Data compression plays a key role in optimizing the use of memory storage space and also reducing latency in data transmission. In this paper, we are interested in lossless compression techniques because their performance is exploited with lossy compression techniques for images and videos generally using a mixed approach. to achieve our intended objective, which is to study the performance of lossless compression methods, we first carried out a literature review, a summary of which enabled us to select the most relevant, namely the following: arithmetic coding, lZW, tunstall’s algorithm, RlE, BWt, Huffman coding and Shannon-Fano. Secondly, we designed a purposive text dataset with a repeating pattern in order to test the behavior and effectiveness of the selected compression techniques. thirdly, we designed the compression algorithms and developed the programs (scripts) in Matlab in order to test their performance. Finally, following the tests conducted on relevant data that we constructed according to a deliberate model, the results show that these methods presented in order of performance are very satisfactory:- lZW- Arithmetic coding- tunstall algorithm- BWt + RlElikewise, it appears that on the one hand, the performance of certain techniques relative to others is strongly linked to the sequencing and/or recurrence of symbols that make up the message, and on the other hand, to the cumulative time of encoding and decoding.

SAgelogE: A Decision Support System for Students’ Accommodation Management

SAgelogE is the acronym of “Système d’Aide à la gestion de logements étudiants” which means student accommodation management support system. It’s a multi-criteria decision support system designed to manage accommodation allocation for university students. Within SAgelogE we developed the “Minimum of Ranks” (MIRA) aggregation method. MIRA method involves the application of multi-criteria decision-making methods (MCDM) to initially obtain different ranking. thus, we chose the Weighted Sum Method (WSM), technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (tOPSIS) and Combined Compromise Solution (CoCoSo) methods to be implemented in SAgelogE. to prioritize the weights of criteria, the Anality Hierarchy Process (AHP) method was used. the interest of using the MIRA method was to obtain a compromised ranking coming from these three multi-criteria decision-making methods (WSM, tOPSIS, CoCoSo). So, we know that the accommodation to be allocated to students is always lower than the number of accommodation requests received by the organization. thus, SAgelogE proposed a technique that makes it easier to select students ranked by the multi-criteria decision-making and MIRA methods according to a method of calculation of quota of available accommodations within university residences. Finally, university accommodation managers had a wide choice of student ranking according to the methods implemented in SAgelogE. the SAgelogE experiment was carried out on the site of toamasina University in Madagascar for an academic year with 2026 student accommodation applications received. the experimentation showed the ability of SAgelogE to achieve the result.

In this paper we prove in a new way, the well known result, that Fermat’s equation a4 + b4 = c4, is not solvable in ℕ , when abc≠0 . to show this result, it suffices to prove that: ( F 0 ): a 1 4 + ( 2 s b 1 ) 4 = c 1 4 , is not solvable in ℕ , (where a 1 , b 1 , c 1 ∈2ℕ+1 , pairwise primes, with necessarly 2≤s∈ℕ ). the key idea of our proof is to show that if (F0) holds, then there exist α 2 , β 2 , γ 2 ∈2ℕ+1 , such that ( F 1 ): α 2 4 + ( 2 s−1 β 2 ) 4 = γ 2 4 , holds too. From where, one conclude that it is not possible, because if we choose the quantity 2 ≤ s, as minimal in value among all the solutions of ( F 0 ) , then ( α 2 ,2 s−1 β 2 , γ 2 ) is also a solution of Fermat’s type, but with 2≤s−1tch is absurd. to reach such a result, we suppose first that (F0) is solvable in ( a 1 ,2 s b 1 , c 1 ) , s ≥ 2 like above;afterwards, proceeding with “Pythagorician divisors”, we creat the notions of “Fermat’s b-absolute divisors”: ( d b , d ′ b ) which it uses hereafter. then to conclude our proof, we establish the following main theorem: there is an equivalence between (i) and (ii): (i) (F0): a 1 4 + ( 2 s b 1 ) 4 = c 1 4 , is solvable in ℕ , with 2≤s∈ℕ , ( a 1 , b 1 , c 1 )∈ ( 2ℕ+1 ) 3 , coprime in pairs. Impact of languages and Accent on Perceived Speech Quality Predicted by Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality (PESQ) and Perceptual Objective listening Quality Assessment (POlQA): Case of Moore, Dioula, French and English

Perceptual Objective listening Quality Assessment (POlQA) and Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality (PESQ) are commonly used objective standards for evaluating speech quality. These methods were developed and trained on native speakers’ speech sequences of some western languages. One can then wonder how these methods perform if they are applied to other languages or if the speaker is non-native. This paper deals with the evaluation of PESQ and POLQA on languages that were not been considered when setting up these methods, with emphasis on Moore and Dioula, two local languages of Burkina Faso. Another aspect is the evaluation of these two methods in the case of non-native speakers. For this purpose, in the one hand, the Mean Opinion Score-Listening Quality Objective (MOS-LQO) of PESQ and POLQA, computed for Moore and Dioula, are compared to those of French and English. On the second hand, the MOS-LQO scores of French and English are compared for native and non-native speakers, to evaluate the effect of the accent of speakers.

