A stable anthraquinone-derivative cathode to develop sodium metal batteries: the role of ammoniates as electrolytes

Rechargeable sodium metal batteries constitute a cost-effective option for energy storage although sodium shows some drawbacks in terms of reactivity with organic solvents and dendritic *** we demonstrate that an organic dye,indanthrone blue,behaves as an efficient cathode material for the development of secondary sodium metal batteries when combined with novel inorganic *** electrolytes are ammonia solvates,known as liquid ammoniates,which can be formulated as Nai·3.3NH_(3) and NaBF_(4)·2.5NH_(3).they impart excellent stability to sodium metal,and they favor sodium non-dendritic growth linked to their exceedingly high sodium ion *** advantage is complemented by a high specific *** battery described here can last hundreds of cycles at 10 C while keeping a Coulombic efficiency of 99%from the first *** of the high capacity of the cathode and the superior physicochemical properties of the electrolytes,the battery can reach a specific energy value as high as 210 W h kgiB^(-1),and a high specific power of 2.2 kW kgiB^(-1),even at below room temperature(4℃).importantly,the battery is based on abundant and cost-effective materials,bearing promise for its application in large-scale energy storage.

Prevalence and Factors Associated with Chronic Low Back Pain in the Mining Sector in Burkina Faso

introduction: Low back pain is nowadays a real public health problem in companies. the objective of the study was to determine the prevalence and factors associated with chronic low back pain among workers of a mining company in Burkina Faso. Material and Methods: this was a descriptive and analytical cross-sectional study with a retrospective collection that took place from August 1, 2021 to March 16, 2022 in a gold mine in Burkina Faso. it focused on mine workers who participated in the 2019 annual medical visit. Results: Out of a total workforce of 880 workers who took part in the annual medical visit in 2019, 165 had chronic common low back pain, i.e. a prevalence of 18.75%. the average age of low back pain workers was 37.21 ± 7.5 years. Among the workers suffering from low back pain, 62 (37.58%) held the position of machine operator. Clinically, mechanical pain was found in 113 low back pain workers (76%) and twenty-nine (17.58%) had radicular pain. Standard radiography of the lumbar spine was abnormal in 129 workers (78.18%. in the univariate analysis, the factors associated with the pathology were sex, level of study, work station and seniority in the position. After a logistic regression, the factors associated with its occurrence were whole-body vibration (Fisher’s test = 12.7541;P = 0.000), male sex (Fisher’s test = 8.363;P = 0.004), and seniority for 4 to 5 years (Chi2 = 4.0234;p = 0.046). Conclusion: the study reveals the existence of chronic low back pain cases among the workers of the mining company. there is a predominance of the pathology in men, workers exposed to vibrations and those with a seniority of 4 to 5 years. it is necessary to establish a policy of prevention of low back pain for the benefit of workers, in particular those exposed to vibrations.

the Sword of damocles behind the Curtain of the Earth’s Global Warming: A Review

the “mainstream” climatology (MSC)—i.e. which includes the intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (iPCC) community—considers the present day massive release of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere as the main cause of the current global warming trend. the main inference from this stance is that the increase in temperature must occur after the release of greenhouse gases originating from the anthropic activities. However, no scientific evidence has been provided for this basic notion. Earth paleoclimatic records document the antecedence of temperature over CO2 levels. For the past 65 Ma, the temperature parameter has controlled the subsequent increase in CO2. this includes the three rapid aberrant shifts and extreme climate transients at 55 Ma, 34 Ma, and 23 Ma REF _Ref159913672 \r \h \* MERGEFORMAt [1]. the simple fact of their existence points to the potential for highly nonlinear responses in climate forcing. Whatever these shifts and transients are, CO2 remains a second order parameter in their evolution through time. Confronted with the past, a suitable response must therefore be given to the unresolved question of whether the CO2 trends precede the temperature trends in the current period, or not. the assertion that the current global warming is anthropogenic in origin implicitly presupposes a change of paradigm, with the consequence (the increase in CO2 levels) that occurred in Earth’s past being positioned as the cause of the warming for its present day climatic evolution. the compulsory assumption regarding the antecedence of CO2 levels over the temperature trends is associated with the haziness of the methodological framework—i.e. the paradigm—and tightens the research fields on the likely origins of global warming. the possible involvement of an “aberrant” natural event, hidden behind the massive release of greenhouse gases, has not been considered by the MSC.

