PM2.5 separator directly affects the accuracy of PM2.5 *** specification testing and evaluation for PM2.5 separator is particularly important,especially under China’s wide variation of terrain and *** this study,first a static test apparatus based on polydisperse aerosol was established and calibrated to evaluate the performance of the PM2.5 separators.A uniform mixing chamber was developed to make particles mix *** aerosol concentration relative standard deviations of three test points at the same horizontal chamber position were less than 0.57%,and the particle size distribution obeyed logarithmic normal distribution with an R2 of *** flow rate deviation between the measurement and the set point flow rate agreed to within±1.0%in the range of-40 to 50℃.Secondly,the separation,flow and loading characteristics of three cyclone separators(VSCC-A,SCC-A and SCC112)were evaluated using this *** results showed that the 50%cutoff sizes(D50)of the three cyclones were 2.48,2.47 and 2.44μm when worked at the manufacturer’s recommended flow rates,*** geometric standard deviation(GSD)of the capture efficiency of VSCCA was 1.23,showed a slightly sharper than SCC-A(GSD=1.27),while the SCC112 did not meet the relevant indicator(GSD=1.2±0.1)with a GSD=*** flow rate and loading test had a great effect on D50,while the GSD remained almost the same as *** addition,the maintenance frequency under different air pollution conditions of the cyclones was summarized according to the loading test.

China now faces double challenges of water resources shortage and severe water pollution. To resolve Chinese water pollution problems and reduce its impacts on human health, economic growth and social develop- ment, the situation of wastewater treatment was investi- gated. Excess sludge and greenhouse gases （GHGs） emitted during wastewater treatment were also surveyed. It is concluded that Chinese water pollution problems should be systematically resolved with inclusion of wastewater and the solid waste and GHGs generated during wastewater treatment. Strategies proposed for the wastewater treatment in China herein were also adequate for other countries, especially for the developing countries with similar economic conditions to China.

Multi-layer perceptron-based data-driven multiscale modelling of granular materials with a novel Frobenius norm-based internal variable

One objective of developing machine learning(ML)-based material models is to integrate them with well-established numerical methods to solve boundary value problems(BVPs).In the family of ML models,recurrent neural networks(RNNs)have been extensively applied to capture history-dependent constitutive responses of granular materials,but these multiple-step-based neural networks are neither sufficiently efficient nor aligned with the standard finite element method(FEM).Single-step-based neural networks like the multi-layer perceptron(MLP)are an alternative to bypass the above issues but have to introduce some internal variables to encode complex loading *** this work,one novel Frobenius norm-based internal variable,together with the Fourier layer and residual architectureenhanced MLP model,is crafted to replicate the history-dependent constitutive features of representative volume element(RVE)for granular *** obtained ML models are then seamlessly embedded into the FEM to solve the BVP of a biaxial compression case and a rigid strip footing *** obtained solutions are comparable to results from the FEM-DEM multiscale modelling but achieve significantly improved *** results demonstrate the applicability of the proposed internal variable in enabling MLP to capture highly nonlinear constitutive responses of granular materials.

Evolving provenance in the Proterozoic Pranhita-Godavari Basin,India

The Pranhita-Godavari Basin in central eastern India is one of the Proterozoic ＂Purana＂ basins of cratonic India. New geochronology demonstrates that it has a vast depositional history of repeated basin reactivation from the Palaeoproterozoic to the Mesozoic. U-Pb laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry dating of detrital zircons from two samples of the Somanpalli Group--a member of the oldest sedimentary cycle in the valley--constrains its depositional age to - 1620 Ma and demonstrates a tripartite age provenance with peaks at - 3500 Ma, - 2480 Ma and - 1620 Ma, with minor age peaks in the Eoarchaean （ - 3.8 Ga） and at - 2750 Ma. These ages are consistent with palaeocurrent data suggesting a southerly source from the Krishna Province and Enderby Land in East Antarctica. The similarity in the maximum depositional age with previously published autbigenic glauconite ages suggest that the origin of the Pranhita-Godvari Graben originated as a rift that formed at a high angle to the coeval evolving late Meosproterozoic Krishna Province as Enderby Land collided with the Dharwar craton of India. In contrast, detrital zircons from the Cycle III Sullavai Group red sandstones yielded a maximum depositional age of 970 - 20 Ma and had age peaks of -2550 Ma, -1600 Ma and then a number of Mesoproterozoic detrital zircons terminating in three analyses at - 970 Ma. The provenance of these is again consistent with a southerly source from the Eastern Ghats Orogen and Antarctica. Later cycles of deposition include the overlying Albaka/Usur Formations and finally the late Palaeozoic to Mesozoic Gondwana Supergroup.

Three decades of changes in water environment of a large freshwater Lake and its relationship with socio-economic indicators

Tai Lake(Ch: Taihu) has attracted international attention forcyanobacteria ***, the drivers of cultural eutrophication, especially long-term socio-economic indicators have been little researched. The results of research demonstrate how socioeconomic development affected quality of water and how it has been improved by anthropogenic activities. This study described variability in indicators of water quality in Tai Lakeand investigated thedrivers. Significant relationships existed between concentrations of annual mean total nitrogen(TN), total phosphorous(TP), chemical oxygen demand(COD) and biological oxygen demand(BOD), and population, per capital gross domestic production(GDP) and sewage discharge(p industrial sewage become the primary contributor. After 1998, the regressions of annual mean TN, TP and COD on per capital GDP, population and domestic sewage discharge were reversed compared to the former period. Since 1999, an apparent inverted U-shaped relationship between environmental pollution and economic development has developed, which indicated that actions taken by governments have markedly improved quality of water in Tai Lake. The statistical relationship between BOD and per capital GDP didn't conform to the Kuznet curve. The Ushaped Kuznet curve may offer hope for the future that with significant environmental investments a high GDP can be reached and maintained without degradation of the environment, especially through appropriate management of industrial sewage discharge.

