Aging in oak barrels is widely used in enology which could bring flavor changes and aromatic complexity to *** the present study,the aroma compounds were analyzed from the‘Merlot’dry red wines,which were fermented in two types of fermenters(stainless steel tank and rotated oak barrel)and aged in six types of oak barrels(three geographic origins×two toasting degrees)for different time(0,3,6 and 9 months,respectively).Results showed that 30 volatiles were associated with barrels and increased during oak *** fermenters could influence the intensities of the toast,leathery,smoky,fruity,floral and caramel *** concentration of whisky lactone,eugenol,cis-isoeugenol,and the intensities of the toast and spicy aromas were highest in the wines aged in American oak and were lowest in the wines aged in French oak *** concentrations of guaiacol,syringol,trans-isoeugenol,furfural alcohol,vanilla,cis-whisky lactone enabled the medium toasting barrels to be distinguished from the light toasting *** compounds originating from the barrels could be used to distinguish the types of different barrels,but the other general grape-derived and fermentation-derived volatiles could *** fermenters,oak species and toasting degrees of the barrels all had significant effects on the aroma profiles of the aged‘Merlot’dry red wines,but the influence of the geographic origin was not obvious.

Climate change and extreme weather pose significant challenges to the traditional viticulture *** high-altitude grape-producing regions with diverse orientations have shown great potential in coping with this ***,high-quality wine grape production may be achieved by synchronizing the meso-and *** clarify the role of high altitude and row orientation in meso-and microclimate and the response of berries to it,we evaluated seven years(2012-2018)of climate data,two years of basic grape(Cabernet Sauvignon,Vitis vinifera L.)quality,and one-year microclimate from veraison to *** comparing two locations(Sidon 2047 m,Sinon 2208 m)in Yunnan Province,China,we found that the average temperature has been stable at approximately 15℃ for seven years,with no extreme weather or,noticeable global *** light intensity(LI)in the north-south(NS)was more balanced than the east-west(EW)direction,and the east-west to the south(EW-S)canopy side was almost higher than the other *** LI was associated with high photosynthetically active radiation(PAR),ultraviolet(UV),and infrared(IR)light and vice *** north-south to the east(NS-E)and east-west to the north(EWN)sides were characterized by lower LI and higher UV and IR light,and higher total anthocyanin *** anthocyanin synthesis-related genes,for example,VvF3'H and VvF3'5'H,were highly expressed in NS-E from veraison to *** UV and IR light induced their *** study provides new insights on the role of differently orientated rows in controlling grape quality due to varied light *** findings are globally significant,particularly in the context of climate change,and offer fresh insights into berry physiological responses and decision-making for the management of existing vineyards.

Selection forces often generate sex-specific differences in various traits closely related to *** in adult spiders(Araneae),sexes often differ in coloration,body size,antipredator,or foraging behavior,such sex-related differences are less pronounced among ***,sex-specific life-history strategies may also be adaptive for ***,we hypothesized that among spiders,immature individuals show different life-history strategies that are expressed as sex-specific differences in body parameters and behavioral features,and also in their *** used immature individuals of a protandrous jumping spider,Carrhotus xanthogramma,and examined sex-related *** results showed that males have higher mass and larger prosoma than *** were more active and more risk tolerant than *** activity increased with time,and larger males tended to capture the prey faster than small ones,while females showed no such ***,females reacted to the threatening abiotic stimuli more with the increasing number of test *** both males and females,individuals with better body conditions tended to be more risk *** showed no sex-specific differences in interindividual behavioral consistency and in intraindividual behavioral variation in the measured behavioral ***,we also found evidence for behavioral syndromes(i.e.,correlation between different behaviors),where in males,only the activity correlated with the risk-taking behavior,but in females,all the measured behavioral traits were *** present study demonstrates that *** sexes follow different life-history strategies even before attaining maturity.

