The change in mutagenicity：study on surface water of Qiantang River due to tide

The Qiangtang River lies in Zhejiang Province of *** this study,the genotoxicity of surface water samples from five sites along the river were detected using Ames test(TA98,TA100±S9),comet(SCGE) test and cytokinesis-block micronucleus(CBMN) tesdt(-S9) in the human peripheral lymphocytes in *** results indicated that in upstream samples (first site) during falling-tide was found slight mutagenicity in TA98 strain with S9 and without *** mutagenicity of samples from the second to the fifth site was gradually *** the first site sample,the micronucleated cell rates of the other four samples during falling-tide significantly increased in CBMN test,and the extent of migration of DNA fragments of the four samples was found to be significantly different from control *** the upstream(first site) samples during flow-tide were found no mutagen by three short-term *** the other four samples were found more stronger mutagenicity in TA98 strain with S9 than that during *** micronucleated cell rates and the extent of migration of DNA fragments of the samples were sdignificantly high than that during falling-tide too.

Cohort Studies on Cancer Mortality Among Workers Exposed Only to Chrysotile Asbestos: a Meta-analysis

Objective To determine whether there was excessive risk of cancer among workers exposed to chrysotile fiber alone by applying a meta-analysis technique. Methods All data meeting the criteria of cohort studies on cancer mortality among workers exposed only to chrysotile were incorporated into meta-analysis. Pooled standardized mortality ratios (SMRs) and their corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for main cancer sites were calculated using two approaches of unweighted ratio and random effect model. The heterogeneity and its sources of the results were examined with a Q-statistic and Z-score test. The dose-response effect as reflected in the percentage of all deaths due to mesothelioma served as a proxy measure of chrysotile exposure. Results A cohort of twenty six workers exposed to chrysotile alone was summarized. The significantly elevated meta-SMRs for all deaths (1.27), all cancers (1.28), cancers of respiratory organs (2.51), cancers of lung (2.35) and cancers of stomach (1.24) were observed. The significantly elevated meta-SMRs for lung cancer within occupational strata were observed among textile workers (3.55), asbestos product manufacturers (3.30), miners and millers (2.24), cement product workers (1.22), and for stomach cancer among asbestos product manufacturers (1.49). Meta-SMRs for cancers at other sites were not significant. Meta-SMR for lung cancer showed an increasing trend with an elevated percentage of all deaths from mesothelioma, but no such trend for stomach cancer. Conclusion There are excessive risks of lung cancer and mesothelioma among workers exposed to chrysotile fiber alone, and likely no convincing indication of an etiological association between chrysotile exposure and cancers at other sites.

To investigate the mortality of malignant tumor in female workers exposed to chrysotile *** A retrospective cohort study of female workers was conducted,who had been engaged in the manual spinning of chrysotile in family with more than one year between January 1,1960 and December 31,*** A total of 144 persons were found to be dead from *** them the most frequent was lung cancer(74), and the second liver cancer(27),and the third stomach cancer(18).Standardized mortality ratio(SMR)from total malingnant tumor and lung cancer were 1.16(P<0.05)and 4.17(P<0.01),respectively based on the control population of the same *** A significant excess death from lung cancer was found among female workers who had been exposed to chrysotile.

几年来 ,HIV 1跨膜蛋白 gp41的生物学功能研究又取得了重大进展 .几个研究小组提供的实验证据证实gp41有一个潜在的细胞受体 .一个重组的gp41胞外区多肽 (aa5 39～ 6 84)以及gp41的免疫抑制多肽 (aa5 83～ 5 99)能够连接人B淋巴细胞和单核细胞 ,仅能较弱的连接T淋巴细胞 .我们发现gp41有 2个细胞结合位点 (aa5 83～ 5 99和aa6 4 1～ 6 75 ) .gp41能够选择性地抑制人T ,B淋巴细胞和单核细胞的增殖 ,选择性地增强人MHCⅠ和Ⅱ类分子以及ICAM Ⅰ分子在细胞表面的表达 .针对第一结合位点的单克隆抗体和 gp41结合蛋白能抑制这种调节作用 .gp41和Ⅰ型干扰素之间存在氨基酸序列的同源性 ,同源区正位于gp41的第一结合位点和Ⅰ型干扰素的受体结合位点 .一些研究结果表明 ,gp41的 2个结合位点与HIV病毒感染细胞相关联 .含有 2个结合位点的多肽分别能够抑制HIV病毒感染细胞 .一个识别第二位点的单抗能广泛中和HIV_1的实验室病毒株和最新分离的病毒株 .此外 ,针对猴免疫缺陷病毒 (SIV)跨膜蛋白 gp32分子上 2个同源区的抗体能保护猴免受SIV的感染 .这些研究结果提示 :gp41细胞结合位点和细胞受体的研究定会对HIV病毒感染机理的研究和疫苗以及抗感染药物的研制产生重大影响 .
