Excessive heavy metal concentrations in water can pose a threat to human *** research analyzed 160 groundwater samples used for hygiene and sanitation,of which 62 were used for consumption,and 98 other types of drinking water were *** research findings indicate that 6%of groundwater for hygiene and sanitation and 13%of drinking water(7.8%groundwater,5.2%refill water)were deemed unfit for use due to elevated concentrations of certain heavy metals surpassing the maximum ***,Cd,Co,Hg,Mn,and Pb were detected in several drinking water samples deemed unsuitable for *** heavy metals suspected to originate from natural sources are Co,Fe,Mn,As,and Zn,while Pb,Cd,Hg,and Co are suspected to have anthropogenic *** arsenic exposure through the ingestion pathway posed a non-carcinogenic health risk to the local *** were found to be more susceptible than adult males and *** estimated average non-carcinogenic risk levels based on the water sources were refill water>well water>rainwater>spring ***,it is essential to monitor raw water sources at refill water depots in the study area and implement policies related to the quality of raw water sources,technology maintenance processes,and the quality of processed water from refill water ***,the community should be educated about householdscale water treatment to minimize health risks and consider using untreated well water and rainwater for consumption.

Piezoelectric resonant de-icing systems are attracting great *** paper aims to assess the implementation of these systems at the aircraft *** article begins with the model to compute the power requirement of a piezoelectric resonant de-icing system sized from the prototype detailed in Part 1/2 of this *** the mass,drag,and fuel consumption of this system and the subcomponents needed for its implementation are *** features of a piezoelectric resonant de-icing system are finally computed for aircraft similar to Airbus A320 aircraft and aircraft of different categories(Boeing 787,ATR 72 and TBM 900)and compared with the existing thermal and mechanical ice protection systems.A sensitivity analysis of the main key sizing parameters of the piezoelectric de-icing system is also performed to identify the main axes of improvement for this *** study shows the potential of such ice protection *** particular,for the realistic input parameters chosen in this work,the electro-mechanical solution can provide a 54% reduction in terms of mass and a 92% reduction in terms of power consumption for an A320 aircraft architecture,leading to a 74% decrease in the associated fuel consumption compared to the actual air bleed system.

In this paper,we present a probabilistic numerical method for a class of forward utilities in a stochastic factor *** this purpose,we use the representation of forward utilities using the ergodic Backward Stochastic Differential Equations(eBSDEs)introduced by Liang and Zariphopoulou in[27].We establish a connection between the solution of the ergodic BSDE and the solution of an associated BSDE with random terminal time T,defined as the hitting time of the positive recurrent stochastic *** viewpoint based on BSDEs with random horizon yields a new characterization of the ergodic cost^which is a part of the solution of the *** particular,for a certain class of eBSDEs with quadratic generator,the Cole-Hopf transformation leads to a semi-explicit representation of the solution as well as a new expression of the ergodic cost>.The latter can be estimated with Monte Carlo *** also propose two new deep learning numerical schemes for ***,we present numerical results for different examples of eBSDEs and forward utilities together with the associated investment strategies.

This paper proposes a numerical method to analyze the ice protection capability and predict the power requirements of a piezoelectric resonant de-icing *** method is based on a coupled electro-mechanical finite element analysis which enables the fast computation of the modes of resonance of interest to de-ice curved surfaces and the estimation of the input voltage and current required for a given configuration(defined by its mode,actuator location,ice deposit,etc.).Eventually,the electric power to be supplied can be also *** method is applied to a NACA 0024 leading edge equipped with piezoelectric ***,two extension modes are analyzed and compared with respect to their efficiency and power ***,tests are carried out in an icing tunnel to verify the effectiveness of the piezoelectric ice protection system and the predictions of the maximal required *** system allows de-icing the leading edge in less than 2 s for a glaze ice deposit.

Application of organic fertilizer for improving soybean production under acidic stress

The presence of acidic soil in rural areas poses difficulties for agricultural *** factor regulating soil pH is the overuse of inorganic *** increased use of fertilizers in soybean production not only raises sustainability concerns but also contributes to soil ***,the use of organic fertilizer could offer a solution for addressing both issues related to soil acidity and *** purpose of this study was to investigate the manipulation of soil pH using organic fertilizer for soybean production under acidic *** planting medium,consisting of a mixture of topsoil,rice husk charcoal,and organic fertilizer(in a ratio of 2:1:1),was supplemented with 0.5 g of NPK fertilizer as a basal treatment in each planting *** regulate the soil acidity to pH 4,we added FeSO_(4) and allowed the mixture to incubate for 30 *** results demonstrate that the application of three types of organic fertilizers chicken manure(P1),oil palm empty bunch fertilizer(P2),and vermicompost(P3)positively impacts the growth of three soybean *** findings indicate that the application of P2 organic fertilizer can increase vegetative growth almost 50%in soybeans on acidic soil,including plant height,leaf count,and root ***,applying P3 organic fertilizer can boost reproductive growth responses in soybeans on acidic soil,such as pod number(from around 0-4 unit to 42-51 unit),grain number(from around 0-5 unit to 88-90 unit),and grain weight(from around 0-0.37 g to 12-25 g).Organic fertilizer has the potential to regulate soil pH,promoting higher yields of soybeans under acidic stress.

