Proximal Femur Bionic Nail (PFBN): A Panacea for Unstable Intertrochanteric Femur Fracture

With the aging population,intertrochanteric femur fracture in the elderly has become one of the most serious public health issues and a hot topic of research in trauma *** to the limitations of internal fixation techniques and the insufficient mechanical design of nails,the occurrence of complications delays patient recovery after surgical *** of a proximal femur bionic nail(PFBN)based on Zhang’s N triangle theory provides triangular supporting fixation,which dramatically decreases the occurrence of complications and has been widely used for clinical treatment of unstable intertrochanteric femur fracture *** this work,we developed an equivalent biomechanical model to analyze improvement in bone remodeling of unstable intertrochanteric femur fracture through PFBN *** results show that compared with proximal femoral nail antirotation(PFNA)and InterTan,PFBN can dramatically decrease the maximum strain in the proximal *** on Frost’s mechanostat theory,the local mechanical environment in the proximal femur can be regulated into the medium overload region by using a PFBN,which may render the proximal femur in a state of physiological overload,favoring post-operative recovery of intertrochanteric femur fracture in the *** work shows that PFBN may constitute a panacea for unstable intertrochanteric femur fracture and provides insights into improving methods of internal fixation.

Probing of coupling effect induced plasmonic charge accumulation for water oxidation

A key issue for redox reactions in plasmon-induced photocatalysis, particularly for water oxidation, is the concentration of surface-accumulating charges(electrons or holes) at a reaction site for artificial photosynthesis. However, where plasmonic charge accumulated at a catalyst’s surface, and how to improve local charge density at active sites, remains unknown because it is difficult to identify the exact spatial location and local density of the plasmon-induced charge, particularly with regard to holes. Herein, we show that at the single particle level, plasmon-coupling-induced holes can be greatly accumulated at the plasmonic Au nanoparticle dimer/Ti O2 interface in the nanogap region, as directly evidenced by the locally enhanced surface photovoltage. Such an accumulation of plasmonic holes can significantly accelerate the water oxidation reaction(multi-holes involved) at the interfacial reaction site, with nearly one order of magnitude enhancement in photocatalytic activities compared to those of highly dispersed Au nanoparticles on Ti O2. Combining Kelvin probe force microscopy and theoretical simulation, we further clarified that the local accumulated hole density is proportional to the square of the local near-field enhancement. Our findings advance the understanding of how charges spatially distribute in plasmonic systems and the specific role that local charge density at reaction sites plays in plasmonic photocatalysis.

目的:探讨用高压氧治疗高原脱习服症的临床效果。方法:对近期结束高原防守任务后赴临潼疗养院进行疗养治疗的31例高原官兵的临床资料进行回顾性研究。我们将这31例患者分为高压氧组和康复疗养组,其中,高压氧组有18例患者,康复疗养组有13例患者。我院对康复疗养组的患者进行康复疗养,在此基础上,对高压氧组的患者进行高压氧治疗。我们在患者入院时、进行治疗后的15天及30天记录其临床症状,并对其临床症状的改善情况进行评分,比较两组患者的评分结果。结果:在治疗后15天后,高压氧组患者的高原脱习服症状评分明显低于康复疗养组的患者,二者相比差异有显著性(P<0.05)。结论:在进行康复疗养的基础上用高压氧治疗高原脱习服症可明显地改善患者的症状。但该方法的治疗效果及成熟的治疗方案尚待进一步的研究。

Microbiome analysis reveals soil microbial community alteration with the effect of animal excretion contamination and altitude in Tibetan Plateau of China

The fertile forages in the Tibetan Plateau provide natural conditions for animal husbandry,whereas it is still unclear that whether animal excretion can result in the alteration of soil microbial ***,this study was performed to investigate the impact of animal excretion contamination and land altitude on the soil microbial community in different grazing areas of Tibetan Plateau.A total of 1160,190 high-quality valid sequences and 25,478 operational taxonomic units were achieved from 18 samples at three different altitude sites(Linzhi,Rikaze and Shannan).Here,we found excremental contamination did not alter the richness and diversity of soil microbial community,but it resulted in a significant alteration in the proportion of some ***,the proportion of Proteobacteria in the LZa was obviously increased,whereas Gemmatimonadetes was significantly decreased as compared to ***,significant difference can also be observed in Verrucomicrobia between RKZe and ***,we also found that excremental contamination significantly decreased the abundance of some bacterial genera,such as Sphingopyxis,Polycyclovorans,Singulisphaera Cohnella,Polycyclovorans,Defluviicoccus,and Arthrobacter,which were closely related to soil health,pollutant degradation,and nutrient ***,excremental contamination increased the proportion of harmful and beneficial bacteria in soil,such as the percentage of Acidibacter,Gemmatimonadaceae and Pajaroellobacter increased,while the ratio of Pontibacter,Flavisolibacter,Parasegetibacter,and Niastella ***,soil samples collected from different altitude sites also displayed different soil microbial community *** results demonstrated that excremental contamination could alter the soil microbial community structure and affect the normal function of the soil by affecting the proportion of harmful bacteria to beneficial ***,this study can also provide a theoret

