The cotton mealybug, Phenacoccus solenopsis Tinsley, is a serious and invasive pest. At present, genetic resources for studying P. solenopsis are limited, and this negatively affects genetic research on the organism and, consequently, translational work to improve management of this pest. In the present study, expressed sequence tags （ESTs） were analyzed from a normalized complementary DNA library of/？. solenopsis. In addition, EST-derived microsatellite loci （also known as simple sequence repeats or SSRs） were isolated and characterized. A total of 1107 high-quality ESTs were acquired from the library. Clustering and assembly analysis resulted in 785 unigenes, which were classified functionally into 23 categories according to the Gene Ontology database. Seven EST-based SSR markers were developed in this study and are expected to be useful in characterizing how this invasive species was introduced, as well as providing insights into its genetic microevolution.

Rice Straw-Derived Biochar Properties and Functions as Cu(Ⅱ) and Cyromazine Sorbents as Influenced by Pyrolysis Temperature

In this study, biochars from rice straw （Oryza sativa L.） were prepared at 200-600 ℃ by oxygen-limited pyrolysis to investigate the changes in properties of rice straw biochars produced at different temperatures, and to examine the adsorption capacities of the biochars for a heavy metal, copper（II）（Cu（II））, and an organic insecticide of cyromazine, as well as to further reveal the adsorption mechanisms. The results obtained with batch experiments showed that the amount of Cu（II） adsorbed varied with the pyrolysis temperatures of rice straw biochar. The biochar produced at 400 ~C had the largest adsorption capacity for Cu（II）（0.37 mol kg-1） among the biochars, with the non-electrostatic adsorption as the main adsorption mechanism. The highest adsorption capacity for cyromazine （156.42 g kg-1） was found in the rice straw biochar produced at 600 ℃, and cyromazine adsorption was exclusively predominated by surface adsorption. An obvious competitive adsorption was found between 5 mmol L-1 Cu（II） and 2 g L-1 cyromazine when they were in the binary solute system. Biochar may be used to remediate heavy metal- and organic insecticide-contaminated water, while the pyrolysis temperature of feedstocks for producing biochar should be considered for the restoration of multi-contamination.

Conformations of surface atoms in various stages of nanogold-based genechip testing are scanned by the atomic force and scanning tunneling microscope. We intuitively observe the process and differences in probe combination, nucleic acid hybridization, and silver staining, which might be useful to validate the assay method of genechip. We hope to use this technology to make the other invisible chemical or biochemical reaction become visible and convincible in the future.

This study was to establish a molecular identification method to distinguish Dermacentor nuttalli(D. nuttalli) and Dermacentor marginatus(D. marginatus),and to study their phylogenetic relationship. The ticks were collected from domestic animals in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region for morphological identification,then their genomic DNAs were isolated for amplifying mitochondrial 16 S rRNA and cytochrome oxidase subunit I gene(COI). The phylogenetic tree was constructed based on the sequencing results of PCR products by employing Mega 5. 0 and Mrbayes 3. 2 for homology analysis. Clustering analysis PCR product for 16 S rRNA from both D. marginatus and D. nuttalli was clustered together with their respective 16 S rRNA sequences previously accessed in GenBank,and that for COI gene as well. These are basically identical with morphological identification results. Our results indicate that morphological identification,combined with molecular markers,would be a simple and accurate method for distinguishing D. nuttalli and D. marginatus.

FoF1-ATPase is an active rotary motor,and generates three-ATP for each *** saturated substrate concentration,the motor can achieve about 103 r.p.m,which means one motor can generate about 105 ATP molecules during 30 ***,we constituted a novel nanodevice with a molecular rotary motor and a“battery”,FoF1-ATPase and chromatophore,and presented a novel method of sandwich type rotary biosensor based on εsubunit with one target-to-one motor,in which one target corresponds 105 ATP molecules as detection signals during 30 *** target such as NT-proBNP detection demonstrated that this novel nanodevice has potential to be developed into an ultrasensitive biosensor to detect low expressed targets.

A new species and two new Chinese records in the genus Ulocladium from soil are reported. New species is Ulocladium leve, and the new records are U. alternariae and U. consortiale. Latin diagnosis of the new species is presented. Holotype specimen (dried culture) of the new species and dried cultures of two new records are deposited in the Herbarium of Shandong Agricultural University: plant Pathology (HSAUP).

Two species of the genus Boysidia Ancey, 1881 were reported as new to science, Boysidia（Boysidia） xianfengensis sp. nov. and B.（B.） xiaoguanensis sp. nov., while the distribution of the 23 species of Boysidia from China was discussed. The materials of the new species were collected from Hubei Province, China by authors. The shell of B.（B.） xianfengensis sp. nov. looks small（height 4.90 mm, diameter 3.10 mm）, and has five apertural teeth： one large parietal tooth, one long columellar tooth, one small nipple-shaped upper palatal tooth, one large flake-shaped lower palatal tooth, one small infrapalatal tooth. The shell of B.（B.） xiaoguanensis sp. nov. looks small（height 3.55 mm, diameter 2.20 mm）, and has four apertural teeth： one large parietal tooth, one long columellar tooth, one large flake-shaped upper palatal tooth, one slightly small flake-shaped lower palatal tooth. The type specimens of the new species are deposited in the institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China.

Bactrocera bryoniae and Bactrocera neohumeralis are highly destructive and major biosecurity/quarantine pests of fruit and vegetable in the tropical and subtropical regions in the South Pacific and *** these pests have not established in China,precautions must be taken due to their highly destructive ***,we predicted the potential geographic distribution of *** and *** across the world and in particular China by ecological niche modeling of the Maximum Entropy(Max Ent)model with the occurrence records of these two *** bryoniae and *** exhibit similar potential geographic distribution ranges across the world and in China,and each species was predicted to be able to distribute to over 20%of the ***,the potential geographic distribution ranges for these two fruit fly species included southern Asia,the central and the southeast coast of Africa,southern North America,northern and central South America,and *** within China,most of the southern Yangtze River area was found suitable for these ***,southern China was considered to have the highest risk of *** and *** *** study identifies the regions at high risk for potential establishment of *** and *** in the world and in particular China,and informs the development of inspection and biosecurity/quarantine measures to prevent and control their invasions.

The species of the genus Chrysotus Meigen from Shanxi, China are reviewed, Two species are described as new to science： C. shanxiensis sp. nov. and C. thornpenis sp. nov. C. biprojicienus Wei ＆ Zhang and C. serratus Wang ＆ Yang are recorded from Shanxi for the first time. A key to the species of Chrysotus from Shanxi is presented.
