This paper presents a meta-synthesis conducted to identify,compare and synthesize published qualitative data related to the Maggie’s Centres,as a paradigmatic architectural example in the provision of non-institutional cancer *** centres are internationally renowned for their unique architecture,where the careful design of indoors and outdoors spaces plays a critical role in their agenda for supporting *** research has thoroughly analysed this approach to therapeutic environments,not only confirming the importance of designed space as originally conceived in Maggie’s philosophy but also identifying precise supporting effects associated with specific elements within their *** paper aims to provide a new reading of Maggie’s contribution to cancer support by offering an examination of all these data through the lens of biophilia,which clarifies the impact of design decisions connected to nature on cancer patients’*** analytic process included a systematic search strategy,extraction and classification of salient concepts using an opencoding approach,and lastly an interpretive *** systematically selected data helped to identify and rank the biophilic design parameters that appear the most critical for promoting and supporting human health and wellbeing in non-clinical therapeutic environments,from the user’s *** also provided a compilation of distinctive design interventions related to biophilic parameters,which provides benchmark information for future research and design guidance in these environments.

Organic coatings are widely used to control the corrosion of steel structure. The anticorrosive property of these coatings depends on their barrier properties, making a separation between the corrosive medium and the substrate. But unavoidable completely small pores, cracks and other defects in organic coatings may cause ions, water, gases, and other corrosive species penetrate and distribute in the coatings, causing accumulation and swelling of coatings, so leading to the degradation of coatings. In addition, water affects the permeation of oxygen and other corrosive medium, consequently the presence of such substances at coating-metal interface promotes corrosion of metal substrate. So the absorbability of the coatings to water may be one of the most important factors in undercoating corrosion. In recent years, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) has been established and frequently used as a non-destructive testing method for assessing the performance of organic coatings, especially for the determination of the water content in organic coatings, since the capacitance of the coatings is sensitive to the penetration of water. So from EIS it can extract a wealth of information on the electrochemical corrosion of coated steels, especially, it can be utilized to assess organic coatings used under particular surroundings. The principle, methods and application of EIS on evaluating life-span and analyzing failure mechanism of organic coatings are also introduced briefly. Combining other analysis techniques such as XRD, SEM and FTIR with electrochemical technique, it will blaze a way in studying degradation mechanism of organic coatings and estimating their lifetime.

By the increase in Mo content,the addition of microalloying elements V and Nb and by reducing the contents of Mn,P and S based on the composition of steel 42 CrMo,we have developed a 1 300 MPa-grade high strength steel(ADF1)for *** sustained load bending test,sustained load tensile test and stress corrosion cracking test have been carried out to evaluate the delayed fracture resistance of steel ADFl and commercial steel 42 *** results showed that steel ADF1 has superior delayed fracture resistance to that of 42 CrMo ***'s concluded that the superior delayed fracture resistance of ADF1 is mainly due to the increase of tempering temperature,fine homogeneously distributed MC carbide and fine prior austenite grain size.

Optimal plot design in a multipurpose forest inventory

Background： We explore the factors affecting the optimal plot design （size and type as well as the subsample tree selection strategies within a plot） and their relative importance in defining the optimal plot design in amultipurpose forest inventory. The factors include time used to lay out the plot and to make the tree measurements within the plot, the between-plot variation of each of the variables of interest in the area, and the measurement and model errors for the different variables. Methods： We simulate different plot types and sizes and subsample tree selection strategies on measuredtest areas from North Lapland. The plot types used are fixed-radius, concentric and relascope plots. Weselect the optimal type and size first at plot level using a cost-plus-loss approach and then at cluster level byminimizing the weighted standard error with fixed budget. Results： As relascope plots are ve~/efficient at the plot level for volume and basal area, and fixed-radius plots for stems per ha, the optimal plot type strongly depends on the relative importance of these variables. The concentric plot seems to be a good compromise between these two in many cases. The subsample tree selection strategy was more important in selecting optimal plot than many other factors. In cluster level, the most important factor is the transfer time between plots. Conclusions： While the optimal radius of plots and other parameters were sensitive to the measurement times and other cost factors, the concentric plot type was optimal in almost all studied cases. Subsample tree measurement strategies need further studies, as they were an important cost factor. However, their importance to the precision was not as clear.