Utilization of magnetically treated water has been investigated and applied in many countries such as Russia,Australia,Israel,China and *** have shown that the magnetic field is used as a safe alternative to improve plant growth and *** the properties of magnetically treated water have received a great deal of interest in recent years,there are no studies conducted in Moroccan agricultural *** present study aimed at gaining more insight on the effect of magnetically treated irrigation water(MTIW)in the northwest region of Morocco,on the yield of strawberry plants(Fragaria×ananassa ***)and its *** experiments were conducted in situ,during two crop seasons(2011-2012 and 2013-2014).The results confirm that physical treatment of irrigation water by a static magnetic field improves the yield and quality of strawberry *** percentages of increase in number of flowers,number of fruits,fruit yield and quality of export production per 100 plants were 27.4%,30.9%,34.8%,24.3%,respectively,compared with normal irrigation water(average over both crop seasons).These results suggest that irrigation with MTIW improves the production as well as the quality of the strawberry fruit,thus water use efficiency was ***,the MTIW can be considered as a promising technique for improvement but extensive research is still required.

Comparative Assessment of the Phytochemical and Selected Heavy Metal Levels in Cucumis sativusL. and Solanum aethiopicumL. Fruit Sample Grown in South Eastern and North Central regions of Nigeria Respectively

Studies were carried out to comparatively assess the phytochemical and heavy metal levels in Solanum aethiopicum L. and Cucumis sativus L. fruit samples grown in the South Eastern and North Central regions of Nigeria respectively using standard analytical procedures and instrumentation. The fruit samples were assayed for selected heavy metals (Pb, Cd and Cu) using atomic absorption spectrophotometer after wet digestion of the samples. The five detected phytochemicals (flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids, saponins and glycosides) were present at varying amounts in the investigated fruit samples from the South Eastern and North Central regions of Nigeria. The range of mean values of flavonoids, terpenoids, saponins and glycosides in the S. aethiopicum L. fruit samples from the two studied regions were 0.50 - 0.57, 0.53 - 1.26, 0.44 - 0.78, 1.12 - 1.93 and 0.40 - 0.50 mg/g respectively. The range of mean values of flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids, saponins and glycosides in the C. sativus L. fruit samples from the two studied regions of Nigeria were 1.27 - 1.69, 0.53 - 0.55, 0.96 - 1.51, 0.41 - 0.83 and 0.90 - 1.74 mg/g respectively. Studies were carried out to comparatively assess the proximate and mineral composition of Solanum aethiopicum L. and Cucumis sativus L. fruit samples grown in the South Eastern and North Central regions of Nigeria respectively, following standard analytical procedures and instrumentation. The mineral elements (Na, K, Zn and Ca) were determined using atomic absorption spectrophotometer after wet digestion of the samples while the proximate parameters (ash content, moisture content, crude fibre content, crude protein content, crude fat content and carbohydrate content) were determined in accordance with standard analytical procedures. The mean range of the moisture, crude fibre, crude protein, crude fat, ash and carbohydrate contents in the S. aethiopicum L. fruit samples grown in the North Central and South Eastern regions of Nigeria were 72.49 - 88.23, 2.15 - 3.67, 1.31 - 1.85, 0.43 - 0.76, 0.51 - 0.84 and 3.18% - 5.72% respectively. During the past 3000 years,cattle on the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau have developed adaptive phenotypes under the selective pressure of hypoxia,ultraviolet(UV)radiation,and extreme *** genetic mechanism underlying this rapid adaptation is not yet well ***,we present whole-genome resequencing data for 258 cattle from 32 cattle breeds/populations,including 89 Tibetan cattle representing eight populations distributed at altitudes ranging from 3400 m to 4300 *** genomic analysis revealed that Tibetan cattle exhibited a continuous phylogeographic cline from the East Asian taurine to the South Asian indicine *** found that recently selected genes in Tibetan cattle were related to body size(HMGA2 and NCAPG)and energy expenditure(DUOXA2).We identiﬁed signals of sympatric introgression from yak into Tibetan cattle at different altitudes,covering 0.64%–3.26%of their genomes,which included introgressed genes responsible for hypoxia response(EGLN1),cold adaptation(LRP11),DNA damage repair(LATS1),and UV radiation resistance(GNPAT).We observed that introgressed yak alleles were associated with noncoding variants,including those in present *** Tibetan cattle,three yak introgressed SNPs in the EGLN1 promoter region reduced the expression of EGLN1,suggesting that these genomic variants enhance hypoxia *** together,our results indicated complex adaptation processes in Tibetan cattle,where recently selected genes and introgressed yak alleles jointly facilitated rapid adaptation to high-altitude environments.

Background: Phylogeographical patterns and population dynamics are usually interpreted by environmental disturbances and geographic barriers of the past. However, sister species may exhibit disparate patterns of genetic structures and population dynamics due to their habitat preference and altitude segregation. In this study, we tested how species-specific altitude habitat affected phylogeographical patterns in two sister snowcock species, Tibetan(Tetraogallus tibetanus) and Himalayan Snowcocks(T. himalayensis).Methods: A panel of seven microsatellite loci and a fragment of Mitochondrial DNA Control region were used to investigate genetic structures and population dynamics in hope of revealing the underlying evolutionary processes through the identification of possible past demographic ***: Our results suggest that T. himalayensis showed a significant phylogeographical signal in mtDNA(FST microsatellite(F the glacial-interglacial cycles in the = 0.66, p altitude specialities were reflected in the genetic structure patterns and population dynamics of these two species.