Wampee(Clausena lansium) is an important evergreen fruit tree native to southern China that has a long history of use for medicinal purposes. Here, a chromosome-level genome of C. lansium was constructed with a genome size of 282.9 Mb and scaffold N50 of 30.75 Mb. The assembled genome contains 48.70% repetitive elements and 24,381 protein-coding genes. Comparative genomic analysis showed that C. lansium diverged from Aurantioideae 15.91–24.95 million years ago. Additionally, some expansive and specific gene families related to methyltransferase activity and S-adenosylmethionine-dependent methyltransferase activity were also *** analysis indicated that N-methyltransferase(NMT) is mainly involved in alkaloid biosynthesis and O-methyltransferase(OMT) participates in the regulation of coumarin accumulation in wampee. This suggested that wampee's richness in alkaloids and coumarins might be due to the gene expansions of NMT and OMT. The tandem repeat event was one of the major reasons for the NMT expansion. Hence, the reference genome of C. lansium will facilitate the identification of some useful medicinal compounds from wampee resources and reveal their biosynthetic pathways.

An appropriate optimal number of market segments(ONS)estimation is essential for an enterprise to achieve successful market segmentation,but at present,there is a serious lack of attention to this issue in market *** our study,an independent adaptive ONS estimation method BWCON-NSDK-means++is proposed by integrating a newinternal validity index(IVI)Between-Within-Connectivity(BWCON)and a newstable clustering algorithmNatural-SDK-means++(NSDK-means++)in a novel ***,to complete the evaluation dimensions of the existing IVIs,we designed a connectivity formula based on the neighbor relationship and proposed the BWCON by integrating the connectivity with other two commonly considered measures of compactness and ***,considering the stability,number of parameters and clustering performance,we proposed the NSDK-means++to participate in the integrationwhere the natural neighbor was used to optimize the initial cluster centers(ICCs)determination strategy in the SDK-means++.At last,to ensure the objectivity of the estimatedONS,we designed a BWCON-based ONS estimation framework that does not require the user to set any parameters in advance and integrated the NSDK-means++into this framework forming a practical ONS estimation tool BWCON-NSDK-means++.The final experimental results showthat the proposed BWCONand NSDK-means++are significantlymore suitable than their respective existing models to participate in the integration for determining theONS,and the proposed BWCON-NSDK-means++is demonstrably superior to the BWCON-KMA,BWCONMBK,BWCON-KM++,BWCON-RKM++,BWCON-SDKM++,BWCON-Single linkage,BWCON-Complete linkage,BWCON-Average linkage and BWCON-Ward linkage in terms of the ONS ***,as an independentmarket segmentation tool,the BWCON-NSDK-means++also outperforms the existing models with respect to the inter-market differentiation and sub-market size.

In recent years,deep learning models have become the standard for agricultural computer *** models are typically fine-tuned to agricultural tasks using model weights that were originally fit to more general,non-agricultural *** lack of agriculture-specific fine-tuning potentially increases training time and resource use,and decreases model performance,leading to an overall decrease in data *** overcome this limitation,we collect a wide range of existing public datasets for 3 distinct tasks,standardize them,and construct standard training and evaluation pipelines,providing us with a set of benchmarks and pretrained *** then conduct a number of experiments using methods that are commonly used in deep learning tasks but unexplored in their domain-specific applications for *** experiments guide us in developing a number of approaches to improve data efficiency when training agricultural deep learning models,without large-scale modifications to existing *** results demonstrate that even slight training modifications,such as using agricultural pretrained model weights,or adopting specific spatial augmentations into data processing pipelines,can considerably boost model performance and result in shorter convergence time,saving training ***,we find that even models trained on low-quality annotations can produce comparable levels of performance to their high-quality equivalents,suggesting that datasets with poor annotations can still be used for training,expanding the pool of currently available *** methods are broadly applicable throughout agricultural deep learning and present high potential for substantial data efficiency improvements.

Protein haze was one of the main causes of the instability of white wines. Proteins that caused haze or precipitation in white wines mainly came from grape fruits, and their compositions and contents were affected by many factors such as fruit diseases, harvesting methods and water stress. Unstable wine proteins were usually pathogenesis-related(PR)proteins of grapes, mainly chitinases and thaumatin-like proteins(TLPs), which had lower isoelectric point(pI)and smaller molecular weight, and were highly resistant to the low pH values of wines and the protease hydrolysis during fermentation. At present, the technology of protein stabilization and clarification in white wines mainly included bentonite fining, heat treatment, enzymatic hydrolysis, polysaccharide treatment and ultrafiltration methods. Among them, the most commonly used method was bentonite treatment. In this paper, the research progresses of the origin, mechanism and influencing factors of the unstable proteins in white wines were summarized, and the applications, advantages and disadvantages of various clarification techniques were also concluded, in order to provide some support for the theoretical and technological research of the protein stability in white wines in the future.

