Modelling of Sorghum (<i>Sorghum bicolor</i>) Growing Areas under Current and Future Climate in the Sudanian and Sahelian Zones of Mali

Climatic variability is one of the main constraints of agriculture in Mali, which will certainly affect long-term sorghum yields. The objective of the present study was to assess the effect of climate variability on sorghum production areas by 2050 in the Sudanian and Sahelian zones of Mali considering three climate scenarios: current scenarios (RCP 2.5), optimistic scenarios (RCP 4.5) and pessimistic scenarios (RCP 8.5). Therefore, 11,010 occurrence points of sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) were collected and associated with the environmental variables of the three climatic scenarios according to the maximum entropy approach (Maxent). Sorghum environmental data and points of occurrence were obtained from AfriClim and GBIF databases, respectively. The correlations carried out and the Jackknife test allowed us to identify variables that contributed more to the performance of the model. Overall, in the Sudanian zone, the suitable area for sorghum production which currently represents 37% of the area of the district of Koulikoro will increase up to 51% by 2050 considering the optimistic scenario (RCP 4.5). Furthermore, considering the pessimistic scenario (RCP 8.5), the suitable zones for sorghum production will experience a decrease of 10%. In the Sahelian zone, the suitable zones for sorghum production that represent 55% of San district area considering the RCP 2.5 scenario will experience a decline of 24% by 2050 considering both the optimistic (RCP 4.5) and pessimistic (RCP 8.5) scenarios. It is suggested to carry out investigations on potential sorghum yield prediction in both study areas in order to identify suitable production areas of the crop in the near future (2050) and long term (2100) as adaptation strategies and resilience of farmers to climate change.

Tyrosine-decahydrofluorene derivatives feature a fused[6.5.6]tricarbocyclic core and a 13-membered para-cyclophane ***,we identified new xenoacremones A,B,and C(1-3)from the fungal strain Xenoacremonium sinensis ML-31 and elucidated their biosynthetic pathway using gene deletion in the native strain and heterologous expression in Aspergillus *** hybrid polyketide synthaseenonribosomal peptide synthetase(PKS-NRPS)XenE together with enoyl reductase XenG were confirmed to be responsible for the formation of the tyrosine-nonaketide *** skeleton was subsequently dehydrated by XenA to afford a pyrrolidinone *** catalyzed a novel sigmatropic rearrangement to yield a key cyclohexane intermediate as a prerequisite for the formation of the multi-ring *** oxidation catalyzed by XenD supplied the substrate for XenC to link the para-cyclophane ether,which underwent subsequent spontaneous Diels-Alder reaction to give the end ***,the results indicated that three novel enzymes XenF,XenD,and XenC coordinate to assemble the[6.5.6]tricarbocyclic ring and para-cyclophane ether during biosynthesis of complex tyrosine-decahydrofluorene derivatives.

The plasma membrane of a cyanobacterial cell is crucial as an energy-transducing membrane as well as is essential for biogenesis of cyanobacterial photosystems. In this study, a proteomic screening of salt-stress proteins using the completely purified plasma membranes of a cyanobacterial strain Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 was carried out. A total of 101 proteins corresponding to 66 different gene products were identified using a combination of two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry coupled to genome database searching. Differential and quantitative analyses of 2-D gel profiles of the plasma membranes isolated from both control and salt-treated cells revealed that 26 proteins were enhanced, induced or diminished

Pristinamycin,produced by Streptomyces pristinaespiralis,which is a streptogramin-like antibiotic consisting of two chemically unrelated components:pristinamycin I(PI)and pristinamycin II(PII),shows potent activity against many antibiotic-resistant ***,so far pristinamycin production titers are still quite low,particularly those of *** this study,we constructed a PI single component producing strain by deleting the PII biosynthetic genes(snaE1 and snaE2).Then,two metabolic engineering approaches,including deletion of the repressor gene papR3 and chromosomal integration of an extra copy of the PI biosynthetic gene cluster(BGC),were employed to improve PI *** final engineered strain DPIIDpapR3/PI produced a maximum PI level of 132 mg/L,with an approximately 2.4-fold higher than that of the parental strain *** *** that the PI biosynthetic genes are clustered in two main regions in the 210 kb“supercluster”containing the PI and PII biosynthetic genes as well as a cryptic polyketide BGC,these two regions were cloned separately and then were successfully assembled into the PI BGC by the transformation-associated recombination(TAR)***,the metabolic engineering approaches employed is very efficient for strain improvement in order to enhance PI titer.

