Influenced by rapid changes in climate and landscape features since the Miocene,widely distributed species provide suitable models to study the environmental impact on their evolution and current genetic *** dice snake Natrix tessellata,widely distributed in the Western Palearctic is one such *** aimed to resolve a detailed phylogeography of *** with a focus on the Central Asian clade with 4 and the Anatolia clade with 3 mitochondrial lineages,trace their origin,and correlate the environmental changes that affected their distribution through *** expected time of divergence of both clades began at 3.7 Mya in the Pliocene,reaching lineage differentiation approximately 1 million years *** genetic diversity in both clades is rich,suggesting different ancestral areas,glacial refugia,demographic changes,and colonization *** Caspian lineage is the most widespread lineage in Central Asia,distributed around the Caspian Sea and reaching the foothills of the Hindu Kush Mountains in Afghanistan,and Eastern European lowlands in the *** distribution is limited by deserts,moun-tains,and cold steppe ***,Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan lineages followed the Amu Darya and the Syr Darya water systems in Central Asia,with ranges delimited by the large Kyzylkum and Karakum *** the western side,there are several lineages within the Anatolia clade that converged in the central part of the peninsula with 2 being endemic to Western *** distribution of both main clades was affected by expansion from their Pleistocene glacial refugia around the Caspian Sea and in the valleys of Central Asia as well as by environmental changes,mostly through aridification.

A repertoire of intronic lariat RNAs reveals tissue-specific regulation and target mimicry potential in plants

Lariat RNA is concomitantly produced by excised intron during RNA splicing,which is usually debranched by DBR1,an RNA debranching ***,increasing evidence showed that some lariat RNA could escape *** is known about how and why these lariat RNAs could be *** comparing the atlas of lariat RNAs between the non-dividing cell(mature pollen)and three actively dividing tissues(young shoot apex,young seeds,and young roots),we identified hundreds to thousands of lariat RNA naturally retained in each tissue,and the incidence of lariat RNA retention is much less in shoot apex while much more in *** lariat RNAs derived from the same intron or different lariat RNAs from the same pre-m RNA could be retained in one tissue while degraded in the other *** deciphering lariat RNA sequences,we identified an AG-rich(RAAAAVAAAR)motif and a UC-rich(UCUCUYUCUC)motif for pollen-specific and the other three tissues-retained lariat RNAs,*** of the pollen-specific AG-rich motif indeed enhanced lariat RNA retention in ***,hundreds of lariat RNAs harbored mi RNA binding sites,and dual-luciferase reporter assay showed that these natural lariat RNAs had the potential to protect expression of mi RNA target ***,our results uncover that selective retention of lariat RNA is an actively regulatory process,and provide new insights into understanding how lariat RNA metabolism may impact mi RNA activity.

Longitudinal dependence of the forecast accuracy of the ionospheric total electron content in the equatorial zone

The longitudinal dependence of the behavior of ionospheric parameters has been the subject of a number of works where significant variations are discovered. This also applies to the prediction of the ionospheric total electron content(TEC), which neural network methods have recently been widely ***, the results are mainly presented for a limited set of meridians. This paper examines the longitudinal dependence of the TEC forecast accuracy in the equatorial zone. In this case, the methods are used that provided the best accuracy on three meridians: European(30°E), Southeastern(110°E) and American(75°W). Results for the stations considered are analyzed as a function of longitude using the Jet Propulsion Laboratory Global Ionosphere Map(JPL GIM) for 2015. These results are for 2 h ahead and 24 h ahead forecast. It was found that in this case, based on the metric values, three groups of architectures can be distinguished. The first group included long short-term memory(LSTM), gated recurrent unit(GRU), and temporal convolutional networks(TCN) models as a part of unidirectional deep learning models; the second group is based on the recurrent models from the first group, which were supplemented with a bidirectional algorithm, increasing the TEC forecasting accuracy by 2-3 times. The third group, which includes the bidirectional TCN architecture(BiTCN), provided the highest accuracy. For this architecture, according to data obtained for 9 equatorial stations, practical independence of the TEC prediction accuracy from longitude was observed under the following metrics(Mean Absolute Error MAE, Root Mean Square Error RMSE, Mean Absolute Percentage Error MAPE): MAE(2 h) is 0.2 TECU approximately; MAE(24 h) is 0.4 TECU approximately; RMSE(2 h) is less than 0.5 TECU except Niue station(RMSE(2 h) is 1 TECU approximately); RMSE(24 h) is in the range of 1.0-1.7 TECU; MAPE(2 h) < 1% except Darwin station, MAPE(24 h) < 2%. Strain-promoted S-arylation and alkenylation of sulfinamides using arynes and cyclic alkynes

The conversion of commercially available chiral sulfinamides into pharmaceutically useful chiral sulfoximines via direct SIVfunctionalization is synthetically attractive but challenging due to the competitive reaction of N-functionalization. Herein, we disclose a novel strain-release strategy to access stereospecific and chemoselective SIV-arylation and alkenylation of sulfinamides using arynes and strained cyclic alkynes. This method tolerates an unprecedented chemical diversity of functional groups attached to the nitrogen center(N-R). The origin of the high SIV-selectivity is elucidated by density functional theory calculations, suggesting a stepwise mechanism for the aryne substrates and a concerted mechanism for the cyclic alkynes.
