Photoelectrochemical NO3-reduction（PEC NItRR） not only provides a promising solution for promoting the global nitrogen cycle,but also converts NO3-to the important chemicals（NH3）.However,it is still a great challenge to prepare catalysts with excellent NO3-adsorption/activation capacity to achieve high ***,we designed a novel Fe2+～Cu2+Fe3+LDH/BiVO4（FCF-LDH/BVO） catalyst with synergistic effect of chemical adsorption and physical ***2+in FCF-LDH/BVO provides the rich Lewis acid sites for the adsorption of NO3-,and the appropriate layer spacing of FCF-LDH further promotes the physical enrichment of NO3-in its interior,thus realizing the effective contact between NO3-and active sites(Fe2+).FCF-LDH/BVO showed excellent NH3production performance(FENH3=66.1%,rNH3=13.8 μg h-1cm-2) and selectivity(FENO2-=2.5%,rNO2-=4.9 μg h-1cm-2) in 0.5 mol *** addition,FCF-LDH/BVO maintains the desirable PEC stability for six cycle experiments,showing great potential for practical ***14NO3-and15NO3-isotope test provides strong evidence for further verification of the origin of N in the generated *** LDH catalyst has a great potential in PEC removal of NO3-from groundwater.

Heat transfer plays a major role in many industrial processes taking place in packed *** accurate and reliable simulation of the heat exchange between particles is therefore crucial for a reliable operation and to optimize the processes in the *** discrete ordinates method(DOM)provides an established numerical technique to model radiative heat transfer in granular media that offers the possibility to consider the directional dependence of the radiation *** this work,DOM is compared with Monte Carlo ray tracing,which provides an alternative method for heat transfer ***-rically simple configurations are used to investigate the influence of the angular discretization on the accuracy of the results and the computation time in both *** obtained insights are then transferred to a more complex configuration of a quasi two-dimensional test rig consisting of metal rods for which also experimental results are *** results show that both DOM and Monte Carlo ray tracing allow for an accurate simulation of heat transfer in packed *** Carlo ray tracing requires thereby computation times that are surprisingly competitive(although still somewhat slower)compared to DOM and allows for an easier computation of highly accurate reference *** our preliminary comparison to the experimental test rig,Monte Carlo ray tracing also provides the advantage that it can more easily model highly specular materials such as stainless *** methods are comparable for diffuse materials such as magnesium oxide.

A review of multi-chamber oscillating water column(OWC)device designs is *** significant variations of these devices are discussed,onshore OWC(OOWC)and a floating OWC(FOWC).the efficiency results of several theoretical studies based on low-and high-fidelity numerical models are presented and compared with the model scale ***,low-fidelity numerical models are very fast to run,but their accuracy is limited compared with high-fidelity numerical *** model experiments usually give results much more accurate than numerical models,but they need adequate facilities and are very *** the case of the OOWC,all models show a similar trend of total efficiency,but while the analytical model shows a maximum value of around 90%efficiency,the CFD model shows 60%,and the experiments only go up to 40%.the main reason is connected with the mathematical simplifications and assumptions that do not represent all the hydrodynamic and aerodynamic processes between the water,air,and *** the case of the FOWC,interestingly,the experimental results show a maximum efficiency of almost 100%,while the analytical model only predicts a maximum of 80%.the efficiency seems highly dependent on the heave motion resonance of the entire device,where the analytical model fails to predict this natural frequency.

Climate refugia can serve as a remnant habitat or stepping stones for species dispersal under climate *** largest freshwater lake by surface area,Lake Superior,USA and Canada,serves as a model system for understanding cooling-mediated local refugia,as its cool water temperatures and wave action have maintained shoreline habitats suitable for southern disjunct populations of arctic-alpine plants since ***,we seek to explain spatial patterns and environmental drivers of arctic-alpine plant refugia along Lake Superior’s shores,and assess future risk to refugia under moderate(+3.5℃)and warmest(+5.7℃)climate warming ***,we examined how the interactive effects of summer surface water temperatures and wind affected onshore temperatures,resulting in areas of cooler ***,we developed an ecological niche model for the presence of disjunct arctic-alpine refugia(pooling 1253 occurrences from 58 species)along the lake’s ***,we fit species distribution models for 20 of the most common arctic-alpine disjunct species and predicted presence to identify refugia ***,we used the two climate warming scenarios to predict changes in the presence of refugia and disjunct *** type,elevation above water,inland distance,July land surface temperature from MODIS/terra satellite and near-shore depth of water were the best predictors of disjunct ***,we predicted 2236 km of the shoreline(51%)as disjunct refugia habitat for at least one species under current conditions,but this was reduced to 20% and 7% with moderate(894 km)and warmest(313 km)climate change projections.

