In recent years,the need for the capability of decelerating the ripening process has increased significantly,especially in countries such as India where the post-harvest loss is∼630 billion dollars *** ripening process primarily starts with transpiration and respiration through microscopic pores present on the ***,edible coatings can act as barriers,reducing the acceleration of these biochemical processes and enhance the shelf-life of the *** this study,2%chitosan enriched with peel extracts from Citrus limon and leaf extracts from Ocimum tenuiflorum were used as an edible coating and the quality of bananas was evaluated over *** ripening process was found to be delayed for a significant amount of *** study also revealed increased anti-oxidant activity based on absorbance changes of 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl,which correlated with the phytochemical content of the fruit.

Graphene has afforded an ideal 2D platform for investigating a rich and fascinating behavior of Dirac ***,we develop a theoretical mechanism for manipulating the Dirac fermions in graphene,such as from type- Ⅰ to type-Ⅱ and type-Ⅲ,by a top-down nanopatterning *** demonstrate that by selective chemical adsorption to pattern the 2D graphene into coupled 1D armchair chains(ACs),the intrinsic isotropic upright Dirac cone becomes anisotropic and strongly *** on model analyses and first-principles calculations,we show that both the shape and tilt of Dirac cone can be tuned by the species of chemisorption,e.g.,halogen vs hydrogen,which modifies the strength of inter-AC ***,the topological edge states and transport properties of the engineered Dirac fermions are *** work sheds lights on understanding the Dirac fermions in a nanopatterned graphene platform,and provides guidance for designing nanostructures with novel functionality.

Two-dimensional(2D)superconducting states have attracted much recent interest,especially when they coexist with nontrivial band topology which affords a promising approach towards Majorana *** first-principles calculations,we predict van der Waals monolayered transition-metal monohalides MX(M=Zr,Mo;X=F,Cl)as a class of 2D superconductors with remarkable transition temperature(5.9–12.4 K).Anisotropic Migdal-Eliashberg theory reveals that ZrCl have a single superconducting gap∆~2.14 meV,while MoCl is a two-gap superconductor with∆~1.96 and 1.37 *** Z_(2)band topology of 2D MX is further demonstrated that MoF and MoCl are candidates for realizing topological ***,the Dirac phonons of ZrCl and MoCl contribute w-shape phononic edge states,which are potential for an edge-enhanced electron-phonon *** findings demonstrate that 2D MX offers an attractive platform for exploring the interplay between superconductivity,nontrivial electronic and phononic topology.

Building damage assessment is of great significance to disaster *** Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR)can record the polarization scattering measurement matrix of ground objects and obtain more abundant ground object information,meaning that they can be used for assessing damage to *** this paper,a new approach is proposed to assess building damage using the Touzi incoherent decomposition and SAR-based characteristics of buildings before and after *** March 11th,2011 earthquake that struck the coast of northeast Japan serves as the demonstration of the technique using quad-polarimetric ALOS PALSAR data acquired before and after the *** analysis shows that after the buildings are damaged,there is a clear decrease in theαs1(the dominant scattering-type magnitude)components and the degree of this reduction corresponds to the degree of building *** means that theαs1 components obtained by Touzi decomposition can effectively reflect the degree of building *** this basis,a model based on Touzi decomposition was established to evaluate the degree of damage to buildings,and the accuracy of the model was validated using high-resolution optical data acquired before and after the *** experimental results show that Touzi decomposition can be effectively used for damage assessment mapping in built-up areas.

The disease coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)is a severe respiratory illness that has emerged as a devastating health problem *** disease outcome is heterogeneous,and severity is likely dependent on the immunity of infected individuals and *** symptoms of the disease are primarily associated with respiratory problems,additional infection or failure of other vital organs are being *** reports suggest a quite common co-existence of gastrointestinal(GI)tract symptoms in addition to respiratory symptoms in many COVID-19 patients,and some patients show just the GI *** possible cause of the GI symptoms could be due to direct infection of the epithelial cells of the gut,which is supported by the fact that(1)The intestinal epithelium expresses a high level of angiotensin-converting enzyme-2 and transmembrane protease serine 2 protein that are required for the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)entry into the cells;(2)About half of the severe COVID-19 patients show viral RNA in their feces and various parts of the GI tract;and(3)SARS-CoV-2 can directly infect gut epithelial cells in vitro(gut epithelial cells and organoids)and in vivo(rhesus monkey).The GI tract seems to be a site of active innate and adaptive immune responses to SARS-CoV-2 as clinically,stool samples of COVID-19 patients possess proinflammatory cytokines(interleukin 8),calprotectin(neutrophils activity),and immunoglobulin A *** addition to direct immune activation by the virus,impairment of GI epithelium integrity can evoke immune response under the influence of systemic cytokines,hypoxia,and changes in gut microbiota(dysbiosis)due to infection of the respiratory system,which is confirmed by the observation that not all of the GI symptomatic patients are viral RNA *** review comprehensively summarizes the possible GI immunomodulation by SARS-CoV-2 that could lead to GI symptoms,their association with disease sev
