Effect of Initialization Technical Parameters on Optical Absorption of Ge_2Sb_2Te_5 Thin Films

The optical absorption properties of phase-change optical recording thin films subjected to various initialization conditions were investigated. The effects of initialization power and velocity on optical constants of the Ge2Sb2Te5 thin films were also studied. The energy gap of Ge2Sb2Te5 thin films subjected to various initialization conditions was also obtained. It was found that the optical energy gap of the Ge2Sb2Te5 thin films increased with either increasing initialization laser power or decreasing initialization velocity, with peak of 0.908 eV at laser power of 1000 mW or initialization velocity of 4.0 m/s, but the continued increasing initialization laser power or decreasing initialization velocity resulted in the decrease of the optical energy gap. The change of the optical energy gap was discussed on the basis of amorphous crystalline transformation.

The Yb3+/Er3+ doped TeO2-WO3-ZnO glasses were prepared. The absorption spectra, emission spectra and fluorescence lifetime of Er3+ at 1.5 um, excited by 970 nm were measured. The influence of Er2O3, Yb2O3 and OH-contents on emission properties of Er3+ at 1.5μm was investigated. The optimum doping concentrations for Er3+ and Yb3+ is around 3.34×1020 ions/cm3 and 6.63×1020 ions/cm3, respectively. The peak emission cross section is 0.83~0.87 pm2. With the increasing concentration of Yb3+, the FWHM of Er3+ emission at 1.5μm in the glass increases from 77 nm to 83 nm. The results show that Yb3+/Er3+ doped TeO2-WO3-ZnO glasses are promising candidate for Er3+-doped broadband optical amplifier.

TeO_x thin films were prepared by vacuum evaporation of TeO_2 powder. Structural characteristic and surface mor-phology of the as-deposited films was analyzed by using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometer and atomic force microscopy. It was found that the films represented a two component system comprising Te particies dispersed in an amorphous TeO2 matrix. The dispersed Te particies were in a crystalline state. The TeOx films showed a finely granular structure and a rough surface. Results of the statie recording test showed that the TeO_x films had good writing sensitivity for short-wavelength laser beam (514.5 nm). Primary results of the dynamic test at 514.5 nm were also reported. The TeO_x films were suitable for using as a blue-green wavelength high density optical storage medium.

A method of designing guided chain drive mech.nism with linkage basing on the given motion track is expounded. The method consists of two steps that are synthesizing four bar linkage approximately first and then deducing guide track, removing crank and jointing free end with chain. An example of synthesis that can realize the given motion track precisely is provided.

After laser quenching and tempering of three kinds of annealed tool high-speed steel(W18Cr-4V, W9Mo3Cr4V1, W6Mo5Cr4V2) test samples, the microhardness measurer was used to test the samples and some problems, such as the hardness and depth of hardening-quenching layer were analyzed. Furthermore, after laser quenching and tempering of the quenched and three-time tempered high-speed steel (W18Cr4V) and its hardness analyzing, different results of laser-quenching samples were obtained under different initial heat-treating.

A fiber-based scanning optical microscope using fiber directional coupler is presented in this paper. One 2 × 2 single-mode coupler is used to launch the laser into microscope and to detect the image signal, which makes the system compact. This new style microscope does confocal imaging and appears a strong optical-sectioning effect. Based on the 3-D coherent transfer function theory the axial and lateral properties are calculated and measured by a perfect-reflection planar object.

A binary image algebra with one operation of a logic operation followed by a dilation and its modification with three additional operations for threshold processing of grey level images are developed in this paper. All the binary image processing functions and various grey level image processing functions related to morphological operations can be represented by the algebraic structure. The algebra is particularly suitable for parallel processing by optics in a cellular logic image processor architecture.
