In this article,we review recent advances in the technology of writing fiber Bragg gratings(FBGs)in selected cores of multicore fibers(MCFs)by using femtosecond laser *** writing technology of such a key element as the FBG opens up wide opportunities for the creation of next generation fiber lasers and sensors based on *** advantages of the technology are shown by using the examples of 3D shape sensors,acoustic emission sensors with spatially multiplexed channels,as well as multicore fiber Raman lasers.

Intermetallic compounds of AB 5 type are promising materials for M-H batteries. In this report we present the results about the influence of quality of intermetallic compounds prepared by a new method of synthesis on their electrochemical properties. The well-known intermetallic Ln 1-xM xNi 5-yMe y (Ln=La, Mm; M=Zr; Me=Mn, Ge, Sn, Al, Co+Sn, Co+Ge) compounds were synthesized by using mixtures of oxides, chlorides and carbonates of metals by interaction with lithium hydride at 700～1000 ℃. Prepared samples have the uniform microstructure with average dimension of particles about 20～30 μm. Electrochemical tests show that kinetic behaviour of compositions are satisfactory under current up to 200 mA·g -1. These compositions require practically no activation and limiting values of the discharge capacity were reached at 2～3 cycle up to 300 mAh·g -1, which can be considered as most promising for practice.

An experimental investigation of transformer-coupled discharge in an Ar-O2 mixture with the addition of SICl4, TiCl4 and ZrCl4 has been carried out under the atmospheric pressure of plasma-forming gases. Discharge power and discharge heat losses have been determined, and the dispersion and phase composition of reaction products （oxide powders） has been analyzed with SEM and X-ray diffraction analysis. Investigations reveal the formation of ultrafine oxide powders in the case of vaporized chloride （SiCl4 and TiCl4） injecting into the transformer coupled discharge. In the case of fine powder （ZrCl4） injection, full oxidation was not observed and reaction products consisted of a mixture of ZrO2 and ZrOCl2. A conclusion has been made regarding the perspectives of using transformer-coupled discharge to produce ultrafine oxide powders.

High-brightness fiber laser sources usually utilize active rare-earth-doped fibers cladding-pumped by multimode laser diodes(LDs), but they operate in limited wavelength ranges. Singlemode-passive-fiber based Raman lasers are able to operate at almost any wavelength being pumped by high-power fiber lasers. One of the interesting possibilities is to directly pump graded-index(GRIN) multimode passive fibers by available high-power multimode LDs at 915–940 nm,thus achieving high-power Raman lasing in the wavelength range of 950–1000 nm, which is problematic for rare-earthdoped fiber lasers. Here we review the latest results on the development of all-fiber high-brightness LD-pumped sources based on GRIN fiber with in-fiber Bragg gratings(FBGs). The mode-selection properties of FBGs inscribed by fs pulses supported by the Raman clean-up effect result in efficient conversion of multimode pump into a high-quality output beam at 9 xx nm. GRIN fibers with core diameters 62.5, 85 and 100 μm are compared. Further scaling capabilities and potential applications of such sources are discussed.

It is known that injection of carbon dioxide into the petroleum reservoir(CO_(2) flooding) is one of the effective methods for enhanced oil recovery. CO_(2) flooding may be complicated by formation of CO_(2) hydrate plugs. It makes topical investigation of CO_(2) hydrate formation in the system gaseous CO_(2)-oil-water. In this work, the growth rates of carbon dioxide hydrate films at the water-oil as well as the water-gas interface are studied in the pressure range of 2.30-3.04 MPa and at temperatures between -5.4 and 5.0℃. It is found that the growth rate for the water-oil interface is 3.5 times lower than that for the water-gas interface with carbon dioxide. It is hypothesised that the observed decrease in the growth rate is related to the mechanical resistance of the oil components adsorbed on the interface to the growth of the hydrate film. The growth rate of the film has been shown to depend on the experimental procedure,most likely due to the different initial concentrations of carbon dioxide in the aqueous solutions.

