Fast target-aware learning for few-shot video object segmentation

Few-shot video object segmentation(FSVOS) aims to segment a specific object throughout a video sequence when only the first-frame annotation is given. In this study, we develop a fast target-aware learning approach for FSVOS, where the proposed approach adapts to new video sequences from its firstframe annotation through a lightweight procedure. The proposed network comprises two models. First, the meta knowledge model learns the general semantic features for the input video image and up-samples the coarse predicted mask to the original image size. Second, the target model adapts quickly from the limited support set. Concretely, during the online inference for testing the video, we first employ fast optimization techniques to train a powerful target model by minimizing the segmentation error in the first frame and then use it to predict the subsequent frames. During the offline training, we use a bilevel-optimization strategy to mimic the full testing procedure to train the meta knowledge model across multiple video *** proposed method is trained only on an individual public video object segmentation(VOS) benchmark without additional training sets and compared favorably with state-of-the-art methods on DAVIS-2017, with a J &F overall score of 71.6%, and on YouT ubeVOS-2018, with a J &F overall score of 75.4%. Meanwhile,a high inference speed of approximately 0.13 s per frame is maintained.

High Initial Reversible Capacity and Long Life of Ternary SnO_(2)-Co-carbon Nanocomposite Anodes for Lithium-Ion Batteries

The two major limitations in the application of SnO_2 for lithium?ion battery(LIB) anodes are the large volume variations of SnO_2 during repeated lithiation/delithiation processes and a large irreversible capacity loss during the first cycle, which can lead to a rapid capacity fade and unsatisfactory initial Coulombic e ciency(ICE). To overcome these limitations, we developed composites of ultrafine SnO_2 nanoparticles and in situ formed Co(CoSn) nanocrystals embedded in an N?doped carbon matrix using a Co?based metal–organic framework(ZIF?67). The formed Co additives and structural advantages of the carbon?confined SnO_2/Co nanocomposite e ectively inhibited Sn coarsening in the lithiated SnO_2 and mitigated its structural degradation while facilitating fast electronic transport and facile ionic di usion. As a result, the electrodes demonstrated high ICE (82.2%), outstanding rate capability(～ 800 mAh g^(-1) at a high current density of 5 A g^(-1)), and long?term cycling stability(～ 760 mAh g^(-1) after 400 cycles at a current density of 0.5 A g^(-1)). This study will be helpful in developing high?performance Si(Sn)?based oxide, Sn/Sb?based sulfide, or selenide electrodes for LIBs. In addition, some metal organic frameworks similar to ZIF?67 can also be used as composite templates.

Energy Harvesting in the Wake of An Inverted C-Shaped Bluff Body

This paper proposes a novel wake-induced vibration(WIV)-based energy harvesting system consisting of two bluff *** inverted C-shaped bluff body is stationary installed at the upstream position to generate an interference wake street,and a cylinder bluff body equipped with a transducer is elastically suspended at the downstream position to harness WIV *** hydrodynamics and energy harvesting(EH)performance of the proposed system are investigated via experimental *** reduced velocity(U*)ranging from 2 to 14(the corresponding Reynolds number ranging from 15100 to 106200)is considered in the present *** is found that the wake generated by the inverted C-shaped bluff body significantly affects the EH *** the opening angle(α)of the C-shaped bluff body increases the vibration amplitude of the downstream cylinder,thereby increasing the harvested *** the spacing(L)between two bluff bodies is two times the cylinder diameter(D),the wake-induced vibration(WIV)mode is observed,while the combined WIV and wake galloping(WG)mode occurs whenαis 150°,and L equals 3D or *** average drag coefficient becomes negative when L is 2D,3D,or *** carefully configuring a C-shaped bluff body,the wake generated by it can bring an augmenting effect on the vibration of the downstream EH *** example,the RMS power output of the proposed EH system reaches a maximum of 0.31 W at U*=8 and L=4D,which is 300%greater than that of its traditional ***,after a number of case stud-ies,it is identified that the proposed EH system can achieve the best performance whenαis 150°and L=2D.

Evaluation of mobility impact on urban work zones using statistical models

This work correlated the detailed work zone location and time data from the Wis LCS system with the five-min inductive loop detector data. One-sample percentile value test and two-sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov(K-S) test were applied to compare the speed and flow characteristics between work zone and non-work zone conditions. Furthermore, we analyzed the mobility characteristics of freeway work zones within the urban area of Milwaukee, WI, USA. More than 50% of investigated work zones have experienced speed reduction and 15%-30% is necessary reduced volumes. Speed reduction was more significant within and at the downstream of work zones than at the upstream.