Loco-regional recurrences and distant metastases represent the main cause of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma(HNSCC) mortality. the overexpression of chemokine receptor 4(CXCR4) in HNSCC primary tumors associates with higher risk of developing loco-regional recurrences and distant metastases, thus making CXCR4 an ideal entry pathway for targeted drug delivery. in this context, our group has generated the self-assembling protein nanocarrier t22-GFP-H6, displaying multiple t22 peptidic ligands that specifically target CXCR4. this study aimed to validate t22-GFP-H6 as a suitable nanocarrier to selectively deliver cytotoxic agents to CXCR4^(+)tumors in a HNSCC model. Here we demonstrate that t22-GFP-H6 selectively internalizes in CXCR4^(+)HNSCC cells, achieving a high accumulation in CXCR4^(+)tumors in vivo, while showing negligible nanocarrier distribution in non-tumor bearing organs. Moreover, this t22-empowered nanocarrier can incorporate bacterial toxin domains to generate therapeutic nanotoxins that induce cell death in CXCR4-overexpressing tumors in the absence of histological alterations in normal organs. Altogether, these results show the potential use of this t22-empowered nanocarrier platform to incorporate polypeptidic domains of choice to selectively eliminate CXCR4^(+)cells in HNSCC. Remarkably, to our knowledge, this is the first study testing targeted proteinonly nanoparticles in this cancer type, which may represent a novel treatment approach for HNSCC patients.

Genomic Profile of SARS-COV-2 Associated with COVid-19 Outbreaks in N’djamena, Chad

Background: SARS-CoV-2 has circulated worldwide with dramatic consequences. in Chad, we have no data reported of variants. the aim of this study was to identify the SARS-CoV-2 variants that circulated during the epidemic from 2020 to 2021. Methods: this is a cross-sectional, descriptive study carried out between 2020 and 2021. Samples from patients with suspected COVid-19 were tested in five laboratories in N’djamena. One hundred quality samples of the positives were sequenced in Kinshasa using Oxford nanopore technologies minion and the Protocol Midnight SARS-CoV2. data were processed using Excel version 16 software. Results: Of the 100 samples sequenced, 77 (77%) produced sequences, 23 (23%) did not. the genomic profiles were wild-type Wuhan and minor mutations (19A, 19B (A), 20A (B.1, B.2), 20B (AV.1), 20d (B.1.1.1 /C.36), 20C), variant of concern Alpha (20i), variant of concern delta (21A/J), variant of interest Eta (21d), variant of concern Omicron (21K) and unclassified variant under surveillance (B.1.640). Of these variants, the maximums were detected in patients aged 26 - 35 with 30.26% and 25.26% in 36 - 45. However, 24.67% were in travelers and 75.32% in residents, 35.06% in those vaccinated against COVid-19 and 62.33% in non-vaccinates. the estimated case-fatality rate was 2.44% (107/4374). Conclusion: this work has provided preliminary data on COVid-19 and SARS-CoV-2 variants circulating during the 2020-2021 epidemics in Chad.

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease with a strong genetic background and is triggered by environmental *** evidence supports Cd6,a lymphocyte surface receptor mostly expressed by t cells,as a putative target in ***,a humanized anti-Cd6 antibody has been assayed for the treatment of certain autoimmune disorders,including ***,we present novel evidence in mice and humans for a direct involvement of Cd6 in psoriasis ***,an attenuated form of imiquimod-induced psoriasis-like skin inflammation was demonstrated in Cd6-deficient mice,as deduced from lower epidermal thickness and local reduced production of pro-inflammatory cytokines,namely,***,isolated Cd4+Cd62L+t cells from Cd6-deficient mice displayed decreased in vitro t-helper type 17 ***,a statistically significant association between Cd6 single-nucleotide polymorphisms(rs17824933,rs11230563 and rs12360861)and more severe forms of psoriasis was demonstrated in a cohort of 304 patients at three public hospitals from the metropolitan area of *** together,these results provide new supportive evidence of the contribution of the Cd6 lymphocyte receptor in psoriasis at both experimental and clinical levels.

the present study focuses on the formulation of new composite consisting of plaster and raffia vinifera particle (RVP) with the purpose to reducing energy consumption. the aim of this study is to test this new compound as an insulating eco-material in building in a tropical climate. the composites samples were developed by mixing plaster with raffia vinifera particles (RVP) using three different sizes (1.6 mm, 2.5 mm and 4 mm). the effects of four different RVP incorporations rates (i.e., 0wt%, 5wt%;10wt%;15wt%) on physical, thermal, mechanicals properties of the composites were investigated. in addition, the use of the raffia vinifera particles and plaster based composite material as building envelopes thermal insulation material is studied by the habitable cell thermal behavior instrumentation. the results indicate that the incorporation of raffia vinifera particle leads to improve the new composite physical, mechanical and thermal properties. And the parametric analysis reveals that the sampling rate and the size of raffia vinifera particles are the most decisive factor to impact these properties, and to decreases in the thermal conductivity which leads to an improvement to the thermal resistance and energy savings. the best improvement of plaster composite was obtained at the raffia vinifera particles size between 2.5 and 4.0 mm loading of 5wt% (C95P5R) with a good ratio of thermo-physical-mechanical properties. Additionally, the habitable cell experimental thermal behavior, with the new raffia vinifera particles and plaster-based composite as thermal insulating material for building walls, gives an average damping of 4°C and 5.8°C in the insulated house interior environment respectively for cold and hot cases compared to the outside environment and the uninsulated house interior environment. the current study highlights that this mixture gives the new composite thermal insulation properties applicable in the eco-construction of habitats in tropical environments
