Water-soluble brown carbon in atmospheric aerosols from the resource-dependent cities:Optical properties,chemical compositions and sources

As a vital type of light-absorbing aerosol,brown carbon(BrC)presents inherent associations with atmospheric photochemistry and climate ***,the understanding of the chemical and optical properties of BrC is limited,especially in some resource-dependent cities with long heating periods in northwest *** study showed that the annual average abundances of Water-soluble BrC(WS-BrC)were 9.33±7.42 and 8.69±6.29μg/m^(3)in Baotou and Wuhai and the concentrations,absorption coefficient(Abs_(365)),and mass absorption efficiency(MAE365)of WS-BrC presented significant seasonal patterns,with high values in the heating season and low values in the non-heating season;while showing opposite seasonal trends for the Absorption Angstr?m exponent(AAE_(300-400)).Comparatively,the levels of WS-BrC in developing regions(such as cities in Asia)were higher than those in developed regions(such as cities in Europe and Australia),indicating the significant differences in energy consumption in these *** combining fluorescence excitation-emission matrix(EEM)spectra with the parallel factor(PARAFAC)model,humic-like(C1 and C2)and proteinlike(C3)substances were identified,and accounted for 61.40%±4.66%and 38.6%±3.78%at Baotou,and 60.33%±6.29%and 39.67%±4.17%at Wuhai,*** results of source apportionment suggested that the potential source regions of WS-BrC varied in heating ***-heating seasons and that the properties of WS-BrC significantly depended on primary emissions(e.g.,combustion emissions)and secondary formation.

Spin wave resonance frequency in bilayer ferromagnetic films with the biquadratic exchange interaction

The dependences of spin wave resonance(SWR)frequency on the surface anisotropy field,interface exchange coupling,symmetry,biquadratic exchange(BQE)interaction,film thickness,and the external magnetic field in bilayer ferromagnetic films are theoretically analyzed by employing the linear spin wave approximation and Green’s function method.A remarkable increase of SWR frequency,except for energetically lower two modes,can be obtained in our model that takes the BQE interaction into ***,the effect of the external magnetic field on SWR frequency can be increased by increasing the biquadratic to interlayer exchange *** has been identified that the BQE interaction is of utmost importance in improving the SWR frequency of the bilayer ferromagnetic *** addition,for bilayer ferromagnetic films,the frequency gap between the energetically highest mode and lowest mode is found to increase by increasing the biquadratic to interlayer exchange ratio and film thickness and destroying the symmetry of the *** results can be used to improve the understanding of magnetic properties in bilayer ferromagnetic films and thus may have prominent implications for future magnetic devices.

Effect of boundary slip on electroosmotic flow in a curved rectangular microchannel

The aim of this study is to numerically investigate the impact of boundary slip on electroosmotic flow(EOF) in curved rectangular microchannels. Navier slip boundary conditions were employed at the curved microchannel walls. The electric potential distribution was governed by the Poisson–Boltzmann equation, whereas the velocity distribution was determined by the Navier–Stokes equation. The finite-difference method was employed to solve these two equations. The detailed discussion focuses on the impact of the curvature ratio, electrokinetic width, aspect ratio and slip length on the velocity. The results indicate that the present problem is strongly dependent on these parameters. The results demonstrate that by varying the dimensionless slip length from 0.001 to 0.01 while maintaining a curvature ratio of 0.5 there is a twofold increase in the maximum velocity. Moreover, this increase becomes more pronounced at higher curvature ratios. In addition, the velocity difference between the inner and outer radial regions increases with increasing slip length. Therefore, the incorporation of the slip boundary condition results in an augmented velocity and a more non-uniform velocity distribution. The findings presented here offer valuable insights into the design and optimization of EOF performance in curved hydrophobic microchannels featuring rectangular cross-sections.

