Revisiting and Rethinking Regional Urbanization in Changjiang River Delta,China

China is entering a critical and accelerating phase of *** one of the most urbanized regions in China,the Changjiang(Yangtze)River Delta has experienced dramatic urbanization and urban ***,in the recent years,many changes have taken place in this region and there is limited attention to the regional urbanization path evolution,its problems and the way to solve these ***,we should revisit the urbanization process in the Changjiang River Delta *** this paper,we revisited urbanization paths of the Changjiang River Delta by data analysis,influence factors of urbanization by the Gray Relational Analysis,and major challenges to urbanization of the Changjiang River Delta by theoretical *** found that the urbanization of the Changjiang River Delta had experienced several stages of large-scale spatial and urban system *** the Changjiang River Delta,Shanghai,Zhejiang and Jiangshu had experienced different urbanization path with local *** with their development model gradually converging,their urbanization model is also *** also found that the major influence factors affecting the Changjiang River Delta urbanization were dynamic change and urbanization was driven by different key factors in different socio-economic development ***,the Changjiang River Delta urbanization is facing many problems such as existing institutional arrangements,including the hukou(household registration)system and others which can not meet the needs of current socioeconomic development and ***,it is imperative to promote institutional innovation and adopt a new urbanization development strategy for the sake of the orderly and sustainable urbanization development in the Changjiang River Delta.

NONLINEAR THEORY OF DYNAMIC STABILITY FOR LAMINATED COMPOSITE CYLINDRICAL SHELLS

Hamilton principle war used to derive the general governing equations of nonlinear dynamic stability far laminated cylindrical shell in which, factors of nonlinear large deflection, transverse shear and longitudinal inertia force were concluded. Equations were salved by variational method. Analysis reveals that under the action of dynamic load, laminated cylindrical shells will fall into a store of parametric resonance and enter into the dynamic unstable region that causes dynamic instability of shells. Laminated shells of three typical composites were computed : i.e. T300/5 208 graphite epoxy E-glass epoxy, and ARALL shells. Results show that all factors will induce important influence for dynamic stability of laminated shell. So, in research of dynamic stability for laminated shells, to consider these factors is important.

ArchSim:A System-Level Parallel Simulation Platform for the Architecture Design of High Performance Computer

High performance computer （HPC） is a complex huge system, of which the architecture design meets increasing difficulties and risks. Traditional methods, such as theoretical analysis, component-level simulation and sequential simulation, are not applicable to system-level simulations of HPC systems. Even the parallel simulation using large-scale parallel machines also have many difficulties in scalability, reliability, generality, as well as efficiency. According to the current needs of HPC architecture design, this paper proposes a system-level parallel simulation platform： ArchSim. We first introduce the architecture of ArchSim simulation platform which is composed of a global server （GS）, local server agents （LSA） and entities. Secondly, we emphasize some key techniques of ArchSim, including the synchronization protocol, the communication mechanism and the distributed checkpointing/restart mechanism. We then make a synthesized test of some main performance indices of ArchSim with the phold benchmark and analyze the extra overhead generated by ArchSim. Finally, based on ArchSim, we construct a parallel event-driven interconnection network simulator and a system-level simulator for a small scale HPC system with 256 processors. The results of the performance test and HPC system simulations demonstrate that ArchSim can achieve high speedup ratio and high scalability on parallel host machine and support system-level simulations for the architecture design of HPC systems.

Potential of the neonicotinoid imidacloprid and the oxadiazine indoxacarb for controlling five coleopteran pests of stored grain

The potential for using imidacloprid （a neonicotinoid） and indoxacarb （an oxadiazine） as grain protectants was investigated in bioassays against resistant strains of five stored grain beetles. The species investigated were Rhyzopertha dominica （E）（the lesser grain borer）, Sitophilus oryzae （L.）（the rice weevil）, Tribolium castaneum （Herbst）（the rust-red flour beetle）, Oryzaephilus surinamensis （L.）（the saw tooth flour beetle）, and Cryptolestesferrugineus （Stephens）（the fiat grain beetle）. Each of these species has developed resistance to one or more protectants, including organophosphorus insecticides, synthetic pyrethroids and the juvenile hormone analogue methoprene. Mortality and re- production after a 2-week exposure of adults to treated wheat depended on species, dose and insecticide. Imidacloprid had no effect on S. oryzae at any dose, but none of the other species produced any live progeny at 10 mg/kg. Indoxacarb had no effect on T. castaneum at any dose, but none of the other species produced any live progeny at 5 mg/kg. The results show that although both imidacloprid and indoxacarb can control at least four of the five key pests tested at doses comparable to those used for organophosphorus protectants, more potent neonicotinoid or oxadiazine insecticides would be needed than either of these to provide broad spectrum protection of stored grain .

