Unraveling post-growth mechanisms of monolayer CsPbBr3 nanocubes:Laser-enhanced transformations and cathodoluminescence-electron microscopy correlations

Lead-halide perovskite nanoparticles（LHP NPs） are highly promising materials for next-generation displays and solid-state lighting due to their exceptional optical properties. However, their inherent instability presents a significant challenge. Recent advances have demonstrated that optoelectronic devices based on monolayer nanoparticle films exhibit both high luminescence efficiency and long-term *** research demonstrates that mobility limitations and anisotropic alignments in CsPbBr3nanocube monolayer films are key to their stabilization, hindering spontaneous growth through face-to-face fusion and resulting in the formation of connecting necks in a diagonal direction. Introducing laser irradiation confirmed this by significantly accelerating nanocubes growth, increasing mobility, and enhancing local structural ordering, leading to larger and more regularly shaped nanosheets. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy line-scan analyses indicated that laser irradiation did not disrupt the ligand structure. Transmission electron microscopy and correlative cathodoluminescence electron microscopy revealed the effects of post-growth and heterogeneous structures, including enhanced luminescence and inhomogeneous intensity in the nanosheets. These findings deepen the understanding of the post-growth mechanism of monolayer nanoparticles and the structure-emission correlation and highlight the unique role of laser irradiation in directing the formation of well-defined and regular nanostructures.

Rechargeable aqueous zinc-metal batteries （AZMBs） are promising candidates for large-scale energy storage systems due to their low cost and high ***,their performance and sustainability are significantly hindered by the sluggish desolvation kinetics at the electrode/electrolyte interface and the corresponding hydrogen evolution reaction where active water molecules tightly participate in the Zn（H2O）62+solvation ***,learnt from self-generated solid electrolyte interphase （SEI） in anodes,the dielectric but ion-conductive zinc niobate nanoparticles artificial layer is constructed on metallic Zn surface （ZNB@Zn）,acting as a rapid desolvation *** zincophilic and dielectric-conductive properties of ZNB layer accelerate interfacial desolvation/diffusion and suppress surface corrosion or dendrite formation,achieving uniform Zn plating/stripping behavior,as confirmed by electronic/optical microscopies and interface spectroscopical measurements together with theoretical ***,the as-prepared ZNB@Zn electrode exhibits excellent cycling stability of over 2000 h and robust reversibility （99.54%） even under high current density and depth of discharge ***,the assembled ZNB@Zn-based full cell displays high capacity-retention rate of 80.21%after 3000 cycles at 5 A g-1and outstanding rate performance up to 10 A *** large-areal pouch cell is stabilized for hundreds of cycles,highlighting the bright prospects of the dielectric but ion-conductive layer in further application of AZMBs.

Consistency of intensity ratio between spectral lines with similar self-absorption characteristics during ungated laser induced breakdown spectroscopy measurements

This work reports that the intensity ratio of spectral lines having similar self-absorption characteristics during laser induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS) analysis can become nearly constant over a wide range of irradiation conditions if the intensities are integrated over a sufficiently long time. It is shown that the plasma temperature and intensity ratio of these spectral lines have temporal similarity. The spectral lines with similar self-absorption properties may be selected to improve the accuracy and consistency of LIBS analysis results under an environment with fluctuating measurement conditions.

X-ray andγ-ray detectors are widely used in medical,military,security,material analysis,and industrial *** recent years,perovskite materials have become promising materials for radiation detection owing to their strong stopping power,considerable carrier transportation ability,and simple synthesis *** studies have demonstrated both direct and indirect radiation detectors using perovskite *** this review,we aim to elucidate the mechanism by which X-rays andγ-rays interact with matter,explain the principles of the energy integrating mode and photon counting mode for direct detection,and discuss the key factors determining device ***,we summarize recent advances in perovskite-based radiation detectors for both ***,we identify challenges that need to be overcome to enable perovskite materials to be successfully commercialized.

Surface diffusion of Si, Ge and C adatoms on Si (001) substrate studied by the molecular dynamics simulation

Depositions of Si, Ge and C atoms onto a preliminary Si （001） substrate at different temperatures are investigated by using the molecular dynamics method. The mechanism of atomic self-assembling occurring locally on the flat terraces between steps is suggested. Diffusion and arrangement patterns of adatoms at different temperatures are observed. At 900 K, the deposited atoms are more likely to form dimers in the perpendicular [110] direction due to the more favourable movement along the perpendicular [110] direction. C adatoms are more likely to break or reconstruct the dimers on the substrate surface and have larger diffusion distances than Ge and Si adatoms. Exchange between C adatoms and substrate atoms are obvious and the epitaxial thickness is small. Total potential energies of adatoms and substrate atoms involved in the simulation cell are computed. When a newly arrived adatom reaches the stable position, the potential energy of the system will decrease and the curves turns into a ladder-like shape. It is found that C adatoms can lead to more reduction of the system energy and the potential energy of the system will increase as temperature increases.

