The Chinese government has emphasized innovation as the primary driving force for economic development in the new *** paper studies the effect of import policy uncertainty(IPU)on the innovation activity of Chinese manufacturing *** establishes a simple model to show that the presence of IPU encourages innovation and that a reduction in IPU discourages *** distinguishes the almost unnoticed IPU reduction from tariff reduction on China's WTO accession and develops a novel difference-in-differences specification that identifies the negative effect of IPU reduction on innovation using updated data for Chinese manufacturing and patent *** result holds after a battery of identification assumptions and robustness checks are *** import channel explains about two thirds of the effect of IPU on innovation,but not all of the ***,this paper examines the effect across firms of different levels of productivity and ownership types and patents of different categories.

Peer Effects of Internet business Models:Strategic Drive or Conceptual Catering?

In recent years,the internet business model has become a popular concept,and has been adopted by an increasing number of traditional ***,the question remains whether this adoption is a strategy-driven decision or a blind follow of ***,this study is conducted on Chinese listed companies from 2007 to 2020 to examine the existence,underlying motives,and economic consequences of peer effects in traditional enterprises adopting internet business *** results show significant peer effects among traditional enterprises adopting internet business *** examination of driving mechanisms reveals that peer effects of internet business models are more significant in enterprises with asset-light structures,higher degrees of virtualization,lower market valuations,and greater financing pressure,supporting the conceptual catering hypothesis rather than the strategic drive *** tests reveal that while adopting internet business models enables enterprises to receive some government subsidy and market reaction in the short term,it only promotes tactical innovation rather than real innovation and does not improve the financial performance of these *** further indicates that peer effects of internet business models are not a strategic drive but rather a matter of conceptual catering.

Whether registration system reform(RSR)can curb administrative intervention and create a fair market environment has long been a concern in *** explore this issue from the perspective of the initial public offering(IPO)preference based on the entropy balancing method,and findings are as ***,an IPO ownership preference exists under approval *** is,state-owned enterprises(SOEs)are more likely than private enterprises to obtain IPO ***,RSR significantly changes this preference,especially for non-politically connected private ***,the post-IPO market performance of SOEs is inferior to that of private enterprises under approval system,thus excluding the view that approval is prioritized for SOEs because of superior ***,compared with SOEs,private enterprises are more likely to switch the issuance system from approval system to registration system;this change makes it easier for them to obtain IPO approval,indicating that private enterprise owners perceive the registration channel to be ***,the effect of RSR on IPO ownership preference mainly occurs in companies in three major urban agglomerations in China—the Pearl River Delta,the Yangtze River Delta,and the Beijing–Tian jin–Hebei region—and in technology-intensive ***,our findings reveal that RSR cultivates a fairer IPO approval process.

Industrial Carbon Reduction Potential Measurement and Scenario Prediction in Shaanxi Province

Promoting industrial carbon reduction is an inevitable step for achieving the Chinese carbon peak and neutrality *** on the industrial energy consumption data of Shaanxi Province from 2011 to 2020,this study uses the IPCC calculation method to calculate the industrial carbon emissions in Shaanxi *** prediction model for industrial carbon emissions in Shaanxi Province was constructed based on the STIRPAT model from three aspects:population,economy,and *** setting three scenario models,the industrial carbon emissions from 2021 to 2035 and the time to achieve peak carbon neutrality were then *** results show that the industry in Shaanxi Province cannot achieve a carbon peak under the baseline scenario,although it can achieve carbon peaking in 2030 under a low-carbon scenario or in 2025 under an enhanced low-carbon *** predicted carbon peak values are 209.11 million t and 188.36 million t,*** on the results of this study,four policy recommendations are proposed:(1)strengthen publicity and education efforts to increase public participation in energy conservation and emission reduction;(2)promote the green transformation of industry and develop a green economy,including the active development of energy-saving and emission reduction technologies;(3)accelerate the implementation of industrial carbon reduction;and(4)promote the development and utilization of clean energy and increase efforts to adjust the energy structure.

GMAT:A Graph Modeling Method for Group Preference Prediction

Preference prediction is the building block of personalized services,and its implementation at the group level helps enterprises identify their target customers *** methods for preference prediction mainly focus on behavioral interactions to extract the associations between groups and products,ignoring the importance of other auxiliary records(e.g.,online reviews and social tags)in association *** paper proposes a novel method named GMAT for group preference prediction,aiming to collectively detect the sophisticated association patterns from user generated content(UGC)and behavioral *** doing so,we construct a tripartite graph to collaborate these two types of data,and design a deep-learning algorithm with mutual attention module for generating the contextualized representations of groups and *** experiments on two real-world datasets show that GMAT is superior to other baselines in terms of group preference ***,GMAT is able to improve prediction accuracy compared with its different variants,further verifying the proposed method’s effectiveness on association pattern detection.

