For the first time,the mechanism of metal aluminum dissolution in NaF-ScF3eutectic melts and the chemical interaction between the constituents of this mixture have been thoroughly studied by a combination of differential thermal analysis（DTA）,high temperature and solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance（NMR）,and X-ray diffraction（XRD） coupled with the molecular dynamic simulations.The formation of an insoluble Al3Sc alloy in molten（NaF-ScF3）eutsystem was proven,and the chemical mechanism of this aluminothermic Al3Sc alloy production was elucidated.Corresponding ex situ examinations bring to light the formation of NaScF4and solid solution of Na3（Al,Sc）F6in cooled bath.The molecular dynamics calculations of the bath allow us to construct the structural model and to predict viscosity,density and electrical conductivity of the reagent melt to help to optimize the conditions of the alloy synthesis.

Virus-like particle(VLP) vaccines had shown great potential during the COVID-19 pandemic, and was thought to be the next generation of antiviral vaccine technology due to viromimetic structures. However,the time-consuming and complicated processes in establishing a current recombinant-protein–based VLP vaccine has limited its quick launch to the out-bursting pandemic. To simplify and optimize VLP vaccine design, we herein report a kind of viromimetic polymer nanoparticle vaccine(VPNVax), with subunit receptor-binding domain(RBD) proteins conjugated to the surface of polyethylene glycol-b-polylactic acid(PEG-b-PLA) nanoparticles for vaccination against SARS-CoV-2. The preparation of VPNVax based on synthetic polymer particle and chemical post-conjugation makes it possible to rapidly replace the antigens and construct matched vaccines at the emergence of different viruses. Using this modular preparation system, we identified that VPNVax with surface protein coverage of 20%–25% had the best immunostimulatory activity, which could keep high levels of specific antibody titers over 5 months and induce virus neutralizing activity when combined with an aluminum adjuvant. Moreover, the polymer nano-vectors could be armed with more immune-adjuvant functions by loading immunostimulant agents or chemical chirality design. This VPNVax platform provides a novel kind of rapidly producing and efficient vaccine against different variants of SARS-CoV-2 as well as other viral pandemics.

To realize large-scale hydrogen production by electrolysis of water,it is essential to develop non-precious metal catalysts for oxygen evolution reaction(OER)and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).Here,we fabricate Sn-,Fe-,and Co-based sulfide/oxyhydroxide heterostructural catalyst on nickel foam(FeSnCo_(0.2)S_(x)O_(y)/NF)by solvothermal method.The FeSnCo_(0.2)S_(x)O_(y)/NF requires low overpotentials of 48 and 186 mV at 10 mA·cm^(-2),respectively,for HER and OER.When it is assembled into an electrolytic cell as a bifunctional electrocatalyst,it only needs 1.54 V to reach 10 mA·cm^(-2),far better than IrO_(2)||Pt/C electrolyzer.The formation of sulfide/hydroxide heterostructural interfaces improves the electron transfer and reduces the reaction energy barrier,thus promoting the electrocatalytic processes.

Compositional evolution for mixed aerosols containing gluconic acid and typical nitrate and the effect of multiply factors on hygroscopicity

The aging process of atmospheric aerosols usually leads to a mixture of inorganic salts and organic compounds of anthropogenic origin.In organic compounds,polyhydroxy organic acids are important components,however,the study on composition and hygroscopic properties of the mixture containing inorganics and polyhydroxy organic acids is scanty.In this study,gluconic acid,the proxy of polyhydroxy organic acids,is mixed with the representative nitrate(Mg(NO_(3))_(2),Ca(NO_(3))_(2))to form aerosols.ATR-FTIR and optical microscopy are employed to study the component changes and hygroscopicity as a function of relative humidity.As relative humidity fluctuates,the FTIR-ATR spectra display that the internal mixed gluconic acid(CH_(2)(CH)_(4)(OH)_(5)COOH)and nitrate can react to release acidic gases,forming relevant gluconate and further affecting the hygroscopicity.The specific presentation is particles cannot be recovered to their original size after the dehydration-hydration process and there will be some disparities in GF for mixed particles.For the gluconic acid-Ca(NO_(3))_(2)/Mg(NO_(3))_(2)mixtures with molar ratios of 1:1,higher degree of reaction resulting in the production of large amounts of gluconate should be responsible to the lower hygroscopicity compared to ZSR model.For 1:2 gluconic acid-nitrate mixed systems(with higher nitrate content),the hygroscopicity of mixtures are higher than the ZSR prediction.A possible reason could be‘salt-promoting effect’on the organic fractions of the surplus inorganic salt in the mixture.These data can improve the chemical composition list evaluation,in turn hygroscopic properties and phase state of atmospheric aerosol,and then the climate effect.

Mounting evidence suggests that strategies combining DNA-damaging agents and stimulator of interferon genes(STING) agonists are promising cancer therapeutic regimens because they can amplify STING activation and remodel the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. However, a single molecular entity comprising both agents has not yet been developed. Herein, we designed two PtIV-MSA-2 conjugates(Ⅰand Ⅱ) containing the DNA-damaging chemotherapeutic drug cisplatin and the innate immuneactivating STING agonist MSA-2; these conjugates showed great potential as multispecific small-molecule drugs against pancreatic cancer. Mechanistic studies revealed that conjugate Ⅰ upregulated the expression of transcripts associated with innate immunity and metabolism in cancer cells, significantly differing from cisplatin and MSA-2. An analysis of the tumor microenvironment demonstrated that conjugate I could enhance the infiltration of natural killer(NK) cells into tumors and promote the activation of T cells, NK cells and dendritic cells in tumor tissues. These findings indicated that conjugate I, which was created by incorporating a Pt chemotherapeutic drug and STING agonist into one molecule, is a promising and potent anticancer drug candidate, opening new avenues for small-molecule-based cancer metalloimmunotherapy.

