BACKGROUND The association between the intestinal microbiota and psychiatric disorders is becoming increasingly apparent.The gut microbiota contributes to colorectal carcinogenesis(CRC),as demonstrated with colibactin-producing Escherichia coli(CoPEC).AIM To evaluate the association between CoPEC prevalence and anxiety-and depressive-like behaviors with both preclinical and clinical approaches.METHODS Patients followed after a CRC surgery and for whom the prevalence of CoPEC has been investigated underwent a psychiatric interview.Results were compared according to the CoPEC colonization.In parallel C57BL6/J wild type mice and mice with a CRC susceptibility were chronically infected with a CoPEC strain.Their behavior was assessed using the Elevated Plus Maze test,the Forced Swimming Test and the Behavior recognition system PhenoTyper®.RESULTS In a limited cohort,all patients with CoPEC colonization presented with psychiatric disorders several years before cancer diagnosis,whereas only one patient(17%)without CoPEC did.This result was confirmed in C57BL6/J wildtype mice and in a CRC susceptibility mouse model(adenomatous polyposis colimultiple intestinal neoplasia/+).Mice exhibited a significant increase in anxiety-and depressive-like behaviors after chronic infection with a CoPEC strain.CONCLUSION This finding provides the first evidence that CoPEC infection can induce microbiota-gut-brain axis disturbances in addition to its procarcinogenic properties.

The reliable estimation of the wavenumber space(k-space)of the plates remains a longterm concern for acoustic modeling and structural dynamic behavior characterization.Most current analyses of wavenumber identification methods are based on the deterministic hypothesis.To this end,an inverse method is proposed for identifying wave propagation characteristics of twodimensional structures under stochastic conditions,such as wavenumber space,dispersion curves,and band gaps.The proposed method is developed based on an algebraic identification scheme in the polar coordinate system framework,thus named Algebraic K-Space Identification(AKSI)technique.Additionally,a model order estimation strategy and a wavenumber filter are proposed to ensure that AKSI is successfully applied.The main benefit of AKSI is that it is a reliable and fast method under four stochastic conditions:(A)High level of signal noise;(B)Small perturbation caused by uncertainties in measurement points’coordinates;(C)Non-periodic sampling;(D)Unknown structural periodicity.To validate the proposed method,we numerically benchmark AKSI and three other inverse methods to extract dispersion curves on three plates under stochastic conditions.One experiment is then performed on an isotropic steel plate.These investigations demonstrate that AKSI is a good in-situ k-space estimator under stochastic conditions.

Application of wave equation theory to improve dynamic cone penetration test for shallow soil characterisation

Among the geotechnical in situ tests,the dynamic penetration test(DPT)is commonly used around the world.However,DPT remains a rough technique and provides only one failure parameter:blow count or cone resistance.This paper presents an improvement of the dynamic cone penetration test(DCPT)for soil characterisation based on the wave equation theory.Implemented on an instrumented lightweight dynamic penetrometer driving with variable energy,the main process of the test involves the separation and reconstruction of the waves propagating in the rods after each blow and provides a dynamic cone load-penetration(DCLT)curve.An analytical methodology is used to analyse this curve and to estimate additional strength and deformation parameters of the soil:dynamic and pseudo-static cone resistances,deformation modulus and wave velocity.Tests carried out in the laboratory on different specimens(wood,concrete,sand and clay)in an experimental sand pit and in the field demonstrated that the resulting DCLT curve is reproducible,sensitive and reliable to the test conditions(rod length,driving energy,etc.)as well as to the soil properties(nature,density,etc.).Obtained results also showed that the method based on shock polar analysis makes it possible to evaluate mechanical impedance and wave velocity of soils,as demonstrated by the comparisons with cone penetration test(CPT)and shear wave velocity measurements made in the field.This technique improves the method and interpretation of DPT and provides reliable data for shallow foundation design.

Metasurfaces are ultrathin optical elements that are highly promising for constructing lightweight and compact optical systems.For their practical implementation,it is imperative to maximize the metasurface efficiency.Topology optimization provides a pathway for pushing the limits of metasurface efficiency;however,topology optimization methods have been limited to the design of microscale devices due to the extensive computational resources that are required.We introduce a new strategy for optimizing large-area metasurfaces in a computationally efficient manner.By stitching together individually optimized sections of the metasurface,we can reduce the computational complexity of the optimization from high-polynomial to linear.As a proof of concept,we design and experimentally demonstrate large-area,high-numerical-aperture silicon metasurface lenses with focusing efficiencies exceeding 90%.These concepts can be generalized to the design of multifunctional,broadband diffractive optical devices and will enable the implementation of large-area,high-performance metasurfaces in practical optical systems.