Synchronized off-harmonic probe laser with highly variable pulse duration for laser-plasma interaction experiments

This paper presents the development and experimental utilization of a synchronized off-harmonic laser system designed as a probe for ultra-intense laser±plasma interaction experiments. The system exhibits a novel seed-generation design,allowing for a variable pulse duration spanning over more than three orders of magnitude, from 3.45 picoseconds to 10 nanoseconds. This makes it suitable for various plasma diagnostics and visualization techniques. In a side-view configuration, the laser was employed for interferometry and streaked shadowgraphy of a laser-induced plasma while successfully suppressing the self-emission background of the laser±plasma interaction, resulting in a signal-to-self-emission ratio of 110 for this setup. These properties enable the probe to yield valuable insights into the plasma dynamics and interactions at the PHELIX facility and to be deployed at various laser facilities due to its easy-to-implement design.

The relativistic binary-encounter-Bethe model with Wannier-type threshold law is employed to obtain the inner-shell ionization cross sections of multi-electron atoms(Ni,Cu,Y,Ag,Au,Yb,Ta,and Pb)for positron impact energies from the thresholds up to 105ke *** is good agreement between the present calculations and the experimental *** constant in the acceleration term derived from the Wannier law is determined to be 0.2 and 0.5 for the K-and L-shells,respectively.

Numerical study on waste polyethylene pyrolysis driven by self-sustaining smoldering

Polyethylene is the type of waste plastic that accounts for the most significant proportion of municipal solid *** polyethylene can be valorized via pyrolysis and produce value-added oil,gas,and *** the other hand,self-sustaining smoldering is an emerging technical means to deal with sand/soil contaminated by organic *** high-temperature heat generated by smoldering can be used as a heat source for pyrolyzing waste ***,this study investigates numerically the pyrolysis of waste polyethylene driven by self-sustaining smoldering.A novel 4-step lumped kinetic model is proposed for simulating the pyrolysis of waste *** results indicate that the operating parameters can determine the pyrolysis product yields by regulating the pyrolysis temperature and the volatile residence *** that higher temperatures and longer residence times favor the generation of shorter-chain pyrolysis products because of the intensified volatiles’secondary *** can be concluded that a high interface-wall heat transfer coefficient(400 W m^(-2)K^(-1)),a low PE content(0.20),a high char concentration(2.4%),and a moderate air velocity(0.040 m s^(-1))are beneficial to oil *** some extent,this study may broaden the boundaries for the application of self-sustained smoldering-driven pyrolysis.

Flow Injection Analysis Technique for Online Preconcentration of Lead Ions in Airborne Particulate Matter Using Imprinted Polymer as the Sorbent

This work reported a simple and sensitive flow injection analysis(FIA)technique coupled with a Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer(FAAS)for online preconcentration of lead(Ⅱ)ions in the airborne particulate matter samples(PM_(2.5))using ion-imprinted polymers as adsorbent packed in minicolumn.A bulk polymerization method was chosen to synthesize the polymer based on a ternary complex of lead ions with 4-2-pyridilazo resorcinol and 4-vinyl pyridine with methacrylic acid as a functional *** optimum pH for sorption was 6,and other variables for the FIA system were optimized,including breakthrough volume,eluent concentration,and eluent *** optimum conditions were reached with a breakthrough volume of 4.45 mL,calculated as a dynamic retention capacity of 5.20 mg/g of Pb(II)40 mg/L,with a 1.5 mL/min flow *** eluent used for the FIA system was 0.5 mL HNO_(3)of 3 mol/***,precision,and limits of detection of the FIA system were determined before being applied to preconcentration and analysis of lead ions in PM_(2.5)*** precision of the method was determined to be 3.09%by calculating the coefficients of the *** of the method in the concentration range of 50-1000μg/L gave a coefficient correlation of 0.9925,showing a good response,and the limit of detection of the system was 5.11μg/L,better than that of the FAAS *** of the FIA system were evaluated and showed good results with an enrichment factor of more than 20 times higher and a concentration efficiency of 11.65 min^(-1)with a consumptive index of 4.5 *** and analysis of the PM_(2.5)samples in Bandung City showed the concentrations of Pb(II)were 26.67μg/L and 33.3μg/L with the accuracy of the method for each sample of104.75%and 107.86%.
