During times of crisis, including pandemics, climate change, and forced migration, much of the discourse in ageing research and intervention centers on the vulnerabilities of older adults. Unfortunately, the valuable contributions of older adults to post-disaster recovery and healing are often overlooked and undervalued. Our aim in this scoping review is to shed light on the critical contributions of older forced migrants to post-migration recovery. We set the scene by introducing the two significant global demographic changes of the twenty-first century: forced migration and ageing. We provide a discourse on older forced migrants, ageing in situations of forced migration, and some of the challenges faced by older forced migrants. We then present some of the substantial roles of older forced migrants in post-migration recovery, including building resilience, contributing to culture and language transfer, providing emotional support, offering mentorship and leadership, participating in community building, and fostering social integration. We close by highlighting some of the lessons that can be drawn from understanding the unique roles played by older adults in post-forced migration recovery and the key actions necessary to promote these roles.

Background traditional methods for monitoring mining equipment rely primarily on visual inspections,which are time-consuming,inefficient,and *** article introduces a novel approach to monitoring mission-critical systems and services in the mining industry by integrating virtual reality(VR)and digital twin(Dt)***-based Dts enable remote equipment monitoring,advanced analysis of machine health,enhanced visualization,and improved decision *** this article presents an architecture for VR-based Dt development,including the developmental stages,activities,and stakeholders involved.A case study on the condition monitoring of a conveyor belt using real-time synthetic vibration sensor data was conducted using the proposed *** study demonstrated the application of the methodology in remote monitoring and identified the need for further development for implementation in active mining *** article also discusses interdisciplinarity,choice of tools,computational resources,time and cost,human involvement,user acceptance,frequency of inspection,multiuser environment,potential risks,and applications beyond the mining *** the findings of this study provide a foundation for future research in the domain of VR-based Dts for remote equipment monitoring and a novel application area for VR in mining.

Discrete element method(DEM)is an effective approach for studying the screening process of flip-flow ***,there have been few studies focusing on the thick layer of sticky-wet particles on flip-flow *** achieve accurate simulations of the thick layer of sticky-wet particles on a flip-flow screen,firstly,the movement law of particle flow was studied,and a multi-regime combination cali-bration method based on characteristics of particle flow regimes was *** on the Plackett-Burman experiment,the curse of dimensionality caused by multi-state and multi-contact parameters was ***,the lifting cylinder,rotating drum,and trampoline tests were carried out to obtain macroscopic reference values under various granular flow *** calibration results were then determined using the response surface method and climbing ***,the calibration results were tested at both macroscopic and mesoscopic scales and compared with a commonly used calibration *** results demonstrate that the calibration method,which considers the multi-state characteristics,improves simulation accuracy by 2%-10%and reduces the simulation error to less than 10%,thus meeting the requirements for engineering optimization of flip-flow screens.

A critical challenge of any blast simulation facility is in producing the widest possible pressure-impulse range for matching against equivalent high-explosive *** tubes and blast simulators are often constrained with the lack of effective ways to control blast wave profiles and as a result have a limited performance *** wave shaping techniques employed in some facilities are reviewed but often necessitate extensive geometric modifications,inadvertently cause flow anomalies,and/or are only applicable under very specific *** paper investigates controlled venting as an expedient way for waveforms to be tuned without requiring extensive modifications to the driver or existing geometry and could be widely applied by existing and future blast simulation and shock tube *** use of controlled venting is demonstrated experimentally using the Advanced Blast Simulator(shock tube)at the Australian National Facility of Physical Blast Simulation and via numerical flow simulations with Computational Fluid *** venting is determined as an effective method for mitigating the impact of re-reflected waves within the blast *** control method also allows for the adjustment of parameters such as tuning the peak overpressure,the positive phase duration,and modifying the magnitude of the negative phase and the secondary shock of the blast *** paper is concluded with an illustration of the potential expanded performance range of the Australian blast simulation facility when controlled venting for blast waveform tailoring as presented in this paper is applied.

In this paper,we consider a nonlinear ratio-dependent prey-predator model with constant prey refuge in the prey *** Allee and fear phenomena are incorporated explicitly in the growth rate of the prey *** qualitative behaviors of the proposed model are investigated around the equilibrium points in *** bifurcation including its direction and stability for the model is also *** observe that fear of predation risk can have both stabilizing and destabilizing effects and induces bubbling phenomenon in the *** is also observed that for a fixed strength of fear,an increase in the Allee parameter makes the system unstable,whereas an increase in prey refuge drives the system toward ***,higher values of both the Allee and prey refuge parameters have negative impacts and the populations go to ***,we explore the variation of densities of the populations in different bi-parameter spaces,where the coexistence equilibrium point remains *** simulations are carried out to explore the dynamical behaviors of the system with the help of MAtLAB software.

Abnormal SEP reflects dysfunction of the medial lemniscus and posterior cervical cord. these structures are likely to be affected in Chiari malformation. therefore, SEP abnormalities may provide valuable information in patients with CM. However, the consistency of SEP abnormality or normality with the damage is a matter of research. Knowing whether median nerve somatosensory evoked potential (SEP) is useful in revealing subclinical damage in patients with Chiari malformation is important in the treatment and follow-up plan of the disease. the aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between median nerve SEP values and the severity of cerebellar ectopia in patients with Chiari type 1 malformation. Median nerve SEP values were obtained from 30 healthy individuals and 146 individuals with Chiari malformation. the cerebellar ectopia degree and McRae line length were measured. SEP values were not significantly different between groups. the McRae line was found to be significantly shorter in the control group than in the Chiari malformation group (p = 0.031). there was no correlation between the degree of cerebellar ectopia and the length of the McRae line (r = 0.002, p = 0.979). Neither cerebellar ectopy degree nor McRae line length had a relationship with SEP values (r = -0.153, p = 0.066;r = -0.056, p = 0.500, respectively). there was no difference in cerebellar ectopy degree or SEP values between the groups with cerebellar ectopy with and without a syrinx (p = 0.899;p = 0.080, respectively). Likewise, McRae line length was not found to be related to the presence of a syrinx (p = 0.139). Median nerve SEP examination was not beneficial for diagnosing asymptomatic-oligosymptomatic Chiari malformation as a subclinical injury, whether accompanied by syringomyelia or not.
