Wearable ultrasensitive and rapid human physiological monitoring based on microfiber Sagnac interferometer

High-sensitive and fast-responding flexible strain sensors are essential for the smart wearable devices that precisely and dynamically perceive the weak deformations induced by human physiological signals. Here, a flexible strain sensor via polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)-encapsulated microfiber Sagnac interferometer was designed and prepared for monitoring the human pulse signals and sound vibrations. The sensor achieved a record-breaking sensitivity(gauge factor, GF = 9977) and an extremely low detection limit(0.00025%) due to the strong polarization-dependent coupling effect in the microfiber coupler and the polarization-mixing effect in the Sagnac loop. The relative intensity demodulation method also enabled a fast response time of 10 μs. The wearable pulse measurements were implemented by attaching this flexible strain sensor directly to human skin at various locations and the waveform details were accurately captured. Taking advantage of the ultra-high sensitivity and fast response performance of the prepared sensor, the real-time dynamic acquisition of the underwater weak signal, such as the hydro-acoustic waves with a wide range of 20 Hz–16.86 k Hz, has been demonstrated. These initial results pave the way for a new and innovative category of underwater wearable devices with rapid detection of human physiological signals and weak environmental vibrations.

Plate subduction leads to complex exhumation processes on *** Huangling Massif lies at the northern margin of the South China *** the Huangling Massif was exhumed as a watershed of the middle reaches of the Paleo-Yangtze River during the Mesozoic remains under *** examined the exhumation history of the Huangling Massif based on six granite bedrock samples,using apatite fission track(AFT)and apatite and zircon(U-Th)/He(AHe and ZHe)*** samples yielded ages of 157–132 Ma(ZHe),119–106 Ma(AFT),and 114–72 Ma(AHe),*** modeling revealed that three phases of rapid cooling occurred during the Late Jurassic–Early Cretaceous,late Early Cretaceous,and Late *** exhumation processes led to the high topographic relief responsible for the emergence of the Huangling *** integrated of our new data with published sedimentological records suggests that the Huangling Massif might have been the watershed of the middle reaches of the Paleo-Yangtze River since the *** that time,the rivers flowed westward into the Sichuan Basin and eastward into the Jianghan *** subduction of the Pacific Plate beneath the Asian continent in the Mesozoic deeply influenced the geomorphic evolution of the South China Block.

Optimal Sizing and Power Losses Reduction of Photovoltaic Systems Using PVsyst Software

This paper presents a method for optimizing a grid-connected photovoltaic system through an LCL filter. An algorithm based on particle swarm optimization (PSO) is used to determine the number of batteries, the number of panels in series and in parallel, as well as to evaluate the joule losses due to cable heating and the switching losses of the multilevel inverters. This system is applied to a village named YAGOUA, located in the far north of Cameroon. The evaluation of the Joule effect and the switching losses as well as the regulation of the voltage level at the point of common coupling (PCC) are carried out in PVsyst and Matlab software, then at IEEE 33 bus. This algorithm reduced the Joule losses to 1.2% and the switching losses to 2.2%. A power of 210.4 MWh is produced, to be injected in the electrical network via an LCL filter. The THD calculation gave a rate of 3.015% in accordance with the 519 standards. Synchronization through the Phase Locked Loop (PLL) is performed. After the power was injected into the grid, the voltage and current remained in phase, showing the power factor correction and the efficiency of the filter. According to NASA meteorological data, the locality of YAGOUA gives the global solar irradiation forecast of 6.8 kW/m2.

Model of self-generated magnetic field generation from relativistic laser interaction with solid targets

Generation of self-generated annular magnetic fields at the rear side of a solid target driven by relativistic laser pulse is investigated by using theoretical analysis and particle-in-cell *** spatial strength distribution of magnetic fields can be accurately predicted by calculating the net flow caused by the superposition of source flow and return flow of hot *** theoretical model established shows good agreement with the simulation results,indicating that the magnetic-field strength scales positively to the temperature of hot *** provides us a way to improve the magnetic-field generation by using a micro-structured plasma grating in front of the solid *** with that for a common flat target,hot electrons can be effectively heated with the well-designed grating size,leading to a stronger magnetic *** spatial distribution of magnetic fields can be modulated by optimizing the grating period and height as well as the incident angle of the laser pulse.

