Two novel polyoxometalates containing pharmaceutical component amantadine, formulated with (C10H18N) 5PMo12O40Cl2 5H2O (I) and (C10H18N) 6As2Mo18O62 6CH3CN 6H2O (II) were first synthesized and characterized by IR, UV-Vis spectra and X-ray diffraction. Structural analyses of I and II suggested that polyanions in these compounds were reserved their Keggin or Dawson structures and were linked to amantadine through electrostatic interaction and hydrogen bonding.

A novel complex, (H 3O) 2[Ni(2,6-pydc) 2]·2H 2O was synthesized in an aqueous solution and characterized by means of single-crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analyses and IR spectra. The X-ray structural analysis revealed that the novel compound forms three-dimensional(3D) networks by both π-π stacking and hydrogen-bonding interactions. The crystal data for the complex are a=13.853(3) nm, b=9.6892(19) nm, c=13.732(3) nm, α=90.00°, β=115.52(3)°, γ=90.00°, Z=3, R 1=0.0786, wR 2=0.1522.

Intramolecular electron transfer triggered by proton and the mechanism of structural conversion in a ethynylene-bridged ferrocene-anthraquinone organic elec-tron donor(D)-acceptor(A) p-conjugated system (1-FcAq) in the presence of a Keggin type heteropoly acid as proton source are discussed. Heteropoly acids can stabilize the pro-tonated ethynylene-bridged ferrocene-anthraquinone conju-gated complex, and the stable protonated complex has been isolated in air and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, 1H NMR, and CV. Upon the inducement of proton, electron transfer from ferrocene moiety (Fc) to anthraquinone moiety (Aq) causes the rearrangement of the conjugated system to create a fulvenecumulene structuere.

A new polyoxovanadate cluster, [NH_3(CH_2)_2NH_2(CH_2)_2NH_3]_4[VⅤ_6VⅣ_ 12O_ 42(PO_4)](PO_4)·2H_2O, has been synthesized and characterized by means of elemental analysis, IR spectrometry, EPR spectrometry, TG analysis and single crystal X-ray diffraction. This compound crystallizes in a monoclinic space group C2/c with a= 2.3912(5) nm, b=1.3002(3) nm, c=2.0172(4) nm, β=105.75(3)°, V=6.036(2) nm3, Z=2, R_1=0.0572, wR_2=0.1476. It has a superKeggin structure with a Keggin unit capped by six [VO_5] moieties on the pits on every side of the Keggin unit. The anti-tumor activity of the compound was estimated in three human tumor cell lines in vitro.

A novel compound [(CH 3CH 2) 4N] 4[(La 12 (OH) 12 MoO 29 )] was synthesized by hydrothermal reaction. The single crystal X ray diffraction shows that the compound crystallized in the monoclinic space group C2/c ; a =2 5729(4) nm, b =1 4318(1) nm, c =2 1217(4) nm, β =111 56(1)°, V =6 8235(7) nm 3, Z =4, R =0 0751. The basic building blocks of the crystal structure included one MoO 5 hexahedron and twelve LaO 6 octahedra which shared a common edge to form a [(La 12 (OH) 12 MoO 29 )] 4- unit. These units were held together by the [(CH 3CH 2) 4N] + ions.

A new vanadylpolymolybdophosphate, [H 2N(C 2H 4) 2NH 2] 4-(H 3O)[PMo V 2Mo VI 6V IV 4O 40(V IVO) 2]·H 2O, was hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV-vis, XPS, ESR spectra, and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The compound contains an unusual highly reduced pseudo-Keggin type polyoxoanion with nine negative charges and exhibits an interesting phosphorus-centered alternate layer arrangement of molybdenum and vanadium oxides.

The ultrathin multilayer films of rare-earth-containing polyoxometalate cluster K_ 17[Eu(P_2Mo_ 17O_ 61)_2] (EuPMo) and poly(allylamine hydrochloride)(PAH) have been prepared by the Layer-by-Layer(LbL) self-assembly method. The photoluminescent behavior of the films investigated at room temperature shows the Eu 3+ characteristic emission pattern of 5D_0→ 7F_J(J=1—4). The occurrence of the photoluminescent activity confirms the potential of creating luminescent multilayer films with polyoxometalates(POMs).

A novel adenine(Ade) salt of 12-phosphotungstic acid was synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses,IR, 1H NMR,CV and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The compound crystallized in a triclinic system with a space group P 1 and a =1.3108(3) nm, b =1.3515(3) nm,c =1.3870(3) nm, V =2.0217(7) nm 3,Z =1,R _1=0.0391,wR _2=0.0959. The structure unit of the complex was constructed from [HPW_ 12 ·O_ 40 ] -,(C_5H_6N_5) + and C_3H_7NO,which further extends to form a novel three-dimensional host-guest network via hydrogen-bonding interactions. The anti-tumor activity of the compound was examined in two human tumor cell lines in vitro .