The delayed fracture behaviors of CrMo-type high strength steels containing different amount of titanium(0to 0.10%)were *** steels were quenched at 880℃ and tempered from 400℃ to 650℃,and a wide range of tensile strength was *** sustained load tensile test was carried out by using notched tensile specimens in Walpole *** experimental results showed that with higher strength,the Ti-microalloyed steels show higher resistance to delayed fracture compared with non-microalloyed steel due to titanium beneficial role and microstructure *** undissolved TiC is uniformly distributed as strong hydrogen traps,retarding or preventing the diffusion and accumulation of hydrogen to lower-interaction energy sites,such as prior austenite and martensite lath boundaries in stress concentration ***,the grain refining effect of titanium is also an important factor to improve the delayed fracture resistance of Ti-microalloyed *** characteristics of delayed fracture remain nearly the same with titanium addition.

In this study,a storm surge model of the semi-enclosed Tokyo Bay was constructed to investigate its hydrodynamic response to major typhoon parameters,such as the point of landfall,approach angle,forward speed,size,and *** typhoon simulation was validated for Typhoon Lan in 2017,and 31 hypothetical storm surge scenarios were generated to establish the sensitivity of peak surge height to the variation in typhoon *** maximum storm surge height in the upper bay adjacent to the Tokyo Metropolitan Area was found to be highly sensitive to the forward speed and size of the passing ***,the importance of these parameters in disaster risk reduction has been largely overlooked by researchers and disaster *** was also determined that of the many hypothetical typhoon tracks evaluated,the slow passage of a large and intense typhoon transiting parallel to the longitudinal axis of Tokyo Bay,making landfall 25 km southwest,is most likely to cause a hazardous storm surge scenario in the upper-bay *** results of this study are expected to be useful to disaster managers for advanced preparation against destructive storm surges.

The risk of wind waves in a bay is often overlooked,owing to the belief that peninsulas and islands will inhibit high ***,during the passage of a tropical cyclone,a semi-enclosed bay is exposed to twodirectional waves:one generated inside the bay and the other propagated from the outer *** Faxai in 2019 resulted in the worst coastal disaster in Tokyo Bay in the last few *** authors conducted a post-disaster survey immediately after this *** modeling was also performed to reveal the mechanisms of unusual high *** significant high-wave damage occurred on coasts facing the Pacific *** contrast,Fukuura-Yokohama,which faces Tokyo Bay,suffered overtopping waves that collapsed *** precisely reproduce multi-directional waves,the authors developed an extended parametric typhoon model,which was embedded in the JMA mesoscale meteorological model(JMA-MSM).The peak wave height was estimated to be 3.4 m off the coast of Fukuura,in which the contribution of the outer-sea waves was as low as 10%–20%.A fetchlimited wave developed over a short distance in the bay is considered the primary mechanism of the high *** maximum wave occurred on the left-hand side of the typhoon track in the bay,which appears to be contrary to the common understanding that it is safer within the semicircle of a storm than on the opposite *** Faxai was a small typhoon;however,if the radius was tripled,it is estimated that the wave height would exceed 3 m over the entire bay and surpass 4 m off the coasts of Yokohama and Chiba.

Background:Measuring the size of the infectious pool of tuberculosis(TB)is essential to understand the burden and monitor trends of TB control program *** study applied the concept of TB management time to estimate and compare the size of the TB infectious pool between 2009 and 2014 in West Gojjam Zone of Amhara Region,***:New sputum smear-positive and smear-negative pulmonary TB(PTB)and retreatment cases who attended 30 randomly selected public health facilities in West Gojjam Zone from October 2013 to October 2014 were consecutively enrolled in the *** order to determine the infectious period,the TB management time(number of days from the onset of cough until start of anti-TB treatment)was computed for each patient *** number of undiagnosed TB cases was estimated and hence the TB management time for the undiagnosed category was *** total size of the TB infectious pool during the study period for the study zone was estimated as the annual number of infectious person ***:New smear-positive and smear-negative PTB cases contributed 25,050 and 12,931 infectious person days per year to the TB infectious pool,*** retreatment and presently undiagnosed cases contributed 8840 and 34,310 infectious person days per year,*** total size of the TB infectious pool in West Gojjam Zone during the study period was estimated at 81,131 infectious person days per year or 3405 infectious person days per 100,000 population per *** to a similar study done in 2009 in the study area,the current study showed reduction of the TB infectious pool by 244,279 infectious person ***:TB management time is a simple and practical tool that may help to estimate and compare the changes in the size of the TB infectious pool at local *** may also be used as an indicator to monitor the changes in TB control program performance.