Participatory Land Rehabilitation Strategies in Angacha District, Kembata Zone, Central Ethiopia Region

Community participation has become widely incorporated into policies of many soil and water conservation organizations. The purpose of this study was to assess the community participation in the rehabilitation of degraded land. In order to achieve the objective of the study, both primary and secondary data were generated by employing qualitative and quantitative data. Purposive sampling was employed to select three study kebeles (the smallest administrative structure of the country) from 16 rural kebeles in Angecha District. Simple random sampling technique was used to select 183 household heads from the lists of farmers in the selected kebeles for detailed household survey. In addition to household survey, field observation and key informant interview were also conducted to collect the necessary data. The data were presented using descriptive statistic such as percentage, frequency, tables and figure. The data collected through the use of household survey questionnaires were analyzed using logit regression while data collected through field observation and key informant interview were analyzed and interpreted using qualitative description. The findings of the present study revealed that population pressure, soil erosion, deforestation, overgrazing, and over cultivation were the major causes for land degradation. Moreover, the results of this study indicated that the main causes of the low productivity of farmland were farmers’ involvement in off-farm activities, increase in size of human population, lack of full cooperation of family members to involve in land rehabilitation practices. Households participated in rehabilitation practices at different levels, with 43.7% respondents showing intermediate participation. However, 22.4% of the farm households clarified that there is low experience sharing and motivation to participate in the process of implementation of rehabilitation programs. GNSS gyroscopes:determination of angular velocity and acceleration with very high-rate GNSS

Although global navigation satellite systems(GNSS)have been routinely applied to determine attitudes,there exists no literature on determining angular velocity and/or angular acceleration from *** by the invention of computerized accelerometers of the correspondence author and following the success of accurately recovering translational velocity and acceleration waveforms from very high-rate GNSS precise positioning by Xu and his collaborators in 2021,we propose the concept of GNSS gyroscopes and reconstruct angular velocity and acceleration from very high-rate GNSS attitudes by applying regularization under the criterion of minimum mean squared *** major results from the experiments can be summarized in the following:(i)angular velocity and acceleration waveforms computed by applying the difference methods to high-rate GNSS attitudes are too noisy and can be physically not meaningful and numerically *** same can be said about inertial measurement unit(IMU)attitudes,if IMU gyros are not of very high accuracy;(ii)regularization is successfully applied to reconstruct the high-rate angular velocity and acceleration waveforms from 50 Hz GNSS attitudes and significantly outperforms the difference methods,validating the proposed concept of GNSS *** comparing the angular velocity and acceleration results by using the difference methods and regularization,we find that the peak values of angular velocity and acceleration by regularization are much smaller by a maximum factor of 1.57 in the angular velocity to a maximum factor of 8662.53 times in the angular acceleration in the case of high-rate GNSS,and by a maximum factor of 1.26 in the angular velocity to a maximum factor of 2819.85 times in the angular acceleration in the case of IMU,respectively;and(iii)the IMU attitudes apparently lead to better regularized angular velocity and acceleration waveforms than the high-rate GNSS attitudes,which can well be explained by the fact that the

Lead sulfide(PbS)colloidal quantum dot(CQD)photodiodes integrated with silicon-based readout integrated circuits(ROICs)offer a promising solution for the next-generation short-wave infrared(SWIR)imaging *** their potential,large-size CQD photodiodes pose a challenge due to high dark currents resulting from surface states on nonpassivated(100)facets and trap states generated by CQD *** this work,we present a novel approach to address this issue by introducing double-ended ligands that supplementally passivate(100)facets of halidecapped large-size CQDs,leading to suppressed bandtail states and reduced defect *** results demonstrate that the dark current density is highly suppressed by about an order of magnitude to 9.6 nA cm^(2) at -10 mV,which is among the lowest reported for PbS CQD ***,the performance of the photodiodes is exemplary,yielding an external quantum efficiency of 50.8%(which corresponds to a responsivity of 0.532 A W^(-1))and a specific detectivity of 2.5×10^(12) Jones at 1300 *** integrating CQD photodiodes with CMOS ROICs,the CQD imager provides high-resolution(640×512)SWIR imaging for infrared penetration and material discrimination.