Tirapazamine（TPZ） has been approved for multiple clinical trials relying on its excellent anticancer potential.However,as a typical hypoxia-activated prodrug（HAP）,TPZ did not exhibit survival advantages in Phase Ⅲ clinical trials when used in combination therapy due to the insufficient hypoxia levels in patients' tumors.In this study,to improve the therapeutic effects of TPZ,we first introduced urea to synthesize a series of urea-containing derivatives of TPZ.All urea-containing TPZ derivatives showed increased hypoxic cytotoxicity（9.51-30.85-fold） compared with TPZ,while maintaining hypoxic selectivity.TPZP,one of these derivatives,showed 20-fold higher cytotoxicity than TPZ while maintaining a similar hypoxic cytotoxicity ratio.To highly efficiently deliver TPZP to the tumors and reduce its side effects on healthy tissues,we further prepared TPZP into a nanodrug with fibrin-targeting ability:FT11-TPZP-NPs.CA4-NPs,a vascular disrupting agent,was used to increase the fibrin level within tumors and exacerbate tumor hypoxia.By being combined with CA4-NPs,FT11-TPZP-NPs can accumulate in the hypoxia-aggravated tumors and activate sufficiently to kill tumor cells.After a single-dose treatment,FT11-TPZP-NPs+CA4-NPs showed a high inhibition rate of 98.1% against CT26 tumor models with an initial volume of ～480 mm3and four out of six tumors were completely eliminated;it thereby exerted a significant antitumor effect.This study provides a new strategy for improving the therapeutic effect of TPZ and other HAPs in anticancer therapy.

The fascinating chemical structure and broad application prospect of Keggin-type polyoxometalates(POMs)have attracted many chemists to explore and discover continuously.Unlike the traditional Keggin,larger metal atomic radius,higher metal coordinated numbers,lower metal valence states and other features allow the group IVB metal-based Keggin(IVB-Keggin)more space and unknown in terms of structure and performance.Herein,density functional theory(DFT)calculations were performed to explore the influences including cores,shells,caps,and terminal ligands,et al.on IVB-Keggin,and analyze the possibility of novel structure synthesis.From the perspective of multi-layer onion-like clusters,molecular energy level,host-guest interaction energy,surface charge and covalent bond polarity can be further adjusted to achieve the oriented design of functional IVB-Keggin.These insights are expected to provide theoretical support for experimental synthesis,opening a new perspective to understand the growth of Keggin.

Since the first report of sodium trifluoromethanesulfinate(CF_(3)SO_(2)Na) as an electrophilic trifluoromethylthiolation reagent in 2015,there has been no breakthrough in research in this field.Herein,we disclose an unprecedented usage of CF_(3)SO_(2)Na as a radical trifluoromethylthiolation reagent.A photocatalyzed ditrifluoromethylthiolation of alkenes with CF_(3)SO_(2)Na in the presence of PPh_(3) and catalytic copper has been developed.Interestingly,either Ir[(p-Fppy)_(2)(bpy)]PF_6 or Ir(ppy)_(3) could facilitate this transformation.Mechanistic studies indicate that initiation of the radical chain proceeded via two different photocatalytic quenching mechanisms.This protocol provides a practical method for the construction of diverse vicinal ditrifluoromethylthiolated compounds.

Three-dimensional(3D)printing and bioprinting have come into view for a plannable and standardizable generation of implantable tissue-engineered constructs that can substitute native tissues and organs.These tissue-engineered structures are intended to integrate with the patient’s body.Vascular tissue engineering(TE)is relevant in TE because it supports the sustained oxygenization and nutrition of all tissue-engineered constructs.Bioinks have a specific role,representingthenecessarymedium for printability and vascular cell growth.This review aims to understand the requirements for the design of vascular bioinks.First,an in-depth analysis of vascular cell interaction with their native environment must be gained.A physiological bioink suitable for a tissue-engineered vascular graft(TEVG)must not only ensure good printability but also induce cells to behave like in a native vascular vessel,including self-regenerative and growth functions.This review describes the general structure of vascular walls with wall-speciﬁc cell and extracellular matrix(ECM)components and biomechanical properties and functions.Furthermore,the physiological role of vascular ECM components for their interaction with vascular cells and the mode of interaction is introduced.Diverse currently available or imaginable bioinks are described from physiological matrix proteins to nonphysiologically occurring but natural chemical compounds useful for vascular bioprinting.The physiological performance of these bioinks is evaluated with regard to biomechanical properties postprinting,with a view to current animal studies of 3D printed vascular structures.Finally,the main challenges for further bioink development,suitable bioink components to create a self-assembly bioink concept,and future bioprinting strategies are outlined.These concepts are discussed in terms of their suitability to be part of a TEVG with a high potential for later clinical use.