the novel coronavirus has affected all regions of the world,but each country has experienced different rates of *** Africa,in particular,infection rates remain low as compared to other parts of the *** heterogeneity in the spread of COVID-19 raises a lot of questions that are still ***,some studies point out that people's mobility,size of gatherings,rate of testing,and weather have a great impact on the COVID-19 *** this work,we first evaluate the correlation between meteorological parameters and COVID-19 cases using Spearman's rank ***,multi-output gaussian processes(MOgP)are used to predict the daily confirmed COVID-19 cases by exploring its relationships with meteorological *** number of daily reported COVID-19 cases,as well as,weather variables collected from March 9,2020,to October 18,2021,were used in the *** weather variables considered in the analysis are the mean temperature,relative humidity,wind direction,insolation,precipitation,and wind *** predicting model was constructed exploiting the correlation between the data of the daily confirmed COVID-19 cases and data of the weather *** results show that a significant correlation between the daily confirmed COVID-19 cases was found with humidity,wind direction,wind speed,and *** parameters are used to construct the predictive model using the Multi-Output gaussian process(MOgP).Different combinations of the data of meteorological parameters together with the data of daily reported COVID-19 cases were used to derive different *** found that the best predictor is obtained using the combination of Humidity and *** model is then used to predict the daily confirmed COVID-19 cases knowing the humidity and Insolation.

Application of Machine learning Methods on Climate Data and Commercial Microwave link Attenuations for Estimating Meteorological Visibility in dusty Condition

Accurately measuring meteorological visibility is an important factor in road, sea, rail, and air transportation safety, especially under visibility-reducing weather events. this paper deals with the application of Machine learning methods to estimate meteorological visibility in dusty conditions, from the power levels of commercial microwave links and weather data including temperature, dew point, wind speed, wind direction, and atmospheric pressure. three well-known Machine learning methods are investigated: Decision trees, Random Forest, and Support Vector Machines. the correlation coefficient and the mean square error, between the visibility distances estimated by Machine learning methods and those provided by Burkina Faso weather services are computed. Except for the SVM method, all the other methods give a correlation coefficient greater than 0.90. the Random Forest method presents the best result both in terms of correlation coefficient (0.97) and means square error (0.60). For this last method, the best variables that explain the model are selected by evaluating the weight of each variable in the model. the best performance is obtained by considering the attenuation of the microwave signal and the dew point.

topology reduction through machine learning to accelerate dynamic simulation of district heating

District heating networks (DHNs) provide an efficient heat distribution solution in urban areas, accomplished through interconnected and insulated pipes linking local heat sources to local consumers. this efficiency is further enhanced by the capacity of these networks to integrate renewable heat sources and thermal storage systems. However, integration of these systems adds complexity to the physical dynamics of the network, necessitating complex dynamic simulation models. these dynamic physical simulations are computationally expensive, limiting their adoption, particularly in large-scale networks. to address this challenge, we propose a methodology utilizing Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) to reduce the computational time associated with the DHNs dynamic simulations. Our approach consists in replacing predefined clusters of substations within the DHNs with trained surrogate ANNs models, effectively transforming these clusters into single nodes. this creates a hybrid simulation framework combining the predictions of the ANNs models with the accurate physical simulations of remaining substation nodes and pipes. We evaluate different architectures of Artificial Neural Network on diverse clusters from four synthetic DHNs with realistic heating demands. Results demonstrate that ANNs effectively learn cluster dynamics irrespective of topology or heating demand levels. through our experiments, we achieved a 27% reduction in simulation time by replacing 39% of consumer nodes while maintaining acceptable accuracy in preserving the generated heat powers by sources.

Motor Imagery and Error Related Potential Induced Position Control of a Robotic Arm

the paper introduces an electroencephalography(EEg) driven online position control scheme for a robot arm by utilizing motor imagery to activate and error related potential(ErrP) to stop the movement of the individual links, following a fixed(pre-defined) order of link selection. the right(left)hand motor imagery is used to turn a link clockwise(counterclockwise) and foot imagery is used to move a link forward. the occurrence of ErrP here indicates that the link under motion crosses the visually fixed target position, which usually is a plane/line/point depending on the desired transition of the link across 3D planes/around 2D lines/along 2D lines respectively. the imagined task about individual link's movement is decoded by a classifier into three possible class labels: clockwise, counterclockwise and no movement in case of rotational movements and forward, backward and no movement in case of translational movements. One additional classifier is required to detect the occurrence of the ErrP signal, elicited due to visually inspired positional link error with reference to a geometrically selected target position. Wavelet coefficients and adaptive autoregressive parameters are extracted as features for motor imagery and ErrP signals respectively. Support vector machine classifiers are used to decode motor imagination and ErrP with high classification accuracy above 80%. the average time taken by the proposed scheme to decode and execute control intentions for the complete movement of three links of a robot is approximately33 seconds. the steady-state error and peak overshoot of the proposed controller are experimentally obtained as 1.1% and4.6% respectively.
