This article presents a list of insect types preserved in Kunming Natural History Museum of zoology （KNHMZ）. As of March, 2015, 3412 type specimens belonging to 266 species/subspecies of 37 families in 9 orders （Odonata, Isoptera, Mantodea, Orthoptera, Hemiptera, Coleoptera, Diptera, Hymenoptera and Lepidoptera） are included. Information corrections of some specimens are provided in this article.

Evolution is the key to understanding the theories of biology.Nothing in biology makes sense except in the light of evolution(Dobzhansky 1973).Beyond the traditional method of morphology,we are aware of the possibilities of new scientific discoveries to be cognizant of the development of anatomy,paleontology,computational biology,phylogenetic analysis,and molecular means.

With the long-term support of every friend and contributor,Zoological Research(ZR)has continued to move forward over the past year,with impressive achievements.Notably,ZR attained an impact factor of 4.56(JCR Q1)and CiteScore of 4.6 in mid-2021,thus ranking in the top five of the 175 SCI journals within the zoology category.In November 2021,our Citescore reached 5.6,and we expect a higher impact factor in 2022 than in 2021.Although we are not driven by chasing these scores,the increase in these metrics does reflect an elevation in the quality of submissions and publications,as well as the march towards our original aspiration when launching this journal(Yao et al.,2019).The current areas of focus of ZR(i.e.,primate and animal models;animal diversity and evolution;conservation&utilization of animal resources)are not only tightly connected to our host-the Kunming Institute of Zoology,which has grown and evolved into“a comprehensive research institution renowned for its remarkable achievements in evolutionary mechanisms of animal biodiversity,animal resources protection,and sustainable utilization”(Yao&Shen,2019)-but also represent the very frontiers of zoology.

As the largest continent in the world,bound by the Pacific,Indian,and Arctic Oceans and the Mediterranean Sea,Asia is well-endowed in its geological and biological diversity.Not surprisingly,spiders abound in the vast expanses of its tropic and temperate forests,lofty mountain ranges and plateaus,and flood plains of its many river systems.However,it is only over the past two decades that we have begun to make a concerted effort to undertake the study of spider taxonomy,and correspondingly,to discuss the issue of conservation of their habitats.

Integrative zoology(INZ)is the official journal of the International Society of Zoological Sciences(ISZS).The journal has made some remarkable gains in the past years.The Impact Factor increases steadily and ranks top 25%in Journal Citation Reports(JCR)’s zoological journals for 7 years.The journal has rallied zoologists from more than 80 countries.The number of submission and publication has almost doubled from 2020 to 2022.The total downloads via Wiley Online Library increased 52.9%from 2020 to 2021,with a global reach.In the past year,6687 institutions offered access to our journal via Wiley license.

Seven species of the spider family Hersiliidae Thorell,1869 are included in this study.Four new species from two genera are described:Hersilia aoqin sp.nov.(♂♀),H.long sp.nov.(♀),H.sagada sp.nov.(♂♀),and Murricia caishen sp.nov.(♀).The genus Murricia Simon,1882 and two species,H.lelabah Rheims&Brescovit,2004 and H.martensi Baehr&Baehr,1993,are reported from China for the first time.H.yunnanensis Wang,Song&Qiu,1993,syn.***.is regarded as a junior synonym of H.sumatrana(Thorell,1890).

In present work, we study six species of the genus Plator Simon, 1880 of the spider family Trochanteriidae Karsch, 1879, including five new species from China: Plator cyclicus sp. nov., P. dazhonghua sp. nov., P. hanyikani sp. nov., P. kamurai sp. nov. and P. qiului sp. nov. Plator sinicus Zhu & Wang, 1963 syn. nov. is regarded as a junior synonym of P. nipponicus(Kishida, 1914).

Research on animal intestinal microbiota is one of the most cutting-edge topics in current zoological study.In addition to getting involved in host animals’physiological functions or behaviors(Aagaard et al.2014;Woting&Blaut 2016;Schretter et al.2018;Dang&Marsland 2019),the gut microbiome has been shown to influence the relation between the hosts and their neighboring species,which would eventually affect the host’s fitness and evolution positively or negatively(Douglas 2015;Sherwin et al.2019;Xu et al.2019;Groussin et al.2020;Jang&Kikuchi 2020).