Shifting demographics—that is, the growing number of older adults in Canada and internationally—and intersecting climatic risks create a complex landscape of aging in place in disaster contexts. Some older adults are vulnerable due to their underlying health conditions and limited physical mobility. Yet they also exhibit resilience in a distinct manner, owing to their wealth of knowledge, wisdom, and ability to navigate adversities. this article elucidates potential avenues for promoting the involvement of older adults in disaster recovery efforts. Our intention is to recognize and foster older adult resilience and mitigate vulnerability by drawing upon insights from the study titled “In the Aftermath of the 2016 Alberta Wildfires: the Role of Social Work Practitioners and Human Service Professionals in Long-term Disaster Recovery.” Employing a qualitative research approach, that study recruited 51 participants for semistructured interviews and focus groups. A thematic analysis of the collected data unveiled the pivotal roles played by social workers and human service practitioners in facilitating recovery from the 2016 wildfires in the research. Notably, three overarching themes emerged concerning the promotion of older adults' involvement in disaster recovery: fostering supportive relationships, building partnerships and enhancing collaboration, and addressing ongoing challenges. these findings offer valuable insights into how social work practitioners and human service professionals can effectively facilitate the engagement of older adults in disaster recovery initiatives. this article emphasizes the significance of actively promoting the participation of older adults in disaster mitigation efforts, thereby fostering greater resilience within communities.

this paper investigates an efficient immersed boundary method(IBM)for multiple-core CPU machines with local grid refinement for the calculation of heat transfer between fluids and finite-sized *** fluid momentum equations are solved by using the fractional step method,while the energy equation is solved by employing the second-order Adams-Bashforth *** efficient load balancing between the CPU cores,the coupling between particles and fluid is obtained by applying the body force in the fluid equations,which depends on the solid volume fraction of particles contained in each grid cell,and then by linearly interpolating the particle temperature and velocity on the fluid grid cell(in place of the delta function commonly used in literature).Several test cases from the literature are studied,and good agreement is observed between the simulation results and the ***,a scaling study on multiple core machines is performed,demonstrating the proposed IBM's capabilities for a significant reduction in processing time.

In this editorial,we review the article by Liu et al published in the World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery investigating the efficacy and safety of immunotherapy in patients with gastric cancer(GC)and liver ***,the fifth most com-monly diagnosed malignancy worldwide,presents a significant challenge due to its multifactorial etiology and a grim prognosis for unresectable or recurrent *** advent of immune checkpoint inhibitors(ICIs)has revolutionized oncology;yet liver metastasis has been associated with reduced response rates,progression-free survival,and overall survival in various *** Che-ckMate-649 and KEYNOtE-859 trials demonstrated promising results with ICIs in advanced GC,particularly in patients with liver ***,a meta-analysis of liver metastatic solid tumors revealed worse outcomes with ICIs,high-lighting the need for further *** combined therapies,including ICIs with local treatments,show promise in improving outcomes,the nuanced landscape of ICIs in liver metastatic GC necessitates continued research for robust *** current contradictions in the literature underscore the impor-tance of cautious interpretation and the exploration of tailored approaches to enhance clinical efficacy in this challenging patient population.

AIM:to investigate tomographic features of late corneal ectasia after keratoplasty for keratoconus and compare penetrating keratoplasty(PK)and deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty(DALK)in terms of incidence,time of onset and risk factors of corneal ***:Sixty eyes with PK and 30 eyes with DALK operated between 1999 and 2021 were *** Pentacam scans were evaluated together with vision and previous *** outcome measures were vision,K values,apparent thinning on graft-host cornea and the difference between opposing quadrants in the thinnest point *** segment optic coherence tomography was performed for further ***:Mean follow-up was 127.2mo(24–282mo)in PK,and 64.3mo(24–144mo)in DALK.K max was higher in DALK(60.6 vs 56.7 D,P=0.012).Inferior recipient was thinner(595.9μm)in PK than DALK(662.2μm,P=0.021),due to longer *** corneal ectasia rate was 20.0%within *** rate was the same(6.7%)in DALK 2/30 and in PK 4/60 in 10y and 13.3%in 12y(4/30 and 8/60,respectively).It increased to 23.3%(14/60)in PK over *** ectasia was not seen before 7y in PK,it could be seen in DALK starting from the 5^(th) *** intervals between keratoplasty and ectasia were 144.5mo in PK and 99mo in *** recipient was significantly thinner in 18 eyes with ectasia(502.7μm)compared to 76 non-ectasia(649.1μm,P=0.000).Inferior graft was thinner(561.0 vs 620.4μm,P=0.006),K max(63.3 vs 56.5 D,P=0.000),and anterior elevation was higher in ectasia(89.1 vs 48.6μm,P=0.002).Accelerated crosslinking was performed on 5 ***:Inferior-superior recipient and inferior graft thinning on tomography,with high K max and anterior elevation emerge as the most reliable criteria for the diagnosis of late *** incidence of corneal ectasia increases with the time.
