Perceived Social Support and Symptoms of Depression and Anxiety among Chinese Adolescents:A Moderated Chain Mediation Model

Very long chain-saturated and-polyunsaturated fatty acids(VLC-SFA and VLC-PUFA, respectively) are a functionally important class of fatty acids containing 28 carbons or more in their acyl chain. They are synthesized by the elongation of very long fatty acids-4(ELOVL4) enzyme, expressed mainly in the brain, retina, skin, testes, and meibomian gland, where these fatty acids are found(Agbaga et al., 2008). Further, these organs exhibit tissuespecific VLC-PUFA and VLC-SFA biosynthesis and incorporation into complex lipids for specific functions. In the brain, skin, and Meibomian glands, the ELOVL4 mainly makes VLC-SFA, which are incorporated into complex sphingolipids. In the retina, the ELOVL4 makes VLC-PUFA that are incorporated into phosphatidylcholine, that are critical for visual function, while in testes and sperm, the VLC-PUFA are incorporated into sphingolipids that are critical for fertility(Yeboah et al., 2021).

Thermoelectric Modulation of Neat Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) MXenes by Finely Regulating the Stacking of Nanosheets

Emerging two-dimensional MXenes have been extensively studied in a wide range of fields thanks to their superior electrical and hydrophilic attributes as well as excellent chemical stability and mechanical *** them,the ultrahigh electrical conductivity(σ)and tunable band structures of benchmark Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) MXene demonstrate its good potential as thermoelectric(TE)***,both the large variation ofσreported in the literature and the intrinsically low Seebeck coefficient(S)hinder the practical ***,this study has for the first time systematically investigated the TE properties of neat Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) films,which are finely modulated by exploiting different dispersing solvents,controlling nanosheet sizes and constructing ***,deionized water is found to be superior for obtaining closely packed MXene sheets relative to other polar ***,a simultaneous increase in both S andσis realized via elevating centrifugal speed on MXene aqueous suspensions to obtain small-sized nanosheets,thus yielding an ultrahigh power factor up to~156μW m^(-1) K^(-2).Third,S is significantly enhanced yet accompanied by a reduction inσwhen constructing MXene-based nanocomposites,the latter of which is originated from the damage to the intimate stackings of MXene ***,a correlation between the TE properties of neat Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) films and the stacking of nanosheets is elucidated,which would stimulate further exploration of MXene TEs.

Objective:To investigate the protective effects of stir-fried Semen Armeniacae Amarum(SAA)against aristolochic acidⅠ(AAⅠ)-induced nephrotoxicity and DNA adducts and elucidate the underlying mechanism involved for ensuring the safe use of Asari Radix et ***:In vitro,HEK293T cells overexpressing Flag-tagged multidrug resistance-associated protein 3(MRP3)were constructed by Lentiviral transduction,and inhibitory effect of top 10 common pairs of medicinal herbs with Asari Radix et Rhizoma in clinic on MRP3 activity was verified using a self-constructed fluorescence screening *** m RNA,protein expressions,and enzyme activity levels of NAD(P)H quinone dehydrogenase 1(NQO1)and cytochrome P4501A2(CYP1A2)were measured in differentiated Hepa RG *** toxicity after inhibition of AAⅠmetabolite transport was detected using cell counting kit-8 *** vivo,C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into 5 groups according to a random number table,including:control(1%sodium bicarbonate),AAⅠ(10 mg/kg),stir-fried SAA(1.75 g/kg)and AAⅠ+stir-fried SAA(1.75 and 8.75 g/kg)groups,6 mice in each *** 7 days of continuous gavage administration,liver and kidney damages were assessed,and the protein expressions and enzyme activity of liver metabolic enzymes NQO1 and CYP1A2 were determined ***:In vivo,combination of 1.75 g/kg SAA and 10 mg/kg AAⅠsuppressed AAⅠ-induced nephrotoxicity and reduced d A-ALI formation by 26.7%,and these detoxification effects in a dose-dependent manner(P<0.01).Mechanistically,SAA inhibited MRP3 transport in vitro,downregulated NQO1 expression in vivo,increased CYP1A2 expression and enzymatic activity in vitro and in vivo,respectively(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Notably,SAA also reduced AAⅠ-induced hepatotoxicity throughout the detoxification process,as indicated by a 41.3%reduction in the number of liver adducts(P<0.01).Conclusions:Stirfried SAA is a novel drug candidate for the suppression of AAⅠ-induced liver and kidney dam