Theoretical study and optimization of a high power mid-infrared erbium-doped ZBLAN fibre laser

Based on the rate equations describing the erbium-doped fluoride glass （ZBLAN） fibre lasers with different pumping configurations being taken into account, this paper presents theoretical calculations related to the dynamic population density and the operation performance of a high power mid-infrared all-fibre erbium-doped ZBLAN fibre laser. It shows that the ground-state absorption, excited-state absorption and energy-transfer-upconversion processes co-exist and produce a population balance, causing the laser to operate stably at a continuous wave state. A good agreement between the theoretical results and recent experimental measurement is obtained. Furthermore, the laser structure parameters including fibre length, reflectance of output fibre Bragg grating and pumping configurations are quantitatively optimised to achieve the best performance. The results show, as expected, that the slope efficiency of the fibre laser can be improved significantly through optimisation, which then provides an important guide for the design of high-performance mid-infrared erbium-doped ZBLAN fibre lasers.

Ten-channel mode-division-multiplexed silicon photonic integrated circuit with sharp bends

A multimode silicon photonic integrated circuit(PIC) comprising a pair of on-chip mode(de)multiplexers with 10-mode channels and a multimode bus waveguide with sharp bends is demonstrated to enable multi-channel on-chip transmissions. The core width of the multimode bus waveguide is chosen such that it can support 10 guided modes, of which there are four transverse-magnetic polarization modes and six transverse-electric polarization modes. This multimode bus waveguide comprises sharp bends based on modified Euler curves. Experimental results demonstrate that the present silicon PIC enables the 10-channel on-chip transmission with a low inter-mode crosstalk of approximately-20 dB over a broad bandwidth of 1520–1610 nm even when the bending radius of the S-bend is as small as 40 μm. Compared with a silicon PIC using a conventional arc-bend with the same bending radius, our proposed PIC demonstrates a significant improvement.

High channel-count comb filter based on multi-concatenated sampled chirped fiber Bragg gratings

A high channel-count comb filter based on multi-concatenated sampled chirped fiber Bragg gratings （MC- SCFBGs） is proposed and optimally designed by using several chirped gratings with different fundamental grating periods, instead of non-grating sections of SCFBGs. The numerical simulations of the reflection spectra show that the channel spacing and the channel bandwidth in MC-SCFBGs are smaller than those in multi-concatenated chirped fiber Bragg gratings （MC-CFBGs） and that the spectral bandwidth of MC-SCFBGs can be greatly broadened by increasing the cascade number of the grating sections in each samDling Deriod.

Polarisation-sensitive four-wave mixing and soliton self-frequency shift effect in the highly birefringent photonic crystal fibre

By adjusting the polarisation state of the pump at 805 nm parallel to slow （x） and fast （y） axes of the highly birefringent photonic crystal fibre with zero dispersion wavelengths 790 nm and 750 nm, this paper demonstrates the efficient polarisation-sensitive four wave mixing involved in pump, anti-Stokes and Stokes signals and soliton self- frequency shift effects induced by the phase-matching between red-shifted solitons and blue-shifted dispersive waves. If the reduction of coupling efficiency to the circular pump laser mode or other circular fibres due to asymmetry of the core is neglected, more than 98% of the total input power is kept in a single linear polarisation. Controlled dispersion characteristic of the doublet of fundamental guided-modes results in achieving light field strongly confined in principal axes of photonic crystal fibre, and enhancing the corresponding nonlinear-optical process through the remarkable nonlinear birefringence.

Fabrication and characterization of novel high-speed In GaAs/InP uni-traveling-carrier photodetector for high responsivity

A top-illuminated circular mesa uni-traveling-carrier photodetector（UTC-PD） is proposed in this paper. By employing Gaussian graded doping in In Ga As absorption layer and In P depleted layer, the responsivity and high speed response characteristics of the device are optimized simultaneously. The responsivity up to 1.071 A/W（the external quantum efficiency of 86%） is obtained at 1550 nm with a 40-μm diameter device under 10-V reverse bias condition. Meanwhile, the dark current of 7.874 n A and the 3-d B bandwidth of 11 GHz are obtained with the same device at a reverse bias voltage of3 V.
