A pulse generator with a voltage rise time of～1.5 ns and voltage amplitude variable from 30 kV to 200 kV was designed for generating runaway electron beams in atmospheric pressure air with different interelectrode *** influence of the voltage amplitude and gap length on the generation was *** the gas diode geometry under study,the gap voltage at which the generation of a runaway electron beam begins was *** the voltage pulse amplitude does not increase the beam current pulse width measured with a time resolution of～0.1 *** is shown that the escape of beam electrons to the downstream of the foil is sync in time with the voltage drop across the gap,and that the delay of beam current generation increases gradually from 1.1 ns to 2.6 ns as the voltage pulse amplitude across the gap decreases from～100 kV to 40 kV.

Reconstruction of periods and sources of continental arc magmatism provides critical insights for deciphering the thermal evolution and geodynamics of the continental lithosphere and unveiling subduction-related episodes of accretion and *** Dunhuang Block,located in the southern Central Asian Orogenic Belt,is built upon a Precambrian metamorphic crystalline basement that is intruded by numerous Paleozoic *** this paper,we present new zircon U-Pb ages,wholerock geochemistry and Sr-Nd-Pb-Hf isotopes from the Hanxiakouzi and Shuangta granodiorite plutons outcropped in the central and northern Dunhuang Block,*** U-Pb zircon dating indicate that the Hanxiakouzi and Shuangta granodiorites were emplaced at ca.366–363 Ma,i.e.,in the late ***,the Hanxiakouzi granodiorites are medium-to high-K,I-type granites possessing high Sr and Sr/Y,i.e.,similar to *** Hanxiakouzi granodiorites show negativeε_(Nd)(t)values(-8.2 to-6.6),significant positive eHf(t)values(+0.7 to+8.1),and evolved Pb isotope features suggesting their derivation by melting of subducted terrigenous sediments,interaction of melts with mantle peridotite,and assimilation of ancient crust during magma *** Shuangta granodiorites belong to high-K calc-alkaline I-type granites with medium Sr and low Sr/*** Shuangta granodiorites yield negativeε_(Nd)(t)values(-2.9 to-3.1)and negative to positive zircon eHf(t)values(-1.8 to+3.6),suggesting their formation by partial melting of ancient mafic crust with addition of minor mantle-derived melt and subducted terrigenous *** general,Hf-in-zircon isotopes characteristics of the late Paleozoic granitic rocks in the Dunhuang Block indicate that the southern Dunhuang area carries more ancient crust materials than the central and northern Dunhuang areas,indicating a lateral heterogeneity of the middle Paleozoic ***,the middle Paleozoic granitoids of the Dunhuang Block were emplaced at an ac

High-quality Bi2Se3 microcrystals were grown by the physical vapor transport （PVT） method without using a foreign transport agent. The microplate crystals grown under the optimal temperature gradient are well faceted and have dimensions up to -200 μm, The growth proceeds by the layer-by-layer mecha- nism with the formation of flat low-growth rate facets. The phase composition of the grown crystals was identified by the X-ray single crystal structure analysis in space group R3m, a = 4.1356（3）, C= 28.634（5）A, Z=3 （R=0.0147）. The most probable twin planes in the tetradymite structure were evaluated by the pseudo translational sublattice merhad.

Auxin is a key hormone performing a wealth of functions throughout the life cycle of plants. It acts largely by regulating genes at the transcriptional level through a family of transcription factors called auxin response factors (ARFs). Even though all ARF monomers analyzed so far bind a similar DNA sequence, there is evidence that ARFs differ in their target genomic regions and regulated genes. Here, we report the use of position weight matrices (PWMs) to model ARF DNA binding specificity based on published DNA affinity purification sequencing (DAP-seq) data. We found that the genome binding of two ARFs (ARF2 and ARF5/ Monopteros [MP]) differ largely because these two factors have different preferred ARF binding site (ARFbs) arrangements (orientation and spacing). We illustrated why PWMs are more versatile to reliably identify ARFbs than the widely used consensus sequences and demonstrated their power with biochemical experiments in the identification of the regulatory regions o1IAA19, an well-characterized auxin-responsive gene. Finally, we combined gene regulation by auxin with ARF-bound regions and identified specific ARFbs configurations that are over-represented in auxin-upregulated genes, thus deciphering the ARFbs syntax functional for regulation. Our study provides a general method to exploit the potential of genome-wide DNA binding assays and to decode gene regulation.

Spin States of 2D Nanocomposites of Ni and V Nanoclusters on Hexagonal h-BN, BC_3 and Graphene

Atomic and electronic structures of adsorbed nickel and vanadium atoms and nanoclusters （Nin and Vn, n = 1-10） on hexagonal h-BN and BC3 lattices were studied using DFT PBE/PBC/PW （Perdew-Burke- Ernzerhof potential of density functional theory/periodic boundary conditions/plane wave basis set） technique. For the sake of comparison the structure and properties of the same nanoclusters deposited on pristine graphene were calculated as well. It was found that for all types of supports an increase of n from 1 to 10 leaded to decrease of coordination types from 776 to r/2 and 771. The h-BN- and BC3-based nanocomposites were characterized by high （up to 18 μ for Ni10/BC3） magnetic moments of the nanoclusters and featured by positive binding energies. The graphene-based nanocomposites revealed energetic stability and, in general, lower magnetic moments per unit cell. The direct potential energy barriers for migration of Ni η2/η21 and η6/η6 types of dimers on graphene were low （10.9-28.9 kJ/mol） with high reverse barriers for η6/η6 dimers, which favored dynamically equilibrated Ni clusterization on graphene.

Siberia and the Russian Far East contain about 75% of the country's hydrocarbon and mineral resources. These regions pose many engineering and environmental problems for economic development due to the cold climate and difficult geologic conditions, including the occurrence of permafrost. One of the major challenges in permafrost areas is to maintain the stability of both individual structures and large-scale engineering projects. The use of natural cryogenic resources of the Earth is proposed here as one possible solution.