The objective of the present study is an experimental investigation of diffusion combustion of round microjets,i.e.,mixtures of hydrogen with methane,helium,and *** is found that the evolution of burning microjets is associated with generation of a“bottleneck flame region”close to the nozzle exit,as it was observed earlier during hydrogen *** of a mixture of hydrogen and methane with increasing flow velocity occurs with the transformation of the *** first,a torch stabilized on the nozzle is observed,then it is divided into a stabilized part in contact with the nozzle and into a raised part of the *** combustion process occurs in two areas.A further increase in velocity promotes the breakdown of the raised torch,but maintains combustion in the nozzle *** results on hydrogen/methane combustion are obtained in a smaller range of the microjet velocity than those of a hydrogen *** similar data are derived for other gas *** make combustion of gas mixtures more stable with increasing microjet velocity,one has to increase the portion of hydrogen in the gas mixture or reduce the fractions of other gas additives.

Modified Ceria-Zirconia Fluorite-Like Catalysts for the Combustion of Methane

For dispersed ceria-zirconia-based solid solutions prepared via the polymerized complex method and annealed at 700 ℃, effects of bulk doping by Ca, Mn, Co, Bi or Nb cations and surface modification by Mn and Pt on their structural features, surface/bulk oxygen reactivity and catalytic activity in methane combustion are considered. With up to 20 mol% doping, a structural type of homogeneous solid solutions of anion-deficient fluorite with disordered anion vacancies is formed. Doping by transition metal cations or Pt increases the mobility and reactivity of the surface/bulk oxygen. A broad variation in specific rates of methane combustion for the studied systems was observed, suggesting structural sensitivity of this reaction. In general, there is no universal relationship between the oxygen mobility, the reactivity and the catalytic activity in methane combustion, which is explained by the factor of specific methane activation on surface active sites. For the Pt-promoted samples, Pt efficiency in methane activation depends on the Pt-support interaction, and the most favorable ones being mixed Pt/MnOx and Pt/NbOx clusters on the surface of the supports that exhibit high lattice oxygen mobilities.

Geothermal Model of the Fore-Yenisey Sedimentary Basin——Transitional Structure between the Ancient Siberian Platform and the Young West Siberian Plate

Results of the investigation into the geothermal regime of the Fore-Yenisey sedimentary basin, formed during the collision and subsidence of the Kas-Turukhan microcontinent and the western margin of the Siberian craton in the late Neoproterozoic and early Paleozoic are reported. It was established that the structural and geothermal conditions of the upper Precambrian–Paleozoic sections are similar to those in the western regions of the Siberian platform and are characterized by rather low geothermal gradients(12.5–25.5 ℃/km). In the western parts of the basin, formation temperatures in the uppermost pre-Jurassic sediments are 50℃–85℃, decreasing eastward to 30℃–55℃. For the first time, the detailed geothermal model of the basin sedimentary fill was developed. This model allows predictions of the geothermal conditions of Earth’s interior.

Impact of lanthanum on the modification of HfO_2 films structure

LaxHf1-xOy thin films with various concentrations of La, homogeneous and nonhomogeneous distributions of elements throughout the films thickness was purposefully grown by CVD. The composition of the films and their chemical structures were characterized throughout the films thickness by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS） and energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry （EDXA）. A full picture of the film crystallinity was provided by the combination of grazing incidence X-ray diffraction （GIXRD） synchrotron radiation （SR） and high resolution transmission electron microscopy （HR TEM）. It was shown that La acted as ＂molar volume modulator＂ and stabilized the nonequilibrium at T≤1300 ℃ cubic phases. The samples with La content in range of 7 at.%〈CLa〈22 at.% were materials with fluorite-type （Fm-3m） structure. The pyroehlore phase formation was observed at -18 at.% La content. The correlation between the La-doped content and the films microstructure was revealed.