An image can be degraded due to many environmental factors like foggy or hazy weather,low light conditions,extra light conditions *** captured under the poor light conditions is generally known as non-uniform illumination ***-uniform illumination hides some important information present in an image during the image capture Also,it degrades the visual quality of image which generates the need for enhancement of such *** techniques have been present in literature for the enhancement of such type of *** this paper,a novel architecture has been proposed for enhancement of poor illumination images which uses radial basis approximations based BEMD(Bi-dimensional Empirical Mode Decomposition).The enhancement algorithm is applied on intensity and saturation components of ***,intensity component has been decomposed into various bi-dimensional intrinsic mode function and residue by using sifting ***,some linear transformations techniques have been applied on various bidimensional intrinsic modes obtained and residue and further on joining the transformed modes with residue,enhanced intensity component is *** part of an image is then enhanced in accordance to the enhanced intensity *** enhanced image can be obtained by joining the hue,enhanced intensity and enhanced saturation parts of the given *** proposed algorithm will not only give the visual pleasant image but maintains the naturalness of image also.

Diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN)is a long-term complication associated with nerve dysfunction and uncontrolled *** spite of new drug discoveries,development of effective therapy is much needed to cure ***,we have developed a combinatorial approach to provide biochemical and electrical cues,considered to be important for nerve *** derived from bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cells(BMSCs)were fused with polypyrrole nanoparticles(PpyNps)containing liposomes to deliver both the cues in a single delivery *** developed DPN rat model and injected intramuscularly the fused exosomal system to understand its long-term therapeutic *** found that the fused system along with electrical stimulation normalized the nerve conduction velocity(57.60±0.45 m/s)and compound muscle action potential(16.96±0.73 mV)similar to healthy control(58.53±1.10 m/s;18.19±1.45 mV).Gastrocnemius muscle morphology,muscle mass,and integrity were recovered after ***,we also observed paracrine effect of delivered exosomes in controlling hyperglycemia and loss in body weight and also showed attenuation of damage to the tissues such as the pancreas,kidney,and *** work provides a promising effective treatment and also contribute cutting edge therapeutic approach for the treatment of DPN.

Screening and degradation characteristics of a tylosin-degrading strain

Antibiotics residues have been accumulating in the environment day by day due to overuse of *** antibiotic residues,such as tylosin(TYL),can cause serious environmental problems,which makes it important to eliminate TYL from the *** is important to eliminate TYL from the *** this study,a strain was isolated and purified from fermentation by-product that came from a TYL production *** TYL degrading strain was identified by its morphology,physiological and biochemical reactions and sequencing the PCR-amplified fragments of its 16 S r DNAcoding *** temperature,shaking speed,initial TYL concentration,p H and inoculum sizes were investigated under simulated conditions by using single factor *** results showed that TYL2,a high efficient strain was isolated and was identified as Brevibacillus *** degradation rate of TYL by this strain could reach to 75%with an initial concentration of 25 mg L^-1 within 7 days under conditions of 7%***(v/v,2×108 CFU m L^-1)at p H 7.0 and at 35°*** is interesting that this strain has a very strong ability to degrade the TYL in natural sewage with the degradation rate of 65%within 7 *** result could be helpful for the degradation of TYL and provide guidance for the degradation of other antibiotics.

Signalization options to improve capacity and delay at roundabouts through microsimulation approach:A case study on arterial roadways in Ghana

Roundabouts are very useful when flows are balanced but can have operational challenges when flows *** roundabouts on arterial roadways in Ghana experience recurring congestion during peak *** four roundabouts between Ejisu Municipality and Asokwa Municipality on the N6 highway are typical of the situation found on arterials *** experience recurring long queues and delays during the peak hours and over-representation of truck rollover *** Ghana,historically,most roundabouts with capacity problems have been developed into interchanges at very high cost without consideration of other effective at-grade *** roundabouts are signalized,various configurations can be explored to enhance capacity while preserving the safety *** simulation techniques,various configurations and design options were tested for their effectiveness at two of the roundabouts,located at KNUST police station and Ejisu,with similar demand and high left turning *** objectives of this study were to a)evaluate the performance of the selected roundabouts on the corridor;b)explore alternative intersection configurations to improve capacity and *** video data collection techniques,2-h time stamped footages of AM and PM peak traffic flows were captured for two *** design parameters of the existing roundabouts,queue lengths,travel times,and approach flows were also *** models of the selected roundabouts were developed and calibrated for the baseline *** unconventional roundabout configuration,with a phase for major road through traffic were simulated and assessed for capacity,delay and queue *** results showed that signalized roundabout intersections effectively increased capacity by as much as 50%in some cases,reduced delay and queue length significantly,and maintained the benefits of roundabouts including *** performance could be further enhanced by introducing separate
