X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) is a crucial surface analysis technique that has become a key tool in the study of heterogeneous catalysis. Detecting surface chemistry under conditions that closely mimic actual industrial catalytic processes is essential for understanding the mechanisms involved. In the past decade, near ambient pressure X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(NAP-XPS) has been increasingly utilized to study the surface chemistry of catalysts during heterogeneous catalytic processes, offering insights into structure-performance correlations. This review begins with a brief overview of NAP-XPS instrumentation. Next, we discuss the application of NAP-XPS in the study of thermal catalysis reactions, followed by a summary of the research on catalyst restructuring under reaction conditions. Additionally, we address the challenges and future perspectives for the development and application of NAP-XPS. Catalysis is inherently dynamic, requiring an understanding of the real-time behavior of catalysts under varying conditions. Therefore, future improvements in the ability to probe reaction intermediates with higher spatial and temporal resolution under conditions that closely mimic industrial environments are needed.

Pinelliae Rhizoma(PR), known as Banxia in Chinese, Hange in Japanese, and Banha in Korean,is a renowned herbal medicine in East Asia derived from the dry tuber of Pinellia ternata(Thunb.) Breit.(PT). It is extensively utilized in dispensing granules, classical prescriptions,and herbal formulas to treat various conditions, including cough, infection, phlegm, nausea,asthma, and inflammation. Despite numerous studies on PR and its classical prescriptions over recent decades, a comprehensive synthesis of available evidence regarding its multifunctional roles and therapeutic potential is lacking. This review aims to address this gap by examining emerging evidence from metabonomics, preclinical studies, and clinical trials, while exploring potential trends and prospects for future research. A systematic literature search was conducted across six electronic databases, including Pub Med, Web of Science, Scopus,Science Direct, Wanfang, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure, to identify relevant articles on PR published until March 2023. PR contains 107 compounds with diverse pharmacological activities, including anti-inflammatory, immune regulatory, anti-viral, anti-cancer,anti-asthma, antitussive and expectorant, antioxidant, anti-obesity, anti-atherosclerosis, antimicrobial, emetic and anti-emetic, anti-convulsant and anti-epileptic, sedative and hypnotic,learning and memory enhancement, and anti-depressant effects. Metabonomic studies suggest that raw PR may exhibit cardiotoxicity and pregnancy toxicity while showing no apparent hepatorenal toxicity. However, limited pharmacokinetic investigations on PR constrain its clinical translation. Furthermore, clinical safety data on PR is scarce, with only four clinical trials assessing its positive effects in pediatric epilepsy, nausea and vomiting, soft tissue injury, and chronic sinus tract. Stakeholder Roles and Relations in Forest Management around the Boumba-Bek National Park, South East Cameroon

This study, which took place around the Boumba-Bek National Park (BBNP) in Cameroon, was based on identifying and characterizing stakeholders in forest resources management, as well as determining the relationships between them, with the goal of encouraging collaborative forest resources management. Purposive sampling was adopted, in which focus group discussions, key informant interviews, semi-structured interviews, and snowball sampling were used for data collection. Focus group discussions were conducted with a total of 20 local associations involved in forest and wildlife management, Bantu traditional councils and the Baka community. Key informant interviews were conducted with local and international NGOs, forest exploitation and Sport hunting (Safari) enterprises and local public administrations that had working rapports with village communities around the BBNP. Information was generally sought on the role of stakeholders in forest management, in terms of use, protection, policy enforcement, challenges encountered in their activities and their relationships with other stakeholders. Actor linkage matrix was used to establish the relationships between different stakeholders. The identified stakeholder groups included the local community, State, international and local NGOs, economic operators (forest exploitation and sport hunting enterprises), and also the rules guiding their activities. Conflicts were rife between the community and the other stakeholders with regard to resource accessibility and use, whereas intra-community conflicts mostly resulted from cases of corruption and embezzlement linked to benefits sharing. Cases of collaboration among all the stakeholders were mostly related to anti-poaching patrols and setting of forest concession limits. Studying the spatiotemporal variation and driving mechanisms of vegetation net primary productivity(NPP)in the Guanzhong Plain Urban Agglomeration(GPUA)of China is highly important for regional green and low-carbon *** study used the Theil-Sen trend analysis,Mann-Kendall trend test,coefficient of variation,Hurst index,and machine learning method(eXtreme Gradient Boosting and SHapley Additive exPlanations(XGBoost-SHAP))to analyze the spatiotemporal variation of NPP in the GPUA from 2001 to 2020 and reveal its response to climate change and human *** results found that during 2001-2020,the averageNPP in the GPUA showed a significant upward trend,with an annual growth rate of 10.84 g C/(m^(2)•a).The multi-year average NPP in the GPUA was 484.83 g C/(m^(2)•a),with higher values in the southwestern Qinling Mountains and lower values in the central and northeastern cropland and built-up *** average coefficient of variation of NPP in the GPUA was 0.14,indicating a relatively stable state overall,but 72.72%of the study area showed weak anti-persistence,suggesting that NPP in most areas may have declined in the short *** to XGBoost-SHAP analyses,elevation,land use type and precipitation were identified as the main driving factors of *** precipitation and higher temperatures promote NPP growth,whereas extreme climates,high population density,and nighttime lighting inhibit *** study has important theoretical and practical significance for achieving regional sustainable development,offers a scientific basis for formulating effective ecological protection and restoration strategies,and promotes green,coordinated,and sustainable development in the GPUA.