Evaluation of acute and subacute toxicity of whole-plant aqueous extract of Vernonia mespilifolia Less. in Wistar rats

Objective： This study investigated the acute and subacute toxicity of whole-plant aqueous extract of Vernonia mespilifolia Less. （AEVM） in rats for evaluating its safety profile. Methods： AEVM for the acute （2000 and 5000 mg/kg） and subacute （200, 400 and 600 mg/kg） toxicity studies was administered orally to rats according the guidelines 425 and 407 of Organization for economic Cooperation and development, respectively. Food and water intake as well as body and organ weight of animals were recorded. Signs of toxicity were assessed, and hematological, biochemical and histopathological analyses were performed. Results： In the acute toxicity study, a single dose of the aqueous extract at 2000 or 5000 mg/kg caused no mortality in the animals, suggesting that the median lethal dose is greater than 5000 mg/kg. In the subacute toxicity study, administration of the extract for 28 d, at all doses, caused no significant changes in the body weights or organ weights of rats in the treated groups when compared with the control group. In addition, hematological and biochemical parameters also revealed no toxic effects of the extract on rats. Histological sections of the heart, liver and kidney from test animals showed no signs of degen- eration. Conclusion： These results showed that AEVM at dosage levels up to 600 mg/kg is nontoxic and could also offer protection on some body tissues. AEVM could, therefore, be considered safe.

A method of determining nonlinear large strain consolidation parameters of dredged clays

A method of obtaining the large strain consolidation parameters of dredged clays considering the influence of the initial water content is investigated in this study. According to the test results of remolded clays with high initial water contents reported by Hong et al. （2010）, a relationship between the void ratio （e） and effective stress （a3 is established. Furthermore, based on the available permeability data from the literature, a new relationship between the permeability coefficient （k） and the ratio （e/eL） of the void ratio to the void ratio at the liquid limit （eL） is proposed. The new proposed expression considering the initial water content improves the e-k equation established by Nagaraj et al. （1994）. Finally, the influence of the initial void ratio and effective stress on the large strain consolidation coefficient g（e） defined by Gibson et al. （1981） and k/（1 ＋e） in large strain analysis is discussed. The results show that, under a constant effective stress, the value of k/（1 ＋e） increases with the initial void ratio. The large strain consolidation coefficient shows the law of segmentation change, which decreases with the increase of the effective stress when the effective stress is less than the remolded yield stress, but increases rapidly with the effective stress when the effective stress is larger than the remolded yield stress.

Tanshinone prevents cancellous bone loss induced by ovariectomy in rats

AIM: To investigate the skeletal effects of total tanshinone in ovariectomized rats by analyzing cancellous bonehistomorphometry of fourth lumbar vertebrae (LV4) and proximal tibial metaphyses (PTM). METHODS: Four-month-old Sprague-Dawley female rats were sham-operated and treated with vehicle or ovariectomized and treatedwith either vehicle, total tanshinone (200 mgkg-1d-1, equivalent to 35 gkg-1d-1 of tanshinone II A and 16 mgkg -1d-1 ofcryptotanshinone), or 17a-ethynylestradiol (30 gkg-1d-1 as positive treatment group) starting one day post-sur-gery for 10 weeks. Double in vivo fluorochrome labeling was administered to all rats. The undecalcified longitu-dinal LV4 and PTM sections were cut and stained with Goldners Trichrome (4-m thickness) or unstained (8-mthickness) for the bone histomorphometric analysis. RESULTS: A significant decrease in trabecular bone volume(BV/TV) and trabecular number (Tb.N) and a significant increase in osteoclast surface (OCS/BS) and mineralizingsurface (MS/BS) were found in both LV and PTM of vehicle-treated OVX rats compared with sham *** completely prevented the decreases in BV/TV and Tb.N and the increase in OCS/BS in the LV4, andpartially prevented the decreases in BV/TV and Tb.N in the PTM of OVX rats. In addition, tanshinone increasedtrabecular thickness (***) whereas it did not alter MS/BS. Moreover, tanshinone had no effect on uterine weightand body weight of OVX rats. Estrogen treatment increased BV/TV and Tb.N and decreased OCS/BS, but, alsomarkedly decreased MS/BS and increased uterine weight in OVX rats. CONCLUSION: The current study demon-strated that the adequate supply of tanshinone prevented OVX-induced cancellous bone loss in rats through inhibi-tion of elevated bone resorption.

Numerical Simulation of Wave Interaction with Perforated Caisson Breakwaters

The volume of fluid (VOF) method is presented to determine the reflection coefficient of and the total horizontal wave force on perforated caisson breakwaters. The present numerical model is compared with a linear analytic solution obtained by Sahoo et al. (2000). Also this model is verified with the authors′ laboratory data. It is found that the numerical model is in good agreement with the regression equations obtained from the experimental data. The present numerical method is further discussed to relate porosity, the relative wave absorbing chamber depth, the reflection coefficient of perforated caissons and the total horizontal force on them.