A simple setup using a 365 nm LED coupled to a USB spectrometer through an optical fibre, in a front-face fluorescence configuration, was used to investigate the ability of fluorescence spectroscopy technique to discriminate between varieties of olive oil. To achieve this task, Virgin Olive Oils (VOO) from two major Tunisian olive cultivars known as Chetoui and Chemlali were used. Spectral analysis showed a clear separation between these two VOO varieties. A one-way ANOVA attests that this discrimination is significant. The Principal Components Analyses (PCA) showed that the normalized fluorescence intensities are the good parameters for this discrimination. This observation strengthens the potential of our spectral parameters to perform reliable analysis.

Bacterial cellulose (BC) was ground to make the material suitable for compounding with polylactid acid (PLA). The content of BC in PLA was changed between 5 and 20 wt%. By increasing the BC content of the composite DSC measurements showed an increase of crystallinity (χ c ). Annealing at 90?C resulted in a further increase of χ c . Analysis of the dynamic mechanical behavior showed a sharp decline of the storage module (G’) above the glass transition temperature (T g ) while such a sharp decline did not occur for annealed samples. This indicates that the stiffness of PLA even above T g can be improved by BC and annealing.

Vanilla planifolia, the species cultivated to produce one of the world’s most popular flavors, is highly proneto partial genome endoreplication, which leads to highly unbalanced DNA content in cells. We report herethe first molecular evidence of partial endoreplication at the chromosome scale by the assembly and annotation of an accurate haplotype-phased genome of V. planifolia. Cytogenetic data demonstrated that thediploid genome size is 4.09 Gb, with 16 chromosome pairs, although aneuploid cells are frequentlyobserved. Using PacBio HiFi and optical mapping, we assembled and phased a diploid genome of 3.4 Gbwith a scaffold N50 of 1.2 Mb and 59 128 predicted protein-coding genes. The atypical k-mer frequenciesand the uneven sequencing depth observed agreed with our expectation of unbalanced genome representation. Sixty-seven percent of the genes were scattered over only 30% of the genome, putatively linkinggene-rich regions and the endoreplication phenomenon. By contrast, low-coverage regions (non-endoreplicated) were rich in repeated elements but also contained 33% of the annotated genes. Furthermore, this assembly showed distinct haplotype-specific sequencing depth variation patterns, suggesting complexmolecular regulation of endoreplication along the chromosomes. This high-quality, anchored assemblyrepresents 83% of the estimated V. planifolia genome. It provides a significant step toward the elucidationof this complex genome. To support post-genomics efforts, we developed the Vanilla Genome Hub, a userfriendly integrated web portal that enables centralized access to high-throughput genomic and other omicsdata and interoperable use of bioinformatics tools.

Nematodes play an important role in ecosystems;however,very little is known about their assembly processes and the factors influencing *** studied nematode communities in bulk soils from three Asian mountain ecosystems to determine the assembly processes of free-living nematode metacommunities and their driving *** each mountain,elevations span a range of climatic conditions with the potential to reveal assembly processes that predominate across multiple biomes.A phylogenetic null modeling framework was used to analyze 18S rRNA gene amplicons to quantify various assembly *** found that phylogenetic turnover between nematode communities on all mountains was dominated by stochastic processes,with“undominated processes”being the most predominant stochastic *** has a significant impact on the relative importance of deterministic and stochastic processes.A variety of climatic and edaphic variables significantly influenced the variations in community assembly processes with elevation,even though their impacts were not consistent between the ***,our results indicate that free-living nematode metacommunities in a wide range of environments are largely structured by stochastic processes rather than by niche-based deterministic processes,suggesting that metacommunities of soil free-living nematodes may respond to climate change in a largely unpredictable way.