As the fault‐based attacks are becoming a more pertinent threat in today's era of edge computing/internet‐of‐things,there is a need to streamline the existing tools for better accuracy and ease of use,so that we can gauge the attacker's power and a proper countermeasure can be devised in the long *** this regard,we propose a machine learning(ML)assisted tool that can be used in the context of a differential fault *** particular,finding the exact fault location by analysing the output difference(typically the XOR of the nonfaulty and the faulty ciphertexts)is somewhat *** the literature survey,we notice that the Pearson's correlation coefficient dominantly is used for this purpose,and has almost become the defacto *** this method can yield good accuracy for certain cases,we argue that an MLbased method is more powerful in all the situations we experiment *** sub-stantiate our claim by showing the relative performances(we choose the commonly used multilayer perceptron as our ML tool)with two variants of Grain‐128a(a stream cipher,and a stream cipher with authentication),the lightweight stream cipher LIZARD and the lightweight block cipher SIMON‐32(where the faults are injected at the fifth last rounds).Our results demonstrate that a common ML tool can outperform the correlation with the same training/testing *** believe that our work extends the state‐of‐the‐art by showing how traditional cryptographic methods can be replaced by a more powerful ML tool.

Mobile Edge Computing(MEC)has been envisioned as an efficient solution to provide computation-intensive yet latency-sensitive services for wireless *** this paper,we investigate the optimal dynamic spectrum allocation-assisted multiuser computation offloading in MEC for overall latency ***,we first focus on a static multiuser computation offloading scenario and jointly optimize users'offloading decisions,transmission durations,and Edge Servers'(ESs)resource *** to the nonconvexity of our joint optimization problem,we identify its layered structure and decompose it into two problems:a subproblem and a top *** the subproblem,we propose a bisection search-based algorithm to efficiently find the optimal users'offloading decisions and ESs’resource allocations under a given transmission ***,we use a linear search-based algorithm for solving the top problem to obtain the optimal transmission duration based on the result of the ***,after solving the static scenario,we consider a dynamic scenario of multiuser computation offloading with time-varying channels and *** efficiently address this dynamic scenario,we propose a deep reinforcement learning-based online algorithm to determine the near-optimal transmission duration in a real-time *** results are provided to validate our proposed algorithms for minimizing the overall latency in both static and dynamic offloading *** also demonstrate the advantages of our proposed algorithms compared to the conventional multiuser computation offloading schemes.

Facial attribute editing has mainly two objectives:1)translating image from a source domain to a target one,and 2)only changing the facial regions related to a target attribute and preserving the attribute-excluding *** this work,we propose a multi-attention U-Net-based generative adversarial network(MU-GAN).First,we replace a classic convolutional encoder-decoder with a symmetric U-Net-like structure in a generator,and then apply an additive attention mechanism to build attention-based U-Net connections for adaptively transferring encoder representations to complement a decoder with attribute-excluding detail and enhance attribute editing ***,a self-attention(SA)mechanism is incorporated into convolutional layers for modeling long-range and multi-level dependencies across image *** results indicate that our method is capable of balancing attribute editing ability and details preservation ability,and can decouple the correlation among *** outperforms the state-of-the-art methods in terms of attribute manipulation accuracy and image *** code is available at https://***/SuSir1996/MU-GAN.

Mobile Network Computer Can Better Describe The Future of Information Society

In the paper, we illustrate the importance of the concept of mobile network computer from a technological perspective. Because of the usefulness of mobile network computers, with the growth of the Internet of things, mobile network computers may include not only TV box audio-visual equipment, wireless household appliances, and mobile communication equipment, but may also include devices such as intelligent foot rings, smart watches, smart glasses, smart shoes and smart coats. Considering the different types of networks, e.g. IP multimedia Subsystem(IMS), we explain why some network elements are inaccurate and misleading from a technological perspective. We aim to popularize the concept of mobile network computers for its accuracy and importance, which better define modern mobile terminals and reflects the nature of multiple mobile terminals based on the structure of their integrated computers and the capabilities of processing multimedia. In the computer and Internet age, network computers and mobile network computers are the main terminals of fixed and mobile networks, respectively. Therefore, based on the concept of mobile network computers, we discuss the future of information society.

This paper proposes a design method of the proportional integral derivative controller. The controller is used to a delay-time system. A polynomial approximation method is studied to the delay-time system. The controller is designed based on the approximation model and used to the delay-time system. Some numerical examples are illustrated to show the effective of the proposed method.