Poincaréinequality has been studied by Bobkov for radial measures,but few are known about the logarithmic Sobolev inequality in the radial case.We try to fill this gap here using different methods:Bobkov's argument and super-Poincaréinequalities,direct approach via L_(1)-logarithmic Sobolev inequalities.We also give various examples where the obtained bounds are quite sharp.Recent bounds obtained by Lee–Vempala in the log-concave bounded case are refined for radial measures.

The Birimian Baguiomo formations are located in the northern part of the Boromo greenstone belt. In this belt, the volcanic rocks (tholeiitic basalt, calcalkaline basalt, andesite) hosting the gold mineralization are located in the Kwademen-Baguiomo shear zone. This mineralization, located only a few kilometers from the Kwademen gold deposit, is uncharacterized and, together with the latter, could constitute a gold potential capable of being economically exploitable. It is in this sense that this work is carried out with a view to characterizing the gold mineralization of the Baguiomo gold panning site. To carry out this work, we have made direct field measurements, combined with microstructures, and combined all this with data from geochemical rock analysis of the basalts that are the main host formations. Geochemical data show that tholeitic basalts formed from a mantle plume that was emplaced in an oceanic plateau context. Calc-alkaline basalts and andesites are comparable to Paleoproterozoic tholeitic basalts (PTH3), which are slightly enriched in light rare earths. Fertility tests show that these basalts concentrate between 3 and 6 ppb of gold at the time of accretion, which is sufficient for remobilization of this primary gold during the Eburnian orogeny to yield a deposit of around 4 - 5 Moz. Gold mineralization is associated with pyrite crystals when the latter are disseminated in the rock mass, whereas it is associated with hematite in quartz veins concordant with S1 shear deformation. It is mainly the pyrite crystals in the pressure shadows that contain the gold grains, whose development would be synchronous with micro-shear zone reactivation during the first phase of D1B deformation. The second phase of D2B deformation, which is a crenulation or fracture schistosity, does not significantly affect the shear deformation that controls mineralization.

Three heteronuclear Ir^(Ⅲ)-Co^(Ⅱ)arrays,[Co(H_(2)O)6]_(2)[Ir(ppyCOO)(ppyCOOH)(bpy)]_(2)[Ir(ppyCOO)_(2)(bpy)]_(2)(NO_(3))2·10.5H_(2)O(2),[Co(H_(2)O)6]{Co-(H_(2)O)4[Ir(ppyCOO)_(2)(bpy)]_(2)}[Ir(ppyCOO)_(2)(bpy)]2·15H_(2)O(3)and{Co(H_(2)O)2[Ir(ppyCOO)_(2)(bpy)]_(2)}·2CH_(3)OH·3H_(2)O(4),have been synthe-sized by combining paramagnetic Co^(Ⅱ)ion with luminescent Ir^(Ⅲ)-metalloligand,[Ir(ppyCOOH)_(2)(bpy)][Ir(ppyCOO)_(2)(bpy)]·5H_(2)O(1),where ppyCOOH=3-(pyridin-2-yl)benzoic acid and bpy=2,2'-bipyridyl.Owing to the variable charged states of compound 1 at dif-ferent pH,compounds 2 and 3 are discrete ionic complexes containing hydrated Co^(2+)cations and deprotonated[Ir(ppyCOO)_(2)(bpy)]-anions as well as coexisting neutral[Ir(ppyCOO)(ppyCOOH)(bpy)](for 2)or Co(H_(2)O)_(4)[Ir(ppyCOO)_(2)(bpy)]_(2) trinuclear molecule(for 3).Whereas compound 4 consists of self-assembled two-dimensional coordination polymer with Co-metalloligand dative bonds.The hexa-coordinated Co^(Ⅱ)cores in all complexes display octahedral geometries with varying degrees of distortion.In a bias dc field,the ac susceptibilities for 2-4 reveal slow magnetic relaxation.Moreover,the solid-state phosphorescence is observed for compounds 2 and 3 due to weak supramolecular interaction between Co^(Ⅱ)ion and Ir-moiety but is severely quenched for 4,where the Co center is strongly connected to the metalloligand.To the best of our knowledge,this is the first report of Ir-Co systems showing both slow magnetization relaxation and photoluminescence.

A theorem of Lambrechts and Stanley is used to find the rational cohomology of the complement of an embedding S^(4n-1)→ S^(2n)× S^m as a module and demonstrate that it is not necessarily determined by the map induced on cohomology by the embedding, nor is it a trivial extension. This demonstrates that the theorem is an improvement on the classical Lefschetz duality.
