,to our knowledge,there are no studies that also incorporate prey availability throughout the cycle of soybean crops in *** estimated and predicted the effects of land cover and temporal variation on the occurrence of avian foraging guilds in Entre Ríos,Argentina,in order to guide management related to potential ecosystem services provided by *** also estimated temporal effects of vegetation structure and insecticides on the main arthropod orders consumed by birds to evaluate prey ***:We conducted bird and arthropod surveys for 2 years along transects located in 20 randomly selected soybean fields(N=60)and their adjacent borders(N=78)throughout the crop growing season,in four *** estimated avian occupancy,accounting for imperfect detection,and arthropod counts fitting generalized linear mixed ***:The number of native trees in field borders positively influenced the occurrence of most bird species,mainly *** foliage gleaners,also were positively affected by grass *** and aerial foragers were weakly affected by distance to forest and native *** general,the availability of invertebrates to birds was highest during the third *** counts in borders were greater during the last three crop stages than during the pre-sowing ***:We found that with 10 to 15 native tree species in borders,coupled with a complex vegetation structure w

Effect of Using Two Different Types of Carbon Nanotubes for Blackberry (Rubus adenotrichos) in Vitro Plant Rooting, Growth and Histology

Nanoparticles are able to interact with biomolecules, creating functional nanosystems for transportation within in vivo cells, and leading to the study of their potential applications in the field of plant biotechnology. Therefore, the aim of this research was to determine the growth and rooting effect of functionalized (SWCNTs-COOH) and non-functionalized nanoparticles with iron residue inner particles (SWCNTs-Fe) in blackberry (Rubus adenotrichos) in vitro plants. Two types of SWCNTs were used, both of them characterized in a solid sample through Raman spectroscopy (λ = 532 nm) showing differences in the G band between SWCNT + Fe and SWCNT + COOH. The in vitro plants (approximately 15 mm length) were inoculated in a rooting medium. Six treatments were established: 4, 8, 12 μg/ml for each type of SWCNTs and a control without nanotubes. The assessed variables consisted of the average number of days for root emergence, average number of roots per plant, average root length per plant and the average stem length. This study determined that, in general, the SWCNTs-COOH promoted the growth of the in vitro plants under this assay, when compared to the SWCNTs-Fe trials. The lowest SWCNTs-COOH dose evidenced the best results for the assessed variables. Additionally, the histological analysis also evidenced that the plants treated with SWCNTs-COOH nanotubes (4 μg/ml) increased their cellular metabolism when compared to the control group.

In this study,the sperm ultrastructure of three species of Idarnes genus was investigated using light and transmission electron *** morphology of the three species was similar to that of most Chalcidoidea,with helicoidally twisted nucleus and *** head region consists of an acrosome and a nucleus;the nucleus-flagellum transition region characterized by the presence of mitochondrial derivatives and the centriolar adjunct;a flagellum region,which includes the axoneme with microtubular arrangement 9+9+2 and two mitochondrial ***,the sperm of these three species exhibit features that discriminate one species from each other:(1)only one species,Idarnes sp.2(carme group)exhibited an extracellular sheath surrounding the anterior portion of the nucleus,which extends to the anterior region of the flagellum,but it did not present filaments;(2)the acrosome in the three species was quite different,Idarnes sp.1 and Idarnes sp.2(carme group)has two compartments(acrosomal and subacrosomal vesicles)while Idarnes sp.3(flavicollis group)has a third compartment(perforatorium);(3)the centriolar adjunct elongated and its location among the mitochondrial derivatives is similar for the three species analyzed;(4)mitochondrial derivatives differ between the species,with triangular(Idarnes sp.1 and sp.3)and elongated or flat shaped(Idarnes sp.2)*** data shows that sperm structure may differ within the same genus and confirms the potential of these cells in phylogenetic and taxonomic analyses in the Chalcidoidea superfamily,as well as in Hymenoptera in general.

Optical to Mid-Infrared Analysis for the Galaxy Group RSCG 44

We present the detailed Optical to Mid Infrared (MIR) analysis on the compact group of galaxies RSCG44. The optical analysis comprehends both photometric andspectroscopic studies for six galaxies in this group. The overall Optical to MIR data provide maps, spectra, profiles and images to analyse galaxy properties (structure, line-strength features, etc.) of each member searching for signatures of star formation and nucleus activity. In the photometric analysis, we study $BVR$ surface brightness and colors calculated for regions such as galaxy centers, possible bridges, tails and optical knots. Optical direct image also presents residual images (after subtracting isophotal models) and unsharp masked images in order to uncover any hidden structure in the system. The inclusion of maps, profiles and images from the Spitzer Space Telescope (SST) was made in order to provide a complementary outlook for the optical colors and the environment in which the group evolves, hence, a better explanation of the photospheric component and possible photdissociation regimes in polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) emission at 5.8 and 8 μm have provide a disentangled view of dust properties in the interstellar medium (ISM) at MIR. Optical spectra for the group are also provided to establish a more fond comparison between optical to mid infrared properties. The color gradients were compared with the optical spectra of both galaxies, showing in general similar trends for star formation. Globally, color maps, color tables and optical spectra indicate predominant stellar populations from classes I, III and V corresponding to spectral types of K-M stars with ages of at least in theorder of 10 Gyr for models using metallicity ranges with solar and non solar abundances. These results lead us to the conclusion of a moderate star formation rate and a tranquil evolving state of the system.