Crystal facet-dependent CO_(2) cycloaddition to epoxides over ZnO catalysts

With regard to green chemistry and sustainable development,the fixation of CO_(2) into epoxides to form cyclic carbonates is an attractive and promising pathway for CO_(2) *** oxides,renowned as promising eco-friendly catalysts for industrial production,are often undervalued in terms of their impact on the CO_(2)addition *** this work,we successfully developed ZnO nanoplates with(002)surfaces and ZnO nanorods with(100)surfaces via morphology-oriented regulation to explore the effect of crystal faces on CO_(2) *** quantitative data obtained from electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy indicated that the concentration of oxygen vacancies on the ZnO nanoplate surfaces was more than twice that on the ZnO nanorod *** functional theory calculations suggested that the(002)surfaces have lower adsorption energies for CO_(2) and epichlorohydrin than the(100)*** a result,the yield of cyclochloropropene carbonate on the ZnO nanoplates(64.7%)was much greater than that on the ZnO nanorods(42.3%).Further evaluation of the reused catalysts revealed that the decrease in the oxygen vacancy concentration was the primary factor contributing to the decrease in catalytic *** on these findings,a possible catalytic mechanism for CO_(2) cycloaddition with epichlorohydrin was *** work provides a new idea for the controllable preparation of high-performance ZnO catalysts for the synthesis of cyclic carbonates from CO_(2) and epoxides.

Presentation of the Berry-Tabor conjecture in Levy plates

The Berry-Tabor(BT)conjecture is a famous statistical inference in quantum chaos,which not only establishes the spectral fluctuations of quantum systems whose classical counterparts are integrable but can also be used to describe other wave *** this paper,the BT conjecture has been extended to Lévy *** predicted by the BT conjecture,level clustering is present in the spectra of Lévy *** consequence of level clustering is studied by introducing the distribution of nearest neighbor frequency level spacing ratios P(r),which is calculated through the analytical solution obtained by the Hamiltonian *** work investigates the impact of varying foundation parameters,rotary inertia,and boundary conditions on the frequency spectra,and we find that P(r)conforms to a Poisson distribution in all *** reason for the occurrence of the Poisson distribution in the Lévy plates is the independence between modal frequencies,which can be understood through mode functions.

Multiscale Study on Low Temperature Crack Resistance Mechanism of Steel Slag Asphalt Mixture

The objective of this paper was to study low temperature crack resistance mechanism of steel slag asphalt mixture(SAM).Thermal stress restrained specimen test(TSRST)and three-point bending test were carried out to evaluate the low-temperature crack resistance of SAM and basalt asphalt mixture(BAM).Based on the digital image correlation technique(DIC),the strain field distribution and crack propagation of SAM were analyzed from the microscopic point of view,and a new index,crack length factor(C),was proposed to evaluate the crack resistance of the asphalt *** crystal phase composition and microstructure of steel slag aggregate(SA)and basalt aggregate(BA)were studied by X-ray diffraction(XRD)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM)to explore the low-temperature crack resistance mechanism of *** show that the low-temperature crack resistance of SAM is better than that of BAM;SAM has good integrity and persistent elastic deformation,and its bending failure mode is a hysteretic quasi-brittle failure;The SA surface is evenly distributed with pores and has surface *** has the composition phase of alkaline aggregate-calcite(CaCO3),so it has good adhesion to asphalt,which reveals the mechanism of excellent low-temperature crack resistance of SAM.

Particle size characterization and sources of sediments in the Uzhumqin sand dunes

Sediment constitutes the fundamental basis for forming and evolving aeolian *** characteristics of sediment particle size offer insights into the development and evolution of sandy terrain,making their study critical to understanding aeolian geomorphology and sand *** this study,we combined high-density collection of surface sediments in the Uzhumqin sand dunes and GIS spatial analysis to analyze the particle size parameters and changes in the spatial distribution of surface sediments in this *** addition,we used an end-member analysis to identify the potential sources of the *** results showed that surface sediments in the Uzhumqin sand dunes had distinct spatial *** and coarse grain sands dominated the sediments in the dunes,and the mean grain size and the sorting coefficient generally increased along the prevailing wind direction,with high values in individual areas related to factors such as material sources and vegetation *** was strongly influenced by factors such as landform change and human activity,and spatial variability became more *** and the soil fractal dimension showed generally decreasing trends along the prevailing wind *** dune fixation,the contents of clay and powder particles in the soil increased;the mean particle size,the sorting coefficient,and the fractal dimension of the soil gradually increased,and the skewness and kurtosis gradually *** end-member analysis results indicated the existence of five end-members(EM)in the dune *** 1 was a mixed component of wind-deposited fine sands and nearby fluvial *** 2 was the main component of sediments in the study area and was the result of sorting lake sediments by wind action and by the local *** 3 may be a product of river flood *** 4 and EM 5 had coarser grain *** 4 was a lake-phase sediment product influenced by topographic and vegetation cover factors,and EM
