The suppression of overwintering population is essential in integrated pest management,but little is known about the biological mortality factors that reduce the overwintering density of Chilo ***,we examine the parasitism of overwintering larvae,and assume that key parasitoids strengthen the over-wintering population *** natural parasitism incidence and related dominant parasitoids in overwintering larvae were investigated in two successive winters,in 2015-2016 and *** rates were also assessed in larvae collected from 15 different counties in *** results showed that the parasitism incidence and dominant parasitoids in overwintering *** larvae were significantly different for different sampling dates and *** larvae of *** were mainly parasitized by Cotesia chilonis,and less often by Eriborus sinicus and Microgaster *** analysis indicated that the natural incidence of parasites in overwintering *** larvae was positively correlated with the over-wintering larval *** current work provides support for overwintering pest management strategies by showing the effectiveness of parasitoid communities as a bio-mortality factor for suppressing overwintering density.

Obective:To evaluate the *** and repellent properties of solvent extracts of marine sponge Cliona celala(***)(Grant) against the malarial vector Anopheles stephensi(***) ***:Marine sponge *** was thoroughly washed with distilled water and shade dried for 48 *** the sponges were homogenized and extracted sequentially with hexane,ethyl acetate and methanol,Lanvicidal and ovicidal activities were tested at four different concentrations viz.,62.***.125.0.250.0 and 500.0 *** repellent study extracts were taken in three different concentrations viz..5.***.2.5.1.0 mg/cm ***:Among the three solvent extracts of ***,methanol extract showed thc highest lanvieidal activity at 500 ppm against the fourth inslar larvae of *** LC_(50)and LC_(90) values of *** methanol extract were recorded as 80.61 and 220.81 ppm against *** larvae *** ovieidal activity of 91.2%was recorded al 500 ppm concentration of methanol *** haxane extract was found to be the most effective protectant against the adult female mosquitoes of *** mean protection time recorded in hexane extract was up to 245 min at 5 mg/cm^2 dosage against *** ***:The screening results suggest that the hexane and methanol extracts of *** arc promising in mosquito *** these *** could the probed further to obtain some novel pesticidal molecules.

The natural sex pheromone of the yellow rice borer, Scirpophaga incertulas is known to consist of 3 components: 16: Ald (Ⅰ), (Z)-9-16: Ald (Ⅱ) and (Z)-11-16: Ald (Ⅲ) by using single sex pheromone gland technique, high performance capillary CC, GC-MS, EAG, micro-chemical reaction as well as field trapping tests. Analysis of single sex pheromone gland showed that the precise ratio of the 3 components is 18.8 (Ⅰ): 27.1 (Ⅱ): 54.1 (Ⅲ) (％). The septura lure made according to the above precise blending showed strong attractancy in the field trapping tests. Maximun catch of a trap was 45 males/ day in the first generation in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The average catch per day was 15.8 males.

Characterization of two novel heat shock protein 70s and their transcriptional expression patterns in response to thermal stress in adult of Frankliniella occidentalis (Thysanoptera:Thripidae)

Heat shock protein 70（HSP70） is one of the most important members in the heat shock protein family, and plays important roles in the thermotolerance of insect. To explore the molecular mechanism of thermotolerance of Frankliniella occidentalis adults, the difference in the expression of HSP70s in F. occidentalis male or female adults under the thermal stress was studied under the laboratory conditions. Two full length c DNAs of HSP70s gene（Fohsc704 and Fohsc705） were cloned from F. occidentalis by using RT-PCR and RACE. The genomic sequence was demonstrated by genomic validation, and the position and size of the intron were analyzed by sequence analysis of c DNA. Real-time PCR was used to analyze the HSP70 expression patterns. The c DNA of Fohsc704 and Fohsc705 possessed 2 073 and 1 476 bp which encoded 690 and 491 amino acids（aa） with a calculated molecular weight of 75 and 54 k Da, respectively. Four introns in Fohsc704 and six introns in Fohsc705 protein were found. However, the HSP70 protein sequences in our study were ended with EKKN and GIFL, which were different from the reported Fo HSP70s. Various expression patterns of Fohsc704 and Fohsc705 were found in both genders of F. occidentalis under thermal stress. The expression of Fohsc704 and Fohsc705 reached to the highest level at –12 and –8°C in male adults, respectively, and Fohsc705 expressed the highest level at 33°C in female adults. In conclusion, HSP70s of F. occidentalis in our study are novel heat shock proteins. There were difference in expression patterns of the two hsc70s in genders of F. occidentalis, and the two HSP70s play important roles in the thermotolerance of F. occidentalis.