Associations between food insecurity with gestational diabetes mellitus and maternal outcomes mediated by dietary diversity:A cross-sectional study

BACKGROUND Food insecurity(FI)during pregnancy negatively impacts maternal health and raises the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM)and pregnancy-induced hypertension(PIH),resulting in adverse outcomes for both mother and *** To investigate the relationships between FI and pregnancy outcomes,particularly GDM and PIH,while also examining the mediating role of the dietary diversity score(DDS).METHODS A cross-sectional study was undertaken to examine this relationship,involving 600 pregnant *** were women aged 18 years or older who provided complete data on FI and pregnancy *** FI was measured via the Household Food Security Survey Module,with GDM defined as fasting plasma glucose levels of≥5.1 mmol/L or a 2-hour oral glucose tolerance test value of≥8.5 mmol/*** DDS is determined by evaluating one's food consumption based on nine distinct food groups.A logistic regression model was used to explore the relationship between FI and PIH,and *** Seventeen percent of participants reported experiencing FI during *** study found a significant association between FI and an elevated risk of GDM[odds ratio(OR)=3.32,95%CI:1.2-5.4].Once more,food-insecure pregnant women had higher rates of PIH(OR=0.10,95%CI:0.02-0.45)and they also faced a higher likelihood of neonatal complications,such as neonatal intensive care unit’s admissions and the birth of infants with extremely low birth *** FI wasfurther linked to metabolic disruptions,such as elevated fasting blood sugar(FBS),low-density lipoprotein cholesterol,and triglyceride *** results indicate that the DDS acts as a significant mediator in the relationship between FI and the incidence of *** particular,the mediation analysis showed that approximately 65%of the effect was mediated through DDS(P=0.002).CONCLUSION These findings underscore the serious challenges that FI presents during pregnancy and its effects on maternal and infant ***,the study

Development of a nomogram for overall survival in patients with esophageal carcinoma:A prospective cohort study in China

BACKGROUND Esophageal carcinoma(EC)presents a significant public health issue in China,with its prognosis impacted by myriad *** creation of a reliable prog-nostic model for the overall survival(OS)of EC patients promises to greatly advance the customization of treatment *** To create a more systematic and practical model that incorporates clinically significant indicators to support decision-making in clinical *** This study utilized data from a prospective longitudinal cohort of 3127 EC patients treated at Chongqing University Cancer Hospital between January 1,2018,and December 12,*** the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression alongside multivariate Cox regression analyses helped pinpoint pertinent variables for constructing the *** efficacy was assessed by concordance index(C-index),area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC),calibration curves,and decision curve analysis(DCA).RESULTS Nine variables were determined to be significant predictors of OS in EC patients:Body mass index(BMI),Karnofsky performance status,TNM stage,surgery,radiotherapy,chemotherapy,immunotherapy,platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio,and albumin-to-globulin ratio(ALB/GLB).The model demonstrated a C-index of 0.715(95%CI:0.701-0.729)in the training cohort and 0.711(95%CI:0.689-0.732)in the validation *** the training cohort,AUCs for 1-year,3-year,and 5-year OS predictions were 0.773,0.787,and 0.750,respectively;in the validation cohort,they were 0.772,0.768,and 0.723,respectively,illustrating the model's *** curves and DCA verified the model's predictive accuracy and net *** A novel prognostic model for determining the OS of EC patients was successfully developed and validated to help clinicians in devising individualized treatment schemes for EC patients.
