Parkinson’s disease is a common neurodegenerative disease with movement disorders associated with the intracytoplasmic deposition of aggregate proteins such asα-synuclein in *** one of the major intracellular degradation pathways,the autophagy-lysosome pathway plays an important role in eliminating these *** evidence has shown that upregulation of the autophagy-lysosome pathway may contribute to the clearance ofα-synuclein aggregates and protect against degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in Parkinson’s ***,multiple genes associated with the pathogenesis of Parkinson’s disease are intimately linked to alterations in the autophagy-lysosome ***,this pathway appears to be a promising therapeutic target for treatment of Parkinson’s *** this review,we briefly introduce the machinery of ***,we provide a description of the effects of Parkinson’s disease–related genes on the autophagy-lysosome ***,we highlight the potential chemical and genetic therapeutic strategies targeting the autophagy–lysosome pathway and their applications in Parkinson’s disease.

Steroid hormones, synthesized from cholesterol via cytochrome P450 enzymes, are categorized into adrenocortical hormones and sex hormones. Their monitoring is crucial in clinical and research settings for evaluating disease risk and physiological shifts, as well as for managing medical conditions. The structural similarity and concentration differences of steroid hormones in biological samples create significant challenges for analysis. Traditional immunoassays(IAs) are now less effective due to cross-reactivity and other limitations. Advances in mass spectrometry(MS), especially liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry, have become preferred for steroid hormone detection, establishing a new “gold standard” in the field. The paper examines the influence of various pretreatment methods on the sensitivity and detection limits of steroid hormones,including protein precipitation, liquid–liquid extraction, solid-phase extraction, cold-induced phase separation technique,and derivatization technique, providing a crucial reference for clinical steroid detection. This paper reviews IAs and MS methods used recently(2013–2023) for detecting endogenous steroid hormones, highlighting their analytical strengths and limitations. It also discusses recent advancements and future prospects in both IA and MS methodologies.

The land application of livestock manure has been widely acknowledged as a beneficial approach for nutrient recycling and environmental ***,the impact of residual antibiotics,a common contaminant of manure,on the degradation of organic compounds and nutrient release in Eutric Regosol is not well ***,we studied,how oxytetracycline(OTC)and ciprofloxacin(CIP)affect the decomposition,microbial community structure,extracellular enzyme activities and nutrient release from cattle and pig manure using litterbag incubation *** showed that OTC and CIP greatly inhibited livestock manure decomposition,causing a decreased rate of carbon(28%-87%),nitrogen(15%-44%)and phosphorus(26%-43%)*** relative abundance of gramnegative(G-)bacteria was reduced by 4.0%-13%while fungi increased by 7.0%-71%during a 28-day incubation ***-occurrence network analysis showed that antibiotic exposure disrupted microbial interactions,particularly among G-bacteria,G+bacteria,and *** changes in microbial community structure and function resulted in decreased activity of urease,β-1,4-N-acetyl-glucosaminidase,alkaline protease,chitinase,and catalase,causing reduced decomposition and nutrient release in cattle and pig *** findings advance our understanding of decomposition and nutrient recycling from manure-contaminated antibiotics,which will help facilitate sustainable agricultural production and soil carbon sequestration.

Various chemical irrigants and drugs have been employed for intra-canal disinfection in root canal therapy (RCT). However, due to the complexity of root canal anatomy, many drugs still exhibit poor penetrability and antibiotic resistance, leading to suboptimal treatment outcomes. Thus, it is challenging to remove the organic biofilms from root canals. In recent years, light-responsive therapy, with deeper tissue penetration than traditional treatments, has emerged as an effective RCT modality. Herein, this review summarizes the recent development of light-responsive nanomaterials for biofilm removal in *** light-responsive nanomaterials and the corresponding therapeutic methods in RCT, including photodynamic therapy (PDT), photothermal therapy (PTT), and laser-activated therapy, are highlighted. Finally,the challenges that light-responsive nanomaterials and treatment modalities will encounter to conquer the biofilm in future RCT are discussed. This review is believed to significantly accelerate the future development of light-responsive nanomaterials for RCT from bench to bedside.

Dear Editor,We report a case of Purtscher-like retinopathy in a patient with coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).Fundus examination revealed extensive peripapillary white retinal patches(Purtscher’s fleckens)and cotton-wool spots(CWS)with minor hemorrhage bilaterally,consistent with Purtscher-like *** coherence tomography angiography(OCTA)showed multiple irregular areas of capillary nonperfusion.

High-throughput genotyping tools can effectively promote molecular breeding in *** this study,genotyping by target sequencing(GBTS)system was utilized to develop a genome-wide liquid SNP chip for facilitating genetics and breeding in melon(Cucumis melo L.),a globally cultivated economically important horticultural *** on over eight million SNPs derived from 823 representative melon accessions,16K,8K,4K,2K,1K,500,250 and 125 informative SNPs were screened and evaluated for their polymorphisms,conservation of flanking sequences,and *** set of 2K SNPs was found to be optimal for representing the maximum diversity with the lowest number of SNPs,and it was selected to develop the liquid chip,named“Melon2K”.Using Melon2K,more than 1500 SNPs were detected across 17 samples of five melon cultivars,and the phylogenetic relationships were clearly *** the same cultivar,genetic differences were also assessed between different *** evaluated the performance of Melon2K in genetic background selection during the breeding process,obtaining the introgression lines of interested trait with more than 97%genetic background of elite variety by only two rounds of *** results suggest that Melon2K provides a cost-effective,efficient and reliable platform for genetic analysis and molecular breeding in melon.

Cytoplasmic male sterile(CMS)lines play a crucial role in utilization of heterosis in crop ***,the mechanism underlying the manipulation of male sterility in cotton by long non-coding RNA(lncRNA)and brassinosteroids(BRs)remains ***,using an integrative approach combining lncRNA transcriptomic profiles with virus-induced gene silencing experiments,we identify a flower budspecific lncRNA in the maintainer line 2074B,lncRNA67,negatively modulating with male sterility in upland cotton(Gossypium hirsutum).lncRNA67positively regulates cytochrome P274B(GhCYP724B),which acted as an eTM(endogenous target mimic)for *** suppression of GhCYP724B induced symptoms of BR deficiency and male semisterility in upland cotton as well as in tobacco,which resulted from a reduction in the endogenous BR ***724B regulates BRs synthesis by interacting with GhDIM and GhCYP90B,two BRs biosynthesis ***,GhCYP724B suppressed a unique chimeric open reading frame(Aorf27)in 2074A mitochondrial *** expression of Aorf27 in yeast inhibited cellular growth,and over expression of Aorf27 in tobacco showed male ***,the results proved that the miR3367–lncRNA67–GhCYP724B module positively regulates male sterility by modulating BRs *** findings uncovered the function of lncRNA67–GhCYP724B in male sterility,providing a new mechanism for understanding male sterility in upland cotton.
