in order to facilitate herpetological research for all the herpetologists both in and outside of China, we will report all the type specimens of amphibia and reptilia deposited in the Herpetological Museum of Chengdu institute of biology(CiB), Chinese Academy of Sciences in series. This report focuses on the family Rhacophoridae of Anura in Amphibia, including 13 species. The contents of the report include synonym lists and generic transfer of type species, measurements of type specimens, particularly for those with no previously published measurement data, and chromosomal data for each species.

Biodiversity loss is a significant problem at a global scale and may be amplified by climate *** recent years,coniferous forests have had substantial die-back across Europe due to drought and subsequent bark-beetle *** many studies on the consequences of disturbance and subsequent management have focused on natural stands,management implications for managed spruce stands are not well understood,even though such stands are widespread throughout *** this study,beetle taxonomy,conservation value,and community com-position are compared among spruce plantations and four post-disturbance management approaches:standing dead-wood,lying deadwood,clear cuts,and long-term *** and community composition differed significantly among management categories,while different beetle fami-lies responded *** spruce stands harbored the lowest beetle diversity while the highest taxonomic diver-sity and conservation value was on clear cuts and stands with lying or standing *** proportion of forest specialists was highest in successional *** summary,different forest management categories harbored distinct beetle communities at the family-,species-,and ecological guild ***,post-disturbance management should consider the landscape scale and include different management *** enhances landscape heterogeneity and thus overall biodiversity but could also mitigate negative impacts of natural disturbances on ecosystem services.

is it better to be safe than sorry?This Hamletic dilemma has always stimulated medical-scientific debates in numerous fields of *** among these,the preventive-therapeutic approach to the treatment of brain trauma is one of the most striking *** brain injury(TBi)is a leading cause of brain damage among young and elderly populations with a very high hospitalization and death *** is characterized by two pathologically distinct but strictly consequential phases:a first characterized by an immediate and highly variable mechanical dysfunction of the brain tissue,which involves widespread cell death and tissue degeneration,followed by a second phase which can last from days to even years depending on the severity of the TBi and the patient’s pre-existing health *** processes,including inflammatory phenomena,oxidative stress associated with metabolic,vascular,and neuro-modulatory deficits,are very often responsible for neuro-motor and psychological deficits leading to long-term disabilities(Kaur and Sharma,2018).

Ubiquitination-mediated protein degradation is integral to plant immunity,with E3 ubiquitin ligases acting as key factors in this ***,we report the functions of OsATL32,a plasma membrane-localized Arabidopsis Tóxicos En Levadura(ATL)-type E3 ubiquitin ligase,in rice(Oryza sativa)immunity and its associated regulatory *** found that the expression of OsATL32 is downregulated in both compatible and incompatible interactions between rice and the rice blast fungus Magnaporthe *** OsATL32 protein level declines in response to infection by a compatible *** strain or to chitin ***32 negatively regulates rice resistance to blast and bacterial leaf blight diseases,as well as chitin-triggered *** and genetic studies revealed that OsATL32 suppresses pathogen-induced reactive oxygen species(ROS)accumulation by mediating ubiquitination and degradation of the ROS-producing OsRac5–OsRbohB module,which enhances rice immunity against *** protein phosphatase PHOSPHATASE AND TENSiN HOMOLOG enhances rice blast resistance by dephosphorylating OsATL32 and promoting its degradation,preventing its negative effect on rice *** study provides insights into the molecular mechanism by which the E3 ligase OsATL32 targets a ROS-producing module to undermine rice immunity.

Chemotherapy is an effortless and frequently used approach in cancer ***,in most cases,it can only prolong life expectancy and does not guarantee a complete ***,chemotherapy is associated with severe adverse effects,one of the major complications of effective cancer *** addition,newly published research outputs show that cancer stem cells are involved in cancer disease progression,drug resistance,metastasis,and recurrence and that they are functional in the trans-differentiation capacity of cancer stem cells to cancer cells in response to *** strategies are therefore required for better management of cancer *** prime approach would be to synthesize and develop novel drugs that need extensive resources,time,and endurance to be brought into therapeutic *** subsequent approach would be to screen the anti-cancer activity of avail-able non-cancerous *** concept of repurposing non-cancer drugs as an alternative to current cancer therapy has become popular in recent years because using existing anticancer drugs has several adverse *** have also been investigated for cancer ther-apy due to their significant anti-cancer effects with negligible or no side effects and availabil-ity in food *** this paper,we discuss an ideal hypothesis for screening available non-cancerous drugs with anticancer activity,with a focus on cancer stem cells and their clinical application for cancer ***,drug repurposing and the combination of micronu-trients that can target both cancers and cancer stem cells may result in a better therapeutic approach leading to maximum tumor growth control.

Globally,marine bioinvasions threaten marine ecosystem structure and function,with the Mediterranean Sea being one of the most affected *** invasions are expected to increase due to climate *** conducted a risk screening of marine organisms(37 fishes,38 invertebrates,and 9 plants),both extant and‘horizon’(i.e.,not present in the area but likely to enter it).Based on expert knowledge for the Eastern Adriatic Sea coasts of Slovenia,Croatia,and Montenegro,screenings were conducted under both current and predicted climate conditions indicating with an increase in sea surface temperature and salinity of the Adriatic Sea together with changes in precipitation *** aims were to:(1)identify non-native extant and horizon marine species that may pose threats to native biodiversity and(2)evaluate the risk of invasiveness of the selected species under current and predicted climate *** the 84 species screened,there was an increase in those ranked as‘high risk’from 33(39.3%)under current climate conditions and to 47(56.0%)under global warming *** those ranked as‘very high’risk,the increase was from 6(7.1%)to 21(25.0%).Amongst the screened species,the already established high-risk species Pacific oyster Magallana gigas and Atlantic blue crab Callinectes sapidus represent a threat to ecosystem *** the under-representation of marine species in the current European Union List,the species we have ranked as high to very high risk should be included.