Based on the faunal investigation of the Chinese Protura, the studies on the post-embryonicdevelopment of Sinentomon erythranum and the contemporary progress in work on ultrastruc-ture of spermatozoa of arthropods, the present paper puts forward a new idea on phylogenyof Protura, that is, group without tracheal system is the primitive group, while the group,cosentomids and sinentomids, with tracheal system, is a comparatively specialized group ofthe Protura. According to this new conception, a tentative phylogenetic arrangement of 53 known gen-era of the Protura is made. In addition, the relationship between the Insecta and Proturaas well as the systematic position of the Protura in the Phylum Arthropoda is also discussed.

The sequences of 16S rDNA, cytochrome oxidase subunit I （CO1） and cytochrome b （Cyt b） genes from nine field collections （seven provinces in China： Guangxi, Hubei, Guangdong, Guizhou, Zhejiang, Hunan, Jiangxi, and also southern and northern part oflran）, plus the sequences of Africa, Europe, Americas and Japan obtained form GenBank were used to re-analyse the genetic variation in the southern green stink bug Nezara viridula （Linnaeus）. The phylogeographic re-analysis by using four algorithms （N J, MP, ML and Bayesian） showed three main lineages. The Iranian haplotypes fell into lineage II formed from Europe and America, rather than in lineage III from Asia; the Chinese haplotypes fell into the Asian clade. Our results suggested that African and non-African gene pools have been isolated since the Miocene era with the molecular clock calibrations for Heteroptera mtDNA, and not since the Pliocene as mentioned previously. The corresponding age of the separation of the eastern and western Asia clades is estimated to be 4.0-1.6 million years ago, coinciding with the Pliocene-Pleistocene epoch and with acute rising events in the Tibet Plateau locates in the western China, which may have formed the barriers observed today.

Rickettsia influences thermotolerance in the whitefly Bemisia tabaci B biotype

The whitefly Bemisia tabaci harbors Portiera aleyrodidarum, an obligatory symbiotic bacterium, as well as several secondary symbionts, including Rickettsia, Hamiltonella, Wolbachia, Arsenophonus, Cardinium and Fritschea, the function of which is unknown. In Israel, Rickettsia is found in both the B and Q ofB. tabaci biotypes, and while all other secondary symbionts are located in the bacteriomes, Rickettsia can occupy most of the body cavity of the insect. We tested whether Rickettsia influences the biology of B. tabaci and found that exposing a Rickettsia-containing population to increasing temperatures significantly increases its tolerance to heat shock that reached 40~C, compared to a Rickettsia-free population. This increase in tolerance to heat shock was not associated with specific induction of heat-shock protein gene expression; however, it was associated with reduction in Rickettsia numbers as was assessed by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and fluorescence in situ hybridization analyses. To assess the causes for thermotolerance when Rickettsia is reduced, we tested whether its presence is associated with the induction of genes required for thermotolerance. We found that under normal 25℃ rearing temperature, genes associated with response to stress such as cytoskeleton genes are induced in the Rickettsia-containing population. Thus, the presence of Rickettsia in B. tabaci under normal conditions induces the expression of genes required for thermotolerance that under high temperatures indirectly lead to this tolerance.

Using HPLC we purified an antibacterial peptide named CM_2Ph_1 from the hemolymph ofpupae of silkworm (Bombyx mori) immunized with polyI:C. Amino acid composition analysisshowed that CM_2Ph_1 contained 16 kinds of amino acids. Its primary structure determined bythe automatic Edman degradation method is GNFFKDLEKMGQRVRDAVISAAPAVDTLAKA-KALGQ. Its C-terminal residue was assumed to be Gln with a blocking α-carboxylamide bycarboxypeptidases analysis. The purified CM_2Ph_1 was found to have inhibition effects invarying degrees on several bacterial strains. At a concentration of 0.35 μmol/L, CM_2Ph_1could inhibit the growth of 50% E. coli D31 strain. Some other antibacterial peptides were compared with CM_2Ph_1 in respect to their struc-tures and functions. Their homology was also discussed in this paper.
