The saddle-point variational method and restricted variational method are used to calculate energies of doublyexcited singlet states 1s^23lnl′ （n =3-.） ^1 De in Be-like O^4＋ ions, including the mass polarization and relativistic corrections. The saddle-point complex-rotation method is used to compute the Auger widths and Auger transition rates. These results are compared with other theoretical and experimental data in the literature.

A single-photon detector based on an InGaAs avalanche photodiode has been developed for use at telecom wavelengths. A suitable delay and sampling gate modulation circuit are used to prevent positive and negative transient pulses from influencing the detection of true photon induced avalanches. A monostable trigger circuit eliminates the influence of avalanche peak jitter, and a dead time modulation feedback control circuit decreases the afterpulsing. From performance tests we lind that at the optimum operation point, the quantum efficiency is 12% and the dark count rate 1.5 × 10^-6 ns^-1, with a detection rate of 500 kHz.

A quantitative study about the thermal activation of thermal donors (TD) in high resistivity magnetic Czochralski (MCz) silicon was carried out. The samples are p+/p/n+ diodes (active area 0.25 cm(2), thickness 300 mu m) made of MCz p-type Si wafers with the resistivity of about 2 k Omega-cm. The concentration of interstitial oxygen (O-i) in this material was measured by the Fourier transformation infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy method and it is 4.9 x 10(17) cm(-3). The TD activation was performed through an isochronal thermal treatment at 430 degrees C up to a total time of 120 min. The space charge density after each annealing step was extracted from capacitance-voltage (CV) measurements. The TD generation can be utilized in processing of silicon detectors (pixel, strip and drift detectors) that are used e.g. in space applications, high-energy physics experiments, and several visual imaging applications. If the starting material is boron-doped p-type high-resistivity Cz-Si, the TD generation process can be utilized in order to produce p+/n-/n+ detectors. The last thermal process step, i.e. the sintering of aluminum, is intentionally carried out at the temperature where TD's are created. Due to the generated donors, the p-type bulk will eventually be compensated to n-type bulk. Moreover, the full depletion voltage of detectors (V-fd) could be tailored between a wide range from 30 V up to almost 1 000 V by changing heat treatment duration at 400-450 degrees C from 20 to 120 min.

The longitudinal velocity Vl and shear velocity Vs of ultrasonic wave propagated along arbitrary three perpendicular directions of the Zr_(41.2)Ti_(13.8)Cu_(12.5)Ni_(10.0)Be_(22.5) bulk metallic glass(Zr/Ti BMG)have been measured at ambient pressure,under hydrostatic pressure(up to 0.5 GPa)and uniaxial compression(up to 70 MPa)using the pulse echo overlap *** third order elastic constants and the Grüneisen parameter related to the anharmonic properties were derived and *** was found that the BMG with marked different microstructural characteristics comparing with the amorphous carbon exhibited different behaviours related to shear vibratory under high pressure.

Complex 2 crystallizes in triclinic, space group P1^- with a = 9.420（3）, b = 10.209（4）, c = 12.407（4） A, α = 104.136（6）, β = 108.132（5）, γ= 95.338（6）°, V = 1081.0（7） A^3, Mr= 496.83, Z = 2, Dc= 1.526 g/cm^3, F（000） = 500, μ = 2.941 mm^-1, the final R = 0.0445 and ωR = 0.1117 for 3251 observed reflections （I 〉 2σ（I））. Loss-cone instabilities are studied for linear fusion devices. The gyro-kinetic equation for such a configuration is rigorously constructed in terms of action-angle variables by making use of canonical transformation. The dispersion relation, including for the first time, finite bounce frequency is obtained and numerically solved. The loss-cone modes are found near ion-cyclotron frequency. The growth rates are greatly reduced and approaching zero with increasing beta value. The results suggest that loss-cone instabilities are unlikely to be threatening to linear fusion devices since a new longitudinal invariant is found and gives a constraint which helps confinement.
