Design of Low-Power Modern Radar SoC Based on ASIX

With the rapid development in spaceflights and aeroplanes, the demand for low-power and miniaturization techniques has become insistent in modern radar systems. A new framework for low-power modern radar System on a Chip （SoC） based on ASIX core is presented. Pivotal modules and low-power design flows are described in detail. The dynamic clock-distribution mechanism of the power management module and the influence of the chip power are both stressed. This design adopts the SMIC 0.18-μm 1P6M Salicide CMOS process, the area is 7.825 mm x 7.820 mm, there are approximately 2 million gates and the frequency is 100 MHz. The results show that the modern radar SoC passes the test on modern radar application system and meets the design requirements. The chip incurs power savings of 42.79% during the fore-end phase and 12.77% during the back-end phase. The total power is less than 350 mW for a 100-MHz operating environment.

In the application of Wireless sensor networks(WSNs),effective estimation for link quality is a basic issue in guarantying reliable data transmission and upper network protocol performance.A link quality estimation mechanism is proposed,which is based on Support vector machine(SVM) with multi-class *** the analysis of the wireless link characteristics,two physical parameters of communication,Receive signal strength indicator(RSSI) and Link quality indicator(LQI),are chosen as estimation *** link quality is divided into five levels according to Packet reception rate(PRR).A link quality estimation model based on SVM with decision tree is *** model is built on kernel functions of radial basis and polynomial respectively,in which RSSI,LQI are the input *** experimental results show that the model is *** with the recent published link quality estimation models,our model can estimate the current link quality accurately with a relative small number of probe packets,so that it costs less energy consumption than the one caused by sending a large number of probe *** this model which is high efficiency and energy saving can prolong the network life.

The cloud operating system （cloud OS） is used for managing the cloud resources such that they can be used effectively and efficiently. And also it is the duty of cloud OS to provide convenient interface for users and applications. However, these two goals are often conflicting because convenient abstraction usually needs more computing resources. Thus, the cloud OS has its own characteristics of resource management and task scheduling for supporting various kinds of cloud applications. The evolution of cloud OS is in fact driven by these two often conflicting goals and finding the right tradeoff between them makes each phase of the evolution happen. In this paper, we have investigated the ways of cloud OS evolution from three different aspects： enabling technology evolution, OS architecture evolution and cloud ecosystem evolution. We show that finding the appropriate APIs （application programming interfaces） is critical for the next phase of cloud OS evolution. Convenient interfaces need to be provided without scarifying efficiency when APIs are chosen. We present an API-driven cloud OS practice, showing the great capability of APIs for developing a better cloud OS and helping build and run the cloud ecosystem healthily.

Networked control systems(NCSs), whose feedback loops are connected via the communication networks, have a wide application in computer science, medicine, telecommunications, and so on. However, communication networks may suffer from congested network traffic due to the limited network bandwidth. One way to solve these issues is to use event-triggered sampling to alleviate network bandwidth utilization.

An ultra-low power complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor （CMOS） front-end readout ASIC was developed for a portable digital radiation detector. The ASIC having a charge sensitive amplifier and a semi-Gaussian pulse-shaper was produced using the CSMC 0.5 μm DPDM process. The ENC noise of 363 e at 0 pF with a noise slope of 23 e/pF complies with the stringent low noise requirements. The peaking time was 250 ns at a 100 mV/fC conversion gain （detector capacitance is 20 pF）. By operating this frontend readout ASIC in the weak inversion region, the ultra-low power dissipation is only 0.1 mW/channel （3.0 V） Simulations and test results suggest that this design gives lower power consumption than the front-end readout ASICs working in the strong inversion and is appropriate for the portable digital radiation detectors.

Filling high aspect ratio through silicon vias （TSVs） without voids and seams by copper plating is one of the technical challenges for 3D integration. Bottom-up copper plating is an effective solution for TSV filling. In this paper, a new numerical model was developed to simulate the electrochemical deposition （ECD） process, and the influence of an accelerator in the electrolyte was investigated. The arbitrary Lagrange-Eulerian （ALE） method for solving moving boundaries in the finite element method （FEM） was used to simulate the electrochemical process. In the model, diffusion coefficient and adsorption coefficient were considered, and then the time-resolved evolution of electroplating profiles was simulated with ion concentration distribution and the electric current density.

This paper concerns the need for improving the static and dynamic performance of the high voltage insulated gate bipolar transistor （HV IGBTs）. A novel structure with a carrier stored layer on the cathode side, known as an enhanced planar IGBT of the 4500 V voltage class is investigated. With the adoption of a soft punch through （SPT） concept as the vertical structure and an enhanced planar concept as the top structure, signed as SPT＋ IGBT, the simulation results indicate the turn-off switching waveform of the 4500 V SPT＋ IGBT is soft and also realizes an improved trade-off relationship between on-state voltage drop （Von） and turn-off loss （Eoff） in comparison with the SPT IGBT. Attention is also paid to the influences caused by different carrier stored layer doping dose on static and dynamic performances, to optimize on-state and switching losses of SPT＋ IGBT.
