Green disposal of waste smartphone protective film:Efficiency,mechanism,bench-scale test and secondary waste reutilization

The manufacture and obsolescence of smartphones produce numerous waste plastic accessories(e.g.,waste smartphone protective film(WSPF)),possessing immense potential for ***,available recycling technologies have limitations such as substrate damage and secondary pollutant *** present study aimed to develop a green disposal method that not only recycled polyethylene terephthalate(PET)from WSPF,but also reused the stripped polyacrylate(PAA)adhesive as an adsorbent to reduce solid waste *** the WSPF was treated in 1 mol/L NaOH solution at 90°C,the PAA hydrolyzed to two main by-products of 1-butanol and 2-ethylhexanol,weakening the binding strength between PAA and PET and then efficient separation of *** bench-scale test revealed that over 97.2%of detachment efficiency toward PAA was achieved during continuous treatment of 17 batches of WSPF(200 g for each)without supplement of NaOH and generation of ***,the economic evaluation indicated that the recycling method would generate a net profit margin of 647%for the second year without considering the incurrence of new cost and ***,the pyrolysis of waste PAA enabled its conversion into potential adsorbent,which showed 2 to 4 times enhanced adsorption capacity toward styrene and ethyl acetate after modification with NaOH *** study provides a green method for recycling waste plastics and inspires a referable solution for solid waste treatment in the smartphone industry.

0 INTRODUCTION Landslide is one of the most common and serious natural disasters in the world,which causes great damage to social development and people's life and property safety(Wei et al.,2024;Froude and Petley,2018).Landslides are responsible for an average of thousands of deaths and billions of economic losses annually(Dai et al.,2023).The study of landslide geomorphology plays a crucial role in many aspects such as landslide formation mechanisms,dynamic process,and prevention and control(Hou et al.,2024;Wang et al.,2024),and provides scientific support for infrastructure construction,road route selection,and urban land planning(Vargas-Cuervo et al.,2024;Laimer,2017).Therefore,it is essential to gain a better understanding of those roles and to further contribute to disaster prevention and reduction.

Rapid post-earthquake safety assessment of low-rise reinforced concrete structures

Standardized framework for assessing soil quality at antimony smelting site by considering microbial-induced resilience and heavy metal contamination

Histochemical localization and characterization of AKP,ACP,NSE,and POD from cultured Apostichopus japonicus

We investigated the distribution of four enzymes involved in the immune response of Apostichopus japonicus. We collected samples of the tentacles, papillate podium, integument, respiratory tree, and digestive tract and stained them for acid phosphatase （ACP）, alkaline phosphatase （AKP）, non-specific esterase （NSE） and peroxidase （POD） activity. The distribution and content of ACE AKP, NSE, and POD differed among the tissues. The coelomic epithelium of the tentacle, papillate podium, and integument and the mucous layer of respiratory tree were positive for ACP activity. The coelomic epithelium and cuticular layer of the tentacle, papillate podium, and integument and the mucous layer and tunica externa of the respiratory tree and digestive tract stained positive or weakly positive for AKP activity. Almost all the epithelial tissues stained positive, strongly positive, or very strongly positive for NSE activity. The cuticular layer of the tentacle and integument and the mucous layer, tunica submucosa, and tunica externa of the respiratory tree and digestive tract stained positive for POD activity. We hypothesize that these enzymes play a role in the immune response in A. japonicus.

Nanoplastic(NP)contaminants are receiving increasing attention due to the harm they can cause to aquatic organisms and their accumulation in the human body through the food *** goal of this study was to evaluate the oxidative stress caused by NPs on the clams Meretrix meretrix and Sinonovacula *** were exposed to three concentrations of fluorescently labeled polystyrene NPs(PS-NPs;0,0.1,and 1 mg L^(-1))for 7 d followed by a 3 d recovery *** activities of antioxidant enzymes,such as catalase(CAT),superoxide dismutase(SOD),glutathione peroxidase(GPx)and the content of malonaldehyde(MDA)were measured in the digestive gland,gills,and mantle *** showed that the SOD activity in the gills of *** was significantly higher than that of the control at day 1,and PS-NPs exposure inhibited the CAT activity in the gills and SOD and GPx activities in the *** to low or high concentrations of PS-NPs increased the activities of both CAT and GPx in the gills of *** at day *** oxidative damage was more severe in the digestive gland of *** and in the mantle of *** based on MDA level,and it returned to normal after *** biomarker response,index version 2(IBRv2)values showed that the gills were more sensitive to PS-NPs than mantle and digestive ***,the oxidative stress by PS-NPs depended on exposure time,dose,organ,and species.

Inversion Study on Pollutant Discharges in the Bohai Sea with the Adjoint Method

The adjoint method is presented which could be used to estimate the time-varying contamination concentration(CC) from pollution source(PS). Then the pollutant flux is calculated. In order to guarantee the continuity of pollutant distribution and make the calculated results more accurate, the independent point(IP) scheme is proposed. The contamination concentrations(CCs) at some time steps are selected as the independent points(IPs), and only CCs at these IPs are optimized while CCs at other points are calculated through linear interpolation of the independent CCs. In twin numerical experiments, all the given distributions are successfully inverted with the adjoint method. The cost functions and the mean absolute errors(MAEs) in concentrations and pollutant fluxes decrease greatly after assimilation, and the cost functions are reduced by about 5 orders of magnitude compared with their initial values. The results indicate that the adjoint method is computationally efficient to recover CCs from PS. It is easier to invert the given distribution which is less complex. The inversion efficiency with IP scheme is raised compared to that without this scheme. The IP scheme is significant for the inversion result, in which appropriate IP number could yield better inversion results. More work will be done to apply this method to real experiment.

The purpose of this research was to evaluate radiological safety in pediatric radiology in hospitals in the Kongo Central province of the DRC. To this end, we surveyed a convenience sample of 50 health professionals, including 10 radiologists working in the hospitals covered by the survey, to assess the practice of pediatric radiology and the degree of compliance with radiation protection principles for the safety of children and the environment. We collected radiophysical parameters to calculate entrance doses in pediatric radiology in radiology departments to determine the dosimetric level by comparison with the diagnostic reference levels of the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP). All in all, we found that in Kongo Central in the DRC, many health personnel surveyed reported that more than 30% of requested radiological examinations are not justified. Also, after comparing the entrance doses produced in the surveyed departments with those of the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP), a statistically significant difference was found in pediatric radiology between the average doses in five out of six surveyed departments and those of the ICRP. Therefore, almost all of the surveyed departments were found to be highly irradiating in children, while excessive X-ray irradiation in children can have significant effects due to their increased sensitivity to radiation. Among the risks are: increased cancer risks, damage to developing cells, potential genetic effects, and neurological effects. This is why support for implementing radiation protection principles is a necessity to promote the safety of patients and the environment against the harmful effects of X-rays in conventional radiology.