Chitosan Nanoparticles as Biostimulant in Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) Plants

Biodegradable nanoparticles such as chitosan nanoparticles (CSNPs) are used in sustainable agriculture since theyavoid damage to the environment;CSNPs have positive effects such as the accumulation of bioactive compoundsand increased productivity in plants. This study aimed to investigate the impact of applying CSNPs on lettuce,specifically focusing on enzymatic activity, bioactive compounds, and yield. The trial was conducted using a completelyrandomized design, incorporating CSNPs: 0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, and 0.8 mg mL−1. The doses of 0.4 mg mL−1improve yields up to 24.6% increases and 0.1 mg mL−1 of CSNPs increases total phenols by 31.2% and antioxidantcapacity by 34.6%. In addition, when low concentrations of CSNPs (0.05 and 0.1 mg L−1) were applied, anincrease in catalase was determined. The CSNPs represent a good alternative to be used as a biostimulant in sustainableagriculture because they improve the yield and quality of lettuce by increasing the bioactive compounds.

Enhanced capacity to CO2 sorption in humid conditions with a K-doped biocarbon

Solid sorbents with enhanced capacity and selectivity towards CO2 are crucial in the design of an efficient capture *** the possible alternatives,K2CO3-doped activated carbons have shown high CO2 capture capacity and rapid carbonation reaction *** this work,a sustainable and low-cost approach is developed with a biomass-based activated carbon or biocarbon as *** CO2 capture performance in cyclic sorption–desorption operation and the sorption kinetics have been investigated under different scenarios in a purpose-built fixed-bed *** of the H2O concentration in the flue gas,a constant relative humidity(~20%)in the K2CO3-doped biocarbon bed promoted the carbonation reaction and boosted the CO2 sorption capacity(1.92 mmol/g at 50℃ and 14 kPa partial pressure of CO2).Carbonation is slower than physical adsorption of CO2 but wise process design could tune the operation conditions and balance capture capacity and sorption kinetics.

Nature and evolution of the lower crust under central Spain:Inferences from granulite xenoliths(Calatrava Volcanic Field-Spanish central system)

So far,the nature and evolution of the lower crust under central Spain have been constrained mainly on the basis of a heterogeneous suite of granulite xenoliths from the Spanish Central System(SCS).In recent years,ultramafic volcanics from the Calatrava Volcanic Field(CVF)have also provided deep-seated crustal xenoliths which have not been studied in *** data,combining mineral,whole-rock and isotopic geochemistry with U–Pb–Hf isotope ratios in zircons from the CVF and SCS xenoliths,highlight the felsic composition of the lower crust under central Iberia.A number of the Calatrava xenoliths represents Variscan igneous protoliths,which are a minor population in the SCS,and were likely formed by crystallisation of intermediate and felsic melts in the lower crust during the Variscan orogeny(leucodiorite protolith age of 314±3 Ma and leucogranite protolith age of 308±2.5 Ma).U–Pb data of metamorphic zircons show that granulite-facies metamorphism mainly occurred from 299 to 285 Ma in both *** ages are slightly younger than those of granitic intrusions that could be genetically related to the granulitic residue,which points to a main role of U–Pb isotope resetting in lower crustal zircons during HT or UHT *** zircon U–Pb–Hf isotopic ratios support the idea that the lower crust in central Iberia consists mainly of Ordovician–Neoproterozoic metaigneous and metasedimentary rocks associated with the Cadomian continental arc of northern *** rocks provide evidence of mixing between juvenile magmas and an enriched crustal component,ultimately extracted from an Eburnean *** more evolved components present in detrital zircons are likely related to recycling of Archean crust derived from North Africa cratonic terranes.

The potential of starch-chitosan blends with poloxamer for the preparation of microparticles by spray-drying

Using biopolymers as wall materials in spray drying poses challenges,particularly in attaining flowability and thermal stability among their physicochemical *** paper addresses these challenges by preparing microparticles using a blend of starch–chitosan and a poloxamer,commercially named Pluronic®*** aimed to elucidate the effects of varying poloxamer concentrations on the resulting particles through the spray drying *** with a poloxamer concentration of 3%(w/v)demonstrated a notably higher yield,especially when compared to those with 0%and 1%*** with 3%and 5%(w/v)poloxamer displayed a narrower particle size distribution,with the 3%blend showing a superior yield attributed to arrangements of blend components that improve flowability.X-ray diffraction analysis showcased the characteristic peaks of A-type starch form,with shifts suggesting enhanced interactions between *** with increased poloxamer content showed elevated thermal degradation temperatures,with the 3%blend registering a significant rise,opening avenues for encapsulating heat-sensitive *** study primarily focuses on the preparation and basic characterization of *** underscores the potential of blends with optimal poloxamer concentrations in microencapsulation,emphasizing further research to harness their capabilities thoroughly.