This study highlights introducing the rare earth metal cerium(Ce(Ⅳ))into the structure of magnetite(Fe_(3)O_(4))to achieve enhanced adsorptive properties for the removal of chromium(Cr(VI))from an aqueous *** ratios of Ce(Ⅳ)were introduced into the iron oxide matrix,termed FeCe-5,FeCe-10,and *** numerical values correspond to the nominal content of the dopant element added to the synthesis *** solid materials were characterized for morphology and chemical structure,and N_(2)physical adsorption/desorption measurements were *** solid materials doped with Ce(IV)have a high surface area compared to Fe_(3)O_(4),and the solid material with the highest content of the dopant ion(Ce(IV))has a 4-fold greater surface *** increase in the dopant content in the iron oxide structure leads to a total chromium removal of 93.3%.Isotherms studies on the solid materials show that chromium adsorption follows the Langmuir *** adsorption capacity to Fe_(3)O_(4)is 12.59 mg/g and FeCe-10 is 22.49 mg/g at 35℃.By fitting the kinetic and isothermal models,it is found that for the Fe_(3)O_(4)and FeCe-10 materials Cr(VI)removal occurs in very different ways,attributed to the different surface areas and compositions of the oxide,with the formation of the goethite(α-FeOOH)*** FeCe-10reuse process was performed and the removal capacity the Cr(VI)is reduced after the first *** result is attributed to a strong and irreversible adsorption of Cr(VI)on the FeCe-10.

Current approaches for sustainable mountain development have several persisting warning signals. Economic globalization, profitoriented market development, and infrastructure development have significantly altered traditional nature-society interactions, increased environmental pressures, and challenged agricultural sustainability in the mountains. Some of the effects of globalization could also be beneficial. Social differentiation and disintegration of mountain communities' have weakened their collective stakes on natural resources resulting in decline in initiatives such as community forestry, collective water management, domestication of rapidly disappearing herbal species, and balancing of economic and ecological concerns. Population growth, food insecurity, unemployment, and increasing economic gaps between rich and poor have led to out-migration of youth. Sustained action promoting ownership of new initiatives for rehabilitating degraded mountain landscapes through macro-level global/national initiatives, mountain specific planning and development efforts is severely lacking in many areas on the Hindu Kush Himalayan region. Therefore, there is an urgent need for widening the scope of efforts directed to help mountain areas and communities, and a future thinking approach to enhance the sustainability of mountain areas as they are a valuable natural resource for humankind. This paper discusses the issues, opportunities, and provides suggestions for the future of mountain development.

Proanthocyanidins(PAs)and anthocyanins are involved in the response of plants to various environmental ***,the mechanism behind defense-induced PA biosynthetic regulation is still not completely elucidated,also in *** study performed a transcriptome sequencing analysis of grape berries infected with Colletotrichum gloeosporioides to highlight the induction of the VabHLH137 factor from the basic helix-loop-helix(bHLH)XII subfamily by the fungus,which appeared to be significantly co-expressedwith PA-related *** functional analysis of VabHLH137 overexpression and knockdownin transgenic grape calli showed that it positively regulated PA and anthocyanin ***,VabHLH137 overexpression in the grape calli significantly increased resistance to ***.A yeast one-hybrid and electrophoretic mobility shift assay revealed that VabHLH137 directly bound to the VaLAR2 promoter,enhancing its activity and interacting with VaMYBPAR,a transcriptional activator of PA ***,transient experiments showed that although the VabHLH137+VaMYBPAR complex activated VaLAR2 expression,it failed to further enhance VaLAR2 expression compared to VaMYBPAR *** findings indicated that VabHLH137 enhanced PA biosynthesis by activating of VaLAR2 expression,providing new insight into the transcriptional regulation of defense-induced PA biosynthesis in grapevine.
