Two fullerene derivatives (compounds 1 and 2) have been synthesized. Their redox properties have been measured by cyclic voltammetry. The photoconductivities of poly(N_vinylcarbazo_le) (PVK) doped with fullerene and with their derivatives have been studied to explore the possible relationship between the reductibility of fullerenes and the photoconductivity of fullerenes_doped PVK. The charge generation efficiencies of PVK doped with fullerene and with its derivatives have changed remarkably: the diversity of charge generation efficiency is obvious in different doping systems. The result indicates that there is charge transfer between fullerenes and PVK.

Nanosecond time-resolved transient absorption spectra of pyrene-triphenylamine, pyrenediphenylamine, pyrene-N, N-dibenzylaniline systems in various solvents have been investigated. In nonpolar solvent, pyrene-triphenylamine exciplex and pyrene-N, N-dibenzylaniline exciplex were observed directly. In acetonitrile, the pyrene anion radical, triphenylamine and diphenylamine cation radicals were detected. On the basis of the present experimental facts, the mechanism of fluorescence quenching processes of pyrene in polar and nonpolar solvents has been established.

Cationic polymerizations of 1,3-pentadiene (PD) initiated by trimethylsilyl chloride (TMSCl) incombination with TiCl_4 were carried out in n-hexane at 30℃. The yield of polymer was greatly increased bythe addition of TMSCl, indicating that the TMSCl/TiCl_4 combination is an efficient initiating system for PDcationic polymerization. However, the introduction of TMSCl gave rise to a drop in the molecular weight ofthe polymer. Kinetic results demonstrated that the polymerization initiated by TMSCl/TiCl_4 is 4.5 times fasterthan that induced by TiCl_4 alone. Various ethers were used to mediate the TMSCl/TiCl_4 initiating *** diphenyl ether could increase both the yield and molecular weight of the polymer. Structural evidenceillustrates that the polymerization is indeed initiated by TiCl_4 in combination with HCl resulting fromhydrolysis by adventitious water.

Introducing heating function to oil sorbents opens up a new pathway to the fast cleanup of viscous crude oil spills in *** oil sorption speed increases with the rise of the temperature,thus oil sorbents with high heating temperature are ***,the oil sorbents also need to be produced *** we present carbonized melamine-formaldehyde sponges(CMSs)that exhibited superior heating performance and the CMSs could be massively fabricated through a non-polluting pyrolysis *** conductive CMSs could be heated over 300℃with a low applied voltage of 6.9 V and keep above 250℃for 30 min in the air without obvious *** high heating performance enabled heating up the oil spills with a high rate of 2.65℃·s^(-1) and 14%improvement of oil sorption coefficient compared with the state-of-the-art *** demonstrated that one joule-heated CMS could continuously and selectively collect viscous oil spills(9,010 mPa·s)690 times its own weight in one *** CMSs will be a highly competitive sorbent material for the fast remediation of future crude oil spills.

The title compound, N-(2-(1H-indol-3-yl)ethyl)-2-nitroaniline(C16H15N3O2, Mr = 281.31), has been synthesized by the multicomponent reaction of milder Ullmann, and its structure was characterized by 1H NMR, 13 C NMR, IR, H RMS(ESI) and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. It crystallizes in monoclinic, space group I2/c with a = 15.0212(10), b = 9.4911(6), c = 20.3075(13) A, β = 100.776(7)o, V = 2844.1(3)A3, Z = 8, Dc = 1.314 g/cm3, F(000) = 1184.0, μ = 0.089 mm-1, the final R = 0.0574 and w R = 0.1688 for 1701 observed reflections(I > 2σ(I)). X-ray analysis indicates three major N(2)–H(2)···O(2), C(13)–H(13)···O(2), N(2)–H(2)···N(3) hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking interactions in the crystal structure. The preliminary biological test shows that the title compound has a good antitumor activity against A549 in vitro with the IC50 value of 35 μmol/L.

Reciprocating friction and wear performances of pure ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylenes (UHMWPEs) with molecular weights (MWs) of 2, 3, 5, and 9 million and their modified UHMWPEs with 15 wt.% Cu(II) chelate of bissalicylaldehyde-ethylenediamine (add1) against titanium alloy (Ti6Al4V) were investigated under boundary lubrication with 25 vol.% calf serum deionized water solution. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) of purchased UHMWPE powders was performed. The enthalpy changed with an increase in MW. UH300 had the lowest temperature of an extrapolated peak and the best peak symmetry in DSC analysis. The friction coefficient curves of molded pure and modified UHMWPEs/Ti6Al4V were compared, and the volume loss by the wear of polymers was measured. 3D topographies of the worn surfaces of polymers and images of the worn surfaces of polymers and titanium alloy against polymers were analyzed by confocal white light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy, respectively. Results showed that the influence of MW of UHMWPE was obvious on the friction and wear characteristics of pure UHMWPEs and 15% add1 UHMWPEs. An MW of 3 million was the best to reduce the friction of rubbing pairs, enhance the wear resistance of pure UHMWPEs and 15% add1-UHMWPEs, and improve the mating properties of Ti6Al4V.

Thc grometries of hyperlithiated compounds OLi n were optimized by means of HF, MP2 and DFT methods with 6-31G· basis set. Thc dissociation energies of those optimized stable geometries of OLi n were calculated, the results are in good agreement with experimental values; and moreover, the dissociation energy of OLi6 is predicted. In addition, the fundamental vibrational frequencies were also predicted.