The interplay between financial technology(FinTech)and real economy firms has garnered considerable *** paper explores the relationship and mechanism between FinTech and corporate zombification using the data of Chinese A-share listed firms in China from 2011 to *** research findings reveal that FinTech significantly inhibits firm zombification,and FinTech breadth and depth both play a significant role in restraining firm *** exploration indicates that,on the one hand,FinTech reduces friction in the financial market,inhibiting firm zombification by improving firm investment efficiency,especially alleviating *** the other side,FinTech indirectly affects the technological investment,production,and operation of firms,thereby inhibiting firm zombification by increasing their total factor *** analysis suggests that the inhibitory effect of FinTech on corporate zombification is more pronounced for non-stateowned firms and small-sized firms,as well as those in manufacturing industries and highly competitive *** paper provides some novel evidence on evaluating the effect of FinTech on firms and also offers new insights for efficient governance of zombie firms.

Background:Though the COVID-19 pandemic recedes,and our society gradually returns to normal,Chinese people’s work and lifestyles are still influenced by the“pandemic aftermath”.In the post-pandemic era,employees may feel uncertainty at work due to the changed organizational operations and management and perceive the external environment to be more *** these perceptions may increase employees’negative emotions and contribute to conflicts between work and *** from the ego depletion theory,this study aimed to examine the impact of job insecurity during the post-pandemic era on employees’work-life conflicts,and the mediating effect of workplace anxiety in this ***,this study also considered the uncertainty of the external macro environment as a boundary condition on the direct and indirect relationship between job insecurity and work-life ***:A two-wave questionnaire survey was conducted from October to December 2023 to collect *** students and graduates from business school with full-time jobs are invited to report their perception of job insecurity,work anxiety,perceived environment uncertainty,and work-life *** resulted in 253 valid *** analysis was performed using the SPSS,Amos,and ***:The results showed that:(1)Employees’job insecurity would directly intensify the work-life conflict(B=0.275,p<0.001,95%CI[0.182,0.367]).(2)Employees’workplace anxiety mediates the relationship between job insecurity and work-life conflict(B=0.083,p<0.001,95%CI[0.047,0.130]).(3)The mediating effect of workplace anxiety between job insecurity and work-life conflict exists when perceived environmental uncertainty is high(B=0.049,95%CI[0.011,0.114]),while vanishes when perceived environmental uncertainty is low(B=0.024,95%CI[−0.005,0.068]).Conclusion:Job insecurity combined with perceived environmental uncertainty in the postpandemic era fuels employees’workplace anxiety and work-life ***-pan

The low efficiency and high cost of fresh agricultural product terminal distribution directly restrict the operation of the entire supply *** reduce costs and optimize the distribution network,we construct a mixed integer programmingmodel that comprehensively considers tominimize fixed,transportation,fresh-keeping,time,carbon emissions,and performance incentive *** analyzed the performance of traditional rider distribution and robot distribution modes in *** addition,the uncertainty of the actual market demand poses a huge threat to the stability of the terminal distribution *** order to resist uncertain interference,we further extend the model to a robust counterpart *** results of the simulation show that the instability of random parameters will lead to an increase in the *** with the traditional rider distribution mode,the robot distribution mode can save 12.7%on logistics costs,and the distribution efficiency is *** research can provide support for the design of planning schemes for transportation enterprise managers.

Spatial Structure of Peer Networks and Academic Achievement Based on a Random Control Trial Experiment

This paper investigates whether changing the seating arrangement in a classroom can facilitate positive spillovers from top-performing students to others,using a field experiment conducted in a Chinese high *** study groups with balanced abilities,the treatment altered the spatial distribution by assigning the two top students to seats in the spatial center of each *** the reference groups where students were allowed to choose their own seating arrangements,the lowest performing were significantly less likely to sit next to a top student than they would be under a random *** results suggest that,in the treated groups,there could be enhanced academic spillovers from the top *** treatment especially benefited the two lowest performing students in science *** contrast,the treatment exerted negative effects on the test scores of the two middle-performing students,due to a disruption *** results suggest that the spatial layout of a peer network can have a significant impact on learning outcomes.
