Metaoptics formed by ultrathin and planar building blocks enable compact and efficient optical devices that manipulate light at the nanoscale. The development of tunable metaoptics holds the promise of miniaturized and efficient optical systems that can dynamically adapt to changing conditions or requirements,propelling innovations in fields ranging from telecommunication and imaging to quantum computing and sensing. Two-dimensional(2D) materials show strong promise in enabling tunable metaoptics due to their exceptional electronic and optical properties from the quantum confinement within the atomically thin layers. In this review, we discuss the recent advancements and challenges of 2D material-based tunable metaoptics in both linear and nonlinear regimes and provide an outlook for prospects in this rapidly advancing area.

Magnetic holes are magnetic depression structures that exist widely in many plasma *** magnetic holes with durations of>1 s in the solar wind at Mercury’s orbit have drawn much attention,but the properties of the magnetic holes with shorter durations are still ***,we investigate the magnetic holes with durations of 0.1-100 s in the upstream region of Mercury’s bow shock based on observations by the MESSENGER(MErcury Surface,Space ENvironment,GEochemistry,and Ranging)*** can be divided into two groups according to the distribution of their duration:small-duration magnetic holes(SDMHs,0.6 s).The duration of each group approximately obeys a log-normal distribution with a median of~0.25 s and 3 s,*** 1.7%(32.6%)of the SDMHs(LDMHs)reduce the magnetic field strength by more than 50%.For both groups,some structures have a linear or quasi-linear polarization,whereas others have an elliptical *** magnetic hole events in both groups tend to have a higher rate of occurrence when the interplanetary magnetic field strength is *** occurrence rates are also affected by Mercury’s foreshock,which can increase(decrease)the occurrence rate of the SDMHs(LDMHs).This finding suggests that Mercury’s foreshock might be one source of the SDMHs and that the foreshock can destroy some *** observations suggest that a new group of magnetic holes with durations of<0.6 s exist in the upstream region of Mercury’s bow shock.

Aiming at the practical application of Unmanned Underwater Vehicle(UUV)in underwater combat,this paper proposes a battlefield ambush scene with UUV considering ocean ***,by establishing these mathematical models of ocean current environment,target movement,and sonar detection,the probability calculation methods of single UUV searching target and multiple UUV cooperatively searching target are given ***,based on the Hybrid Quantum-behaved Particle Swarm Optimization(HQPSO)algorithm,the path with the highest target search probability is ***,through simulation calculations,the influence of different UUV parameters and target parameters on the target search probability is analyzed,and the minimum number of UUVs that need to be deployed to complete the ambush task is demonstrated,and the optimal search path scheme is *** method proposed in this paper provides a theoretical basis for the practical application of UUV in the future combat.

Uncovering the dominant contribution of intermediate volatility compounds in secondary organic aerosol formation from biomass-burning emissions

Organic vapors from biomass burning are a major source of secondary organic aerosols(SOAs). Previous smog chamber studies found that the SOA contributors in biomass-burning emissions are mainly volatile organic compounds(VOCs). While intermediate volatility organic compounds(IVOCs) are efficient SOA precursors and contribute a considerable fraction of biomass-burning emissions, their contribution to SOA formation has not been directly observed. Here, by deploying a newly-developed oxidation flow reactor to study SOA formation from wood burning, we find that IVOCs can contribute ～70% of the formed SOA, i.e.>2 times more than VOCs. This previously missing SOA fraction is interpreted to be due to the high wall losses of semi-volatile oxidation products of IVOCs in smog chambers. The finding in this study reveals that SOA production from biomass burning is much higher than previously thought, and highlights the urgent need for more research on the IVOCs from biomass burning and potentially other emission sources.

High-probability ground motion simulation in Maduo County for the Maduo M7.4 earthquake in 2021: A possible supershear earthquake

On May 22， 2021， an Ms7.4 earthquake occurred in Maduo County， Qinghai Province， on the western plateau of China. The level of seismic monitoring in this area was inadequate， and incomplete seismic waveforms were obtained from a few broadband seismometers located within 300 km of the epicentre. All waveforms showed "truncation" phenomena. The waveforms of earthquakes can guide ground motion inputs in near-fault areas. This paper uses the empirical Green's function method to consider the uncertainties in source parameters and source rupture processes by synthesizing high-probability， accurate waveforms in Maduo County （MAD station） near the epicentre. The acceleration waveform at the DAW strong-motion station， located 176 km from the epicentre， is first synthesized with the observed waveform of the mainshock. This critical step not only provides a more accurate source and rupture model of the Maduo earthquake but also establishes an essential reference standard. Secondly， the inferred models are rigorously applied to synthesize the acceleration waveform of the MAD station， ensuring that the results maintain a high accuracy and probability. The findings suggest that （1） the simulated acceleration waveform for the MAD station can better characterize the actual ground motion characteristics of the Ms7.4 earthquake in Maduo County， with high accuracy and probability in peak ground acceleration （Abbreviated as PGA） ranges of 140–240 cm/s2and 350–390 cm/s2， respectively， and （2） the Ms7.4 earthquake did not undergo a complete supershear rupture process. The first asperity located on the east side of the epicentre is most likely to undergo supershear rupture. However， the Maduo earthquake may have been a complete subshear rupture. （3） The fault dislocation model of the three-asperity model better matches the actual source rupture process of the Maduo earthquake. This method can provide relatively accurate acceleration waveforms for regions with limited earthquake monitoring

Multifunctional metastructure integrated broadband microwave absorption and effective mechanical resistance has attracted much attention. However, multifunctional performance is limited by the lack of theoretical approaches to integrated design. Herein, a multi-layer impedance gradient honeycomb(MIGH) was designed through theoretical analysis and simulation calculation, and fabricated using 3D printing technique. A theoretical calculation strategy for impedance gradient structure was established based on the electromagnetic parameter equivalent method and the multi-layer finite iterative method. The impedance of MIGH was analyzed by the theoretical calculation strategy to resolve the broadband absorption. Intrinsic loss mechanism of matrix materials and distributions of electric fields, magnetic fields and power loss were analyzed to investigate the absorption mechanism. Experimental results indicated that a 15 mm thick designed metastructure can achieve the absorption more than 88.9% in the frequency range of 2-18 GHz. Moreover, equivalent mechanical parameters of MIGH was calculated by integral method according to the Y-shaped model. Finite Element analysis of stress distributions were carried out to predict the deformation behavior. Mechanical tests demonstrate that MIGH achieved the compression modulus of 22.89 MPa and flexure modulus of 17.05 MPa. The integration of broadband electromagnetic absorption and effective mechanical resistance was achieved by the proposed design principle and fabrication methodology.
